Last March, we featured one particular LEGO Ideas Project that garnered the coveted 10K votes, and eventually made it to the list of projects to be reviewed during LEGO Ideas’ first 2018 Review Stage. For LEGO and gaming fans (such as myself), the Modular Arcade is one LEGO Ideas project that we really like to see happen. I’m a fan of arcades, and seeing this project by Astronaut Avila become an actual LEGO set is something that I’m looking forward to.
LEGO is wise to announce its offerings for the 2nd half of 2018 as early as summer, because we really have to buffer our wallets again this time.
It looks LEGO is giving us a glimpse of what the future of brick-building might look like. Ever since the launch of LEGO Boost Creative Toolbox (17101) last year, LEGO has been developing sets and apps that merges the potential of the LEGO Boost, with a wide array of existing and soon to be offered sets. This trend was finally confirmed with LEGO’s official press release that highlights the Powered Up Platform System of Play.
Following the official release of the latest LEGO Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars, and Minecraft set images, now comes the announcement of four LEGO Technic sets all scheduled for an August 1st release. Knowledge about these sets was floating around the internet and LEGO fan forums since December last year, with even one of the sets placed on display during a Russian Toy Fair. So it’s a relief to finally see their set images up close.
It looks like the LEGO Minecraft theme is still going strong with The LEGO Group officially announcing the release of three additional Minecraft sets for this year. These sets are scheduled to be on shelves starting August 1 and will also be available via shop.LEGO.com. For the rest of this year’s LEGO Minecraft sets, you may check them out right here.
