Introducing The LEGO Oscars!

As some of you may know, the 89th Academy Awards, or Oscars, were announced earlier today. A plethora of films ranging from the most whimsical Musicals and thoughtful Dramas to the thrilling Sci-Fis and joyful Animations, were amongst these nominations. On the surface, this has very little to do with LEGO at all, especially since The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie (both of which could be up for Best Animated Feature) don’t release until later this year, and as such, do not qualify for this Oscar Season.

However, under closer inspection, it appears that some of films nominated in 2016 have some form of a connection with LEGO, be it actors that have LEGO Figures made in their likeness, or LEGO Themes based off of nominated films. Actually there is a lot of films that bear these LEGO relations, so we thought we should get involved in the Oscar Season.

Today, we’ll take a look at the films and artists nominated who have some relation with LEGO, and come Event Night on the 26th February, we’ll do what all award sites seem to do and keep you up to date on what has just won, but with a twist — we’ll be routing for the LEGO Nominations!

Below is a list of all the films with a LEGO Connection that have been nominated – check back on Sunday 27th February to see if any of these LEGO-related films go home with the Gold!
