LEGO Polybag Bargains Now in UK Sainsbury’s Supermarket Branches.

From Target, to Toys ‘R’ Us and many more, we’ve often taken note of and posted updates whenever a major retail chain holds an event or rolls out any promotion involving LEGO. Today we’re looking at the UK where their second-largest supermarket chain is offering LEGO polybags at bargain prices.

Polybags are about as affordable as you could get with LEGO products, but Sainsbury’s is taking it a step further by having some of their stores knock prices for the smallest packs all the way down to 90 pence. UK LEGO collectors couldn’t have a better time hunting for bargains.

It should be clarified, however, that the bargain-price LEGO polybags are only to be found in the Sainsbury’s supermarket stores, not the smaller convenience branches that have a different pricing. The 90p polybags can be identified by them being on clip strips hanging from shelf edges, not displayed on shelf-top.

Needless, to say, the bargain polybags are simple those LEGO items that are almost out of stock with Sainsbury’s, and the available sets will depend on where the branch is located in the UK. Early shoppers report that the 90p polybags are mostly either LEGO Creator or LEGO City sets.

Toys ‘R’ Us Build and Play Event: LEGO Heroes Needed!

We at The Brick Show have covered special events involving LEGO in collaboration with some of its major retail partner brands around the world, like Toy ‘R’ Us. There’s been several TRU events, especially the Build and Play ones, that we reported on. Most of them were in the UK.

Well, here’s one that can be enjoyed on Toys ‘R’ Us stores stateside. On Saturday, February 10, TRU will be having another Build and Play event based on superheroes, both their original characters and licensed ones too. “LEGO Heroes Needed” will happen in TRU stores from 10AM to 2PM, as usual.

There are several reasons as to why young LEGO builders and their parents would like to show up for the “LEGO Heroes Needed” Build and Play. First is the hero-themed giveaways, like superhero masks portraying, say, DC superheroes or the LEGO Ninjago crew. Who can resist those?

Next is the Build and Play event itself. No specific item or model was given to be constructed, so it’s likely to be a free-for-all building frenzy with LEGO hero minifigures mixed in. For the parents though, the best part would have to be the event’s one-day in-store discount coupon, one each for every participant.

That discount coupon works only for the day, but will avail Toys ‘R’ Us shoppers with 40% off on selected LEGO sets at the TRU store where they went for the Build and Play. It’s a sure bet that those selected LEGO sets are superhero themed, anything from DC to Ninjago, as stated earlier.

Interested attendees can reserve their spot for Saturday’s “LEGO Heroes Needed” Build and Play event at the nearest TRU store to them. Or they can simply drop in on their local TRU from 10AM-2PM and sign up. Either way, that one-day 40% discount coupon is a major motivator for participants, so Toys ‘R’ Us hopes to be seeing you around.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Black Panther Rhino Face-Off (76099) Now At 20% Off Via Amazon.

We’re no less than 50 days away before the premiere of MCU’s Black Panther on cinemas this coming February. Play-sets tying into the film have already been announced as part of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes line. Some of these sets are coming out first thing in January next year too.

For those who are still holding on to that next LEGO Superheroes purchase, then you might be glad to know that the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set Rhino Face-Off (76099) is now available for pre-order on Amazon with a whopping 20% off of its regular price. This means an Amazon pre-order of set 76099 will only be $15.99, quite a deal for a new set based on an MCU film.

Included in the Rhino Face-Off set (76099) are minifigures of T’Challa/Black Panther and two of his nemeses in the film: rival tribal chief Okoye and ambitious Wakandan exile Killmonger. Okoye rides into battle with a heavily-armed cyborg rhino, while Killmonger tries to make off with a minecart filled with vibranium, set on roller-coaster tracks. It’s up to Black Panther to take them both down.

These Are the LEGO Star Wars Character Busts You’re Looking For.

Master Builders Tyler and Sean are back with another series of LEGO MOCs inspired by the recent release of Star Wars The Last Jedi. These LEGO Star Wars character busts are based on a stylized, cartoony versions of Luke Skywalker (based on old man Luke from TLJ), Yoda, Darth Maul and a First Order Stormtrooper. I simply couldn’t overemphasize the degree of complexity and advanced building techniques that went through the creation of these character busts. As Tyler noted, these builds may look simple on the outside, but the building magic really happens on the inside.

Particularly, I like the way how Luke and Yoda’s gray hair were conveyed using light and dark gray slope pieces. The way their eyes were recreated, and the angle of their eyebrows gives these character busts a certain degree of personality of their own. The use of lime green color for Yoda was really spot on.

