LEGO Movie 2 Will Be Delayed, Fans May Have To Wait Until 2019.

This may not sound like awesome news. Variety recently reported that Warner Bros. has decidedly rearranged the release dates of some of its upcoming films, including the sequel The LEGO Movie 2. Originally slated for a May 2018 release the follow-up to the multi-million success film was pushed for another year to have an adjusted summer release date of February 8, 2019, adopting the same opening weekend as that of the first LEGO movie back in 2014.

The good thing though, is that two LEGO-inspired films seem to be right on schedule as their release dates for next year remain unchanged: the LEGO Batman movie is expected to hit theaters on February 10, 2017, while the LEGO Ninjago movie is slated on September 17, 2017. That’s two LEGO theatrical releases to expect next year.

If you recall, the LEGO Movie was a pleasantly surprising success, with an opening weekend gross of $69 million domestically, trailblazing to bring home the bacon earning a total gross of $470 million worldwide. Its success spurred similarly themed theatrical films such as The LEGO Batman Movie, LEGO Ninjago, and a fourth movie that we scantly know about, The Billion Brick Race which is co-written and co-directed by Jason Segel and Drew Pearce with an originally announced release date of May 24, 2019. However, this may likely be pushed back as well given the adjustment that was done on the LEGO Movie 2.

LEGO Ideas Third 2015 Review Results Has Been Announced.

Third 2015 LEGO Review Results

This day has surely been filled with great news, one after the other. Hot off the trail of LEGO’s latest announcement on LEGO Dimensions Series 2, comes another piece of good news for those who has been tuning into the Third 2015 LEGO Ideas Review. A couple of hours ago, LEGO Ideas have finally unveiled the projects that made it to the cut to become the next LEGO Idea-based product that will roll out into shelves anytime soon. Watch as LEGO Ideas Online Community Specialist, Hasan, gives the breaking news.

The two projects that came up on top was the Beatles Yellow Submarine (102950) by builder Kevin Szeto, and the Apollo 11 Saturn-V (76841) rocket from saabfan. Here’s the gist of what the LEGO Ideas Review Board have to say about them.

Beatles Yellow Submarine

ideas_yellow_submarine

As an amateur musician and songwriter, Kevin Szeto, wanted to show his affection for The Beatles through a LEGO tribute to the iconic British rock band. He really brought it to life in vibrant and fun colours, and even included the whole band as LEGO Minifigures. Place them in the submarine or build your own stage and reproduce The Beatles’ greatest hits!

Apollo 11 Saturn V

That’s one small step for a man; one giant leap for mankind! saabfan and whatsuptoday have built quite the testament to human exploration. Standing approximately 1 meter tall, this LEGO rocket will soon be ready for lift off.

The LEGO Ideas Review Board has also announced that the first wave of LEGO Ideas for this year is now currently being reviewed, with the results due to come out later this fall. The first 2016 LEGO Ideas review is a tough nut to crack, with plenty of equally impressive sets such as the Fossil Museum, Gingerbread House, the Jedi High Council Chamber, Old Fishing Store, and my personal favorite the Rolling LEGO BB-8.

The Future of LEGO Dimensions Has Been Finally Revealed!

bigger possibilities

Following the series of teasers that LEGO released yesterday, today marks the full reveal of what’s in store to what has been called as LEGO Dimensions Series 2. The array of new characters and worlds to be explored in the highly celebrated bricks-to-life game is absolutely astonishing. We saw an impressive line-up from the previous waves of releases, and this time LEGO Dimensions welcomes its next series with a brand new set of IPs that brings to the table an awesome mix of promising new characters. Watch LEGO’s new Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) Trailer and see what “new adventures await”.

LEGO Dimensions Series 2 will continue where the previous left off with its new Fun Packs, Team Packs, and Level Packs. What is equally exciting is the inclusion of the all-new Story Pack which includes a unique buildable Gateway to place on the existing LEGO Toypad. LEGO also announced that every new franchise as seen in the video will be introduced as its own Expansion Pack. The said expansion also introduces an all-new game mode called ‘Battle Arena’ – a brawler type, Capture The Flag game series where up to four players can join. The announcement of Series 2 also entails the fact that LEGO Dimensions now has over 30 well-known franchises under its name. That alone is an impressive feat that only LEGO and TT Games can manage to pull off. Here’s The LEGO Group’s press release, followed by several official images of the newest line of LEGO Dimensions packs.

LEGO Dimensions Big Announcement Coming On Thursday.

01_LD_Home_Hero_B

In a very surprising and delightful move, LEGO and Warner Bros. Interactive recently released two teasers over the LEGO Dimensions Facebook page that hints on things to come for LEGO’s toys-to-life genre. The teasers hints on what have been already discussed (extensively) within the LEGO community about upcoming sets that will be included in what has been dubbed as LEGO Dimensions 2.

