WATCH: Where Can You Find the Hardest To Reach LEGO Store?

The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) has just been revealed and to celebrate the occasion, LEGO dares us to travel what it refers to as the hardest to reach LEGO Store in the world. Well, that is for two highly competitive adventurers willing to take on the college.

The scene is somewhere in the remote Scottish Highlands, where two of the most adventurous travelers go head-to-head to be the first to land at the hardest to reach LEGO Store on the planet.

As you can see, it’s not the typical LEGO Store that we are used to. The LEGO Group came up with the idea of placing a brightly colored yellow Land Rover on top of the Scottish Highlands (complete with its iconic logo and signboard) and see who will be able to first reach this remote location.

It’s a showdown between two fierce adventurers – Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest and the Seven Summits, as she takes on Aldo Kane, a native Scottish explorer and extreme locations expert, in a thrilling competition to reach the remote LEGO Store and build the new set. Watch this.

It’s a pretty cool marketing ad actually, keeping in line with the sense of awe and adventure that comes with the Land Rover brand. And now that we have another building set to celebrate the adventurer in us in the form of this latest brick-built offering, it’s time to grab those bricks again and embark on your very own building adventure.

The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) is slated to arrive in (actual) LEGO Stores starting April 4, 2023. For more information, visit LEGO.com.

Here’s a First Look at the LEGO Super Mario Dry Bowser Castle Battle (71423)

Last week, Nintendo’s social media team was quite busy promoting this year’s grandest Super Mario celebration. Included in the announcement is a brief mention of yet another collaboration with LEGO. And this time around, we now have a visual confirmation of what this first collaboration is in the likes of the just recently revealed LEGO Super Mario Dry Bowser Castle Battle (71423)

Coming in at 1,321 pieces this set is expected to retail for $100 once it arrives in LEGO stores this month. Though it is a sizeable set as shared by Dylan Chow over Instagram, this is still not considered an 18+ set. Just a couple of days ago, The Brick Fan mentioned that this upcoming LEGO MAR10 celebratory set is not an 18+ or D2C set which usually appeals to adult LEGO fans in a similar vein to that of The Mighty Bowser (71411) from last year, the Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block (71395) from 2021, or the Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) from 2020.

Based on what we see from Dylan’s post, the Dry Bowser Castle Battle (71423), seems to be another expansion set that ties up with previous LEGO Super Mario sets in terms of functionality and course features. We even get to see a similar Purple Toad found in LEGO Super Mario Character Packs Series 5 (71410), a Bone Goomba from LEGO Super Mario Character Packs Series 2 (71386), and a new Bone Piranha Plant and Lava Blargg build as well. I also love the aesthetics of the castle’s chain while giving it the same vibe as that of Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle (71369).

The LEGO Super Mario Dry Bowser Castle Battle is expected to make its official debut any time soon once MAR10 Day celebrations are in full swing. As a final note, just2good over his YouTube channel also reports of another LEGO Super Mario that will happen alongside the reveal of the Dry Bowser Castle. It is anticipated that this will be our first LEGO Donkey Kong set and it’s exciting to see how LEGO will pull this out.

Be sure to keep in touch here on our blog site for more updates on these upcoming LEGO Super Mario sets.

WATCH: LEGO LOTR Rivendell Designer Video

In case you missed it, LEGO released earlier this week its LEGO LOTR Rivendell designer video, giving us a glimpse of the design process behind this latest LEGO Icons set.

LEGO designers Chris Perron, Wes Talbott, and Ashwin Visser, delve into the intricacies of the design process and reveal the secrets behind the construction of this remarkable model. Watch this:

This designer video provides insight into the intricacies and challenges faced by the designers throughout the creative process. Their unparalleled attention to detail and clever design techniques enabled them to come up with an impressively accurate brick replica of the mythical and enchanting elven city of Rivendell. In fact, Chris and Wes mentioned that they even took it upon themselves to actually revisit the set in which the film was taped, in order to have a good grasp of how this iconic movie scene was made.

The 3-part build features some of the key moments in the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that includes a view of the Council of the Ring, Frodo’s Bedroom, and Elrond’s Study for its first section. The second section of this set features an intricately beautiful Elven Tower with five elven minifigure statutes. While the third and last section highlights River Bridge and Gazebo that recreates the Fellowship’s departure from Rivendell.

This LEGO LOTR Rivendell designer video also underscores the huge number of minifigures that comes with it. The set offers 15 newer minifigure versions of Gandalf the Grey, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck, Peregrin “Pippin” Took, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, and Aragorn. They are joined by minifig versions of Elrond, Arwen, Bilbo Baggins, and Gloin, plus additional elves, and plenty of minifigure statues. All in all, the set offers a whopping 21 minifigures that are new and unique to this build.

The LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316) clocks in at 6,167 pieces and is currently available at LEGO.com, retailing for a rather hefty price of $500.