Darth Maul is really in a class of his own. As my favorite Sith Lord from the Star Wars prequels, I certainly won’t mind giving him some space in my LEGO Star Wars collection. The red and black color scheme really fits his character, not to mention Tyler and Sean excellent use of those white tooth pieces to replicate his iconic horns. This is one Sith character bust that you definitely don’t want to mess with.

Finally, we have what I feel is the epitome of Tyler and Sean’s brick-building skills. This LEGO Star Wars MOC First Order Stormtrooper bust clearly showcases the depth of the their building skills. The helmet design, and the way the LEGO pieces are aligned in such a way to give the bust a smooth, and sleek appearance is really awesome. Admittedly, this is the toughest model that Sean and Tyler ever made in this series.

If you wish to have these LEGO Star Wars Character Busts added to your collection, then you’ll be glad to know that Build Better Bricks is running a promo where you can get all the four building instructions to create these character busts for a discounted price of $15. You still have the option of purchasing the each individual set of instructions per character bust for just $5 each, but at 25% discount to get all four, that is one nice bargain you don’t want to miss.

To know more about these latest LEGO Star Wars Character Bust MOCs, check out Tyler and Sean’s reviews over at our YouTube channel, or head over at Build Better Bricks to view the rest of their cool creations.

LEGO UK Offers Pick-a-Brick Box at In Line With Boxing Day 2017.

Tuesday, December 26, is the day after Christmas. Over in the UK, it’s also Boxing Day, the “other” day of gift-giving for them and other countries that were part of the British Empire of old. Speaking of gifts, LEGO has some presents to give away at that side of the Atlantic as well.

And this is one of the most generous giveaways you could ever avail of in a whole year of LEGO promos. For Boxing Day, every LEGO set bought from in the UK, France and Germany will entitle the buyer to one free Pick-a-Brick box with their purchase.

These Pick-a-Brick boxes come into play the following year, as from January 1 to March 31 of 2018, they can bring the box they received to their local LEGO store to be filled up with their choice of LEGO building elements like bricks and so forth. The only exceptions are minifigures, keychains and similar accessories.

Boxing Day 2017 is the first time that the Pick-a-Brick box has been made available for online LEGO shoppers. And they potentially would not have to spend more than the usual set prices to get one, what with the nifty discount rates being offered for particular LEGO sets on December 26.

A Look At the 2018 LEGO Wall Calendar Vouchers.

It has been customary for LEGO to release its yearly wall calendar and most fans look forward to them not just for their aesthetic appeal as a keepsake, but also for the vouchers that go along with them. Though 2017’s LEGO Wall Calendar was released around this period of time last year as announced in the December 2016 LEGO Store Calendar, it’s quite puzzling that LEGO has not made any official announcement until now on its availability in the US. However, LEGO fans in Europe were on to an early treat when LEGO Brands Stores in the region finally released their 2018 LEGO Wall Calendar as an in-store gift with purchase, with a price point of 20 Euros.

Thanks to Promobricks who managed to get a copy of their own, we now have an idea on how next year’s LEGO Wall Calendar may look like. Now for the record, I’m not sure if this is already available in the US since I haven’t heard of any reports that this calendar has been released and distributed to fans and store visitors. Any tip from our readers will surely be appreciated. Unlike that from last year, Europe’s 2018 LEGO Wall Calendar has a more regional vibe into it, with the LEGO London Store’s very own Lester minifigure being part of the cover, featuring a creative gang of minifig artists.

Same as last year’s wall calendar, its most attractive part will be the collection of nice, little vouchers that go with them for every month of the year. Again, the vouchers and their respective redemption dates may be specific only to LEGO Brand Stores in the European region, and may all be entirely different than that in the US, so this is something that we will keep our radar on.

Latest 2018 LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter (5005249) Minifigure Revealed.

We haven’t entered the first quarter of 2018, and yet we already have a glimpse of what LEGO has in store for Easter. Thanks to Bouwsteentjes, we have our very first image of what seems to be our next LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter minifigure (5005249). 2018’s Iconic Easter minifigure still retains the cardboard box accessory as its predecessors, while the minifigure itself bears a new torso print. Check out the image below.

It seems this kind of minifigure promotional is here to stay. If you recall, last December, we saw the return of the Gingerbread Man CMF from Series 11as a freebie for any qualifying LEGO purchase during last year’s holiday season. This year, we also have two minifig promotional: the Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) and the Caveman and Cavewoman (5004936) set.

There are no specifics yet on when, and where we can avail of this latest collectible minifigure, nor did Bouwsteentjes mentioned anything about the source of its image. However, my best guess is that it will make its official reveal soon once the LEGO Store Calendars for 2018 rolls out.

Thanks again to Bouwsteentjes for sharing this image.