The first teaser has Batman crashing in on a cave and asking, “What took you so long?”. LEGO Dimensions fans have been clamoring for this latest reveal considering that all of the LEGO Dimensions packs announced to date have been released and this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) begins this coming weekend. We also know that Supergirl and Green Arrow will make their way in LEGO Dimensions considering that their polybag counterparts have been confirmed already and are now making rounds over eBay.

https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FLEGODimensions%2Fvideos%2F1726350554317033%2F&show_text=1&width=560

The most recent teaser, however, seems to be more exciting with LEGO Dimensions hinting on a cryptic message that every avid fan of the Harry Potter series is very aware of.

https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FLEGODimensions%2Fvideos%2F1726591277626294%2F&show_text=1&width=560

As pointed out by Allen over at The Brick Fan, these lines came from Lord Voldemort’s first lines in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2: “Only I can I live forever”. This also confirms what have been discussed before in several LEGO fan forums that Harry Potter and another J.K. Rowling creation, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find will soon make their way in LEGO Dimensions.

It’s interesting to note that gaming sites such as Press Start, are quite positive that other than Harry Potter, the following themes will soon be added to the roster of LEGO Dimensions 2.

Fantastic-Beasts

  • Sonic
  • The Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them
  • Adventure Time
  • Ghostbusters Reboot
  • Mission Impossible
  • Teen Titans
  • The Goonies
  • Powerpuff Girls

It’s quite an interesting list actually, though I am not personally sold out on the idea of having a LEGO Dimensions Mission Impossible set. Definitely, all our questions will be answered once LEGO drops the exciting news on Thursday. What do you think will LEGO reveal on the 9th? Share us what you think in the comments section below.

LEGO Star Wars Rebel A-Wing Pilot And Other Polybag Exclusives Spotted At LEGOLAND California.

After the reveal of the surprising, out-of-the-blue, LEGO Star Wars Rebel A-Wing Pilot (5004408) a couple of weeks ago, we had our first sighting of this sweet deal as a promotional at LEGOLAND California over the weekend. According to Brick Fan, the said polybag was made given away for free for every purchase of applicable LEGO merchandise worth $30 and above. However, the said promotional only ran for 2 days during the weekend from June 4 to 5.

5004408 promo 5004408-1

Though this is a very brief stint for a promotional, we’re quite optimistic that this minifigure will show up again at LEGO Stores. Similarly, From Bricks to Bothans also reported not one, but two more polybag exclusives sighted at LEGOLAND California, which we first reported at the start of this year. The LEGO Star Wars Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle (30279) and First Order Star Destroyer (30277) polybags had made their appearance and were on sale at around $4 each.

img_0109 LEGOSWFA_Shuttle_bonusLG 30277-1

Currently, 30279 is now being offered as a Gamestop exclusive that comes bundled with the LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens video game to be released on June 28. We still have no clues if the First Order Star Destroyer (30277) is part of a larger promotional, but if our hunches are correct and knowing how LEGO usually bundles these polybags, we’re quite positive that we’ll get to see them again anytime soon.

Can This Be The Largest, Most Expensive, LEGO Auction Ever?

293405293_6-lego-collection-1978-2014-2000-modeles

Minifigure Price Guide recently pointed us to a very interesting oddity in this side of LEGO collectors’ world. Belgian auction site 2ememain posted what could probably turn out to be the largest, and most expensive LEGO sets and items ever auctioned. Similar to eBay, 2ememain is Belgium’s biggest and most popular online market with more than 6.4 million monthly unique visitors and more than 4 million listings.

Listed by a certain Karto believed to be based in Hannut, Belgium his post has been viewed more than 18,000 times in just less than 24 hours. What makes Karto’s offer mind-blowing is the fact that his reported collection consists of more than 2,000 sets which he claims to have acquired from 1978 until 2014.

For some reason, he decided it’s time to kick the bucket on his collecting activities. Weighing almost a ton, he now puts his rare LEGO sets for auction at an unbelievable price of 80,000 Euros or almost $90,000 USD. As of this writing, four bids have already been placed, with the highest offer at 82,500 Euros. Karto didn’t hold back in cataloguing his prized collection, saying that he managed to snap 12,000 pictures worth of documentation which has a combined file size of more than 16GB.  All in all, it took him 120 large boxes just to pack-up his LEGO sets and he even rented a truck just to haul all of them when he transferred his place of residency.

We saw him leisurely drift in his classic LEGO Belchfire Runabout Mini Car a few days ago and this time, Japanese Master Builder Moko transports Donald Duck into the not so distant future where his choice of ride becomes a quacking and stomping custom LEGO Mecha Donald  Robo.

As a follow-up to his promise of paying tribute to the LEGO Disney CMF, his second creation is a more playful take on the distinct wackiness of our favorite Disney duck. Better get out of the way of its huge, webbed feet if you don’t want to be stomped silly. Moko even added a spring element at the back to give it a nice wind-up toy look.

Similar to his Mickey Robo, this wacky looking ride is also poseable. Moko originally thought of adding arms on the Mecha Donald Robo as he explained in his blogsite, but dropped the idea later on in favor of a more goofy-looking build. Always having an eye for detail, Moko adds a lovely bow tie and a horn element as well. It’s truly one epic face-off between two iconic Disney figures.

So what do you think about Moko’s LEGO Mecha Donald Robo? Which of Moko’s builds – Mickey Robo or Donald Robo – do you like best? Share us your pick in the comments section below.