LEGO House Exclusive Set Revealed: The LEGO House A Minifigure Tribute (40504)

The House of the Brick officially unveiled today this year’s exclusive LEGO House set. After legendary LEGO designer Stuart Harris gave a bit of a teaser a couple of days ago, LEGO has finally lifted the curtain to its LEGO House A Minifigure Tribute (40504). Read the announcement below.

A tribute to the minifigure!

New LEGO® House Exclusive set From 1 March!

LEGO House A Minifigure Tribute (40504)

This year marks the 45th anniversary since the LEGO Group launched the very first LEGO minifigure in 1978. Since then, more than 10 billion minifigures have been produced in more than 8000 variants.

You can take part in celebrating the legendary minifigure by building the iconic Captain Redbeard, this year’s LEGO House Exclusive set. The finished figure, complete with a peg leg, pirate hat, and hook, is approx. 30 cm. high and consists of 1041 bricks.

This exclusive set is sold from 1 March 2023 and is only available in the LEGO store in LEGO House, Billund, Denmark.

Each year, the LEGO House Exclusive sets pay tribute to the most iconic LEGO Group stories. ‘A Minifigure Tribute’ is the fourth set in the series. These special sets can only be bought in the LEGO Store at LEGO House.

Meet the designers of the product

On 3 and 17 March, you can meet the two LEGO designers behind the product, Stuart Harris and Markus Rollbühler, in front of the LEGO House LEGO Store. Here you can see the concept models, have a chat with the designers and get your box signed.

When: 3 + 17 March at 4.00 – 5.00 pm CET

Here’s a bit of trivia according to LEGO: as of to date, there’s a total of 10 billion minifigures already out there since the first one came out of production. The LEGO Minifigure is also 45 years old since its initial launch and current iteration from 1978.

That is why The LEGO Group saw it fit to offer this next LEGO House exclusive set to the iconic character of Captain Redbeard – one of the most popular minifigure characters ever created coming from the classic Pirates theme. If you’re a fan of the theme, you might recall that Captain Redbeard originally came with the LEGO Pirates Black Seas Barracuda 6285 from 1989. The set was later re-released in 2002 with set number 10040, then re-imagined in the most recent LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay (21322) of 2020.

This brick-built version of Captain Redbeard clocks in at 1,041 pieces and stands 30 centimeters tall. The LEGO House A Minifigure Tribute (40504) is available only at the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, for $84.99. Unless you already have an arranged trip to the House of the Brick, your options might be limited if you’re eyeing this exclusive.

This Year’s Exclusive 2023 LEGO House Set Will Be Revealed on March 1st

As you can see from the video below, it appears that this upcoming LEGO House exclusive will have a pirate theme, as Stuart Harris, the set’s designer, dons an outfit reminiscent of a buccaneer and proceeds to unveil a treasure chest from a drawer. We eagerly anticipate the unveiling of this annual exclusive set from the LEGO House within the next few days.

LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316) Makes a Grand Entrance

It looks like LEGO pulled out the One Set to Rule Them All. In an official press statement, the LEGO Group has just unveiled its long overdue LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316) set.

There are plenty of discussions within the LEGO community that points out the possibility of LEGO reviving this 2012 licensed theme, especially when a collection of LEGO BrickHeadz Lord of the Rings theme was introduced last December. And this time, the largest LOTR LEGO set – at 6,167 pieces – will vividly bring us back to Middle-Earth where the journey of the Fellowship of the Ring all began.

LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell

The LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell will retail for a whopping $500 and will be available starting March 8, 2023. Read LEGO’s official press release below. More details to follow.

LEGO® ICONS The Lord Of The Rings: Rivendell™, The one Lego Set to rule them all

7th February 2023: The LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, today announced the much-anticipated LEGO® Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell™ set, inspired by the award-winning film adaptations. This highly detailed, 6,167-piece set features the iconic Elven stronghold from Middle-earth and comes complete with 15 minifigures.

Home to the house of Elrond, Rivendell is a key location in Middle–earth and events of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, as the place where the Fellowship was formed and the quest to destroy the One Ring began.

The LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set is packed with fan favorite moments and Easter eggs, and can be built in three sections including;

Section one, featuring:
• The Council Ring – complete with a semicircular ring of chairs for the council and the plinth where the ring is first revealed and the Fellowship discuss how to destroy it
• Frodo’s Bedroom – with a desk and chest where the young hobbit recovers following his rescue by Arwen from the hands of the Nazgûl, before being reunited with Bilbo
• Elrond’s study – with famous paintings from the history of Middle–earth

Section two, featuring:
• An elven tower – featuring five Elven statues of unnamed famous warriors from the past

Section three, featuring:
• Gazebo, river, and bridge – to recreate the scene where the Fellowship departs Rivendell.

The set also comes with 15 minifigures – including all nine members of the Fellowship; Gandalf the Grey, all four hobbits (Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck and Peregrin “Pippin” Took), Legolas, Gimli, Boromir and Aragorn. They are joined by minifigures of Elrond, Arwen, Bilbo Baggins plus additional elves and a dwarf (Gloin) are also included.

LEGO and The Lord of the Rings fans alike will also receive several new LEGO elements from the world of Middle–earth, including: Bilbo’s sword, Sting, the broken shards of Narsil, Aragorn’s ranger sword, Boromir’s sword, as well as numerous dwarven axes and elvish blades to ensure the Fellowship are well armed for their quest ahead.

Talking about the set, LEGO Design Master, Mike Psaiki said, “We know many of our fans have been anticipating a set like this for a long-time – but a great LEGO The Lord of the Rings set is never late, it arrives precisely when it means to! It was important to us that we created something really special in this recreation of Rivendell. We aimed to add as much detail as possible and create an engaging experience throughout the build to delight fans recreating scenes or proudly displaying Elrond’s home. We are really pleased with the final design and how we have brought Rivendell to life in brick form.”

The LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set is RRP £429.99/$499.99/€499.99 and is available exclusively for LEGO VIP members from 5th-7th March 2023, along with a free Frodo and Golum LEGO Brickheadz set (40630). Build Your Very Own LEGO God of Fortune to Celebrate the Chinese New Year

Today marks the beginning of the Year of the Water Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. And LEGO Singapore joins in the celebration by offering a regional exclusive promo LEGO God of Fortune brick-built mini statue.

Thanks to information provided by the Brickfinder, we get to see the intricacies of this miniature collectible. As it is, the LEGO God of Fortune is a gift-with-purchase set offered at Suntec City Mall in the famed Lion City. For every single-receipt purchase made at Suntec City Mall worth SGD $388 and above, you get to bring home this 132-piece giveaway. Some other conditions are attached to this promo, as you can see below.

Frankly, the purchase price point for this set might be a bit high. But as the Brickfinder mentions, this is a stackable promo. This means you also get to bring home for free other LEGO promos (such as the LEGO Year of the Rabbit and the LEGO Lunar New Year VIP Add-On Pack) during this time if you buy LEGO in Suntec City Mall.

And if you’re on the other side of the globe now, you can also have the chance to build your very own LEGO God of Fortune. You may download the building instructions here and check if you have the necessary parts to recreate this freebie. There seem to be no exclusive elements on this set, so you can check with your current LEGO collection if you have the parts available.

If you’re unfamiliar with this deity, this Chinese God of Fortune also comes by the name Caishen. He is said to bring good luck and prosperity to celebrate the new year.

New LEGO Promos and GWP Sets Now Up!

In case you missed it, several LEGO promos and GWP or gift-with-purchase sets are now over at LEGO’s home shopping portal and all LEGO stores. Now that the LEGO Icons Blacktron Cruiser (40580) promotional set has finally concluded, we can expect 2 additional GWP sets to be around (until supplies last) starting January 15 to 25, 2023.

The LEGO Year of the Rabbit (40575) can be yours for a minimum single-receipt qualifying purchase of any LEGO products worth $85 and more. This LEGO promotion is the 9th Chinese zodiac-inspired set from the seasonal series, so if you’re a completionist and wish to collect all these brick-built collectibles, you better not miss out on this one.

If you’re a LEGO VIP member, you are also in for another exclusive treat. Starting this week until the end of the month, there are two promos and GWP sets that you can bag for free with qualifying purchases. The LEGO Houses of the World 1 (40583) is presumably the first in the series of several culturally inspired brick-built home dioramas. Coming in 348 pieces, this LEGO VIP-exclusive set comes with a rather high price point in order to claim. For a single-receipt purchase of any LEGO products worth $250 and more, this freebie will be automatically added to your bag as well.

And to continue the Lunar New Year festivities, LEGO VIP members can also expect to have the  LEGO Lunar New Year VIP Add-On Pack (40605). This LEGO promotion features an awesome selection of seasonal LEGO pieces offered in variant colors such as recolored lantern pieces, and minifigures accessories, including a couple of rabbit figures. You can have this freebie automatically added to your cart for a minimum single-receipt LEGO purchase worth $50 or more.

I have to admit that getting LEGO Houses of the World 1 (40583) may prove to be a bit pricy if you’re looking forward to collecting and completing its series. But if you have your LEGO budget ready for this month, then it’s still nice to see this collectible added to your cart for free.  And since LEGO has already confirmed that there will be three more sets under this theme, then we better be ready for some serious LEGO spending.

For more info about these LEGO promos and GWP sets, be sure to visit LEGO.com.

Build and Take Home a Frankenstein Head at LEGO Branded Stores Next Week

We’re just about to wind up the month of October, and followers of holidays know what that means. Yep, Halloween 2022 is just a mere two Mondays from now. And while LEGO already has some Halloween-themed goodies lined up, there’s still more in store. Ah, “in store”. Speaking of which, LEGO Brand Stores all over have their own little event to celebrate All Hallows’ with. As The Brick Fan would have it, this is another in-store free-build opportunity for young LEGO builders. And the “spooky” build for this year will be the head of a famous and classic movie monster.

Next week on Wednesday and Thursday, October 26-27, build a LEGO Frankenstein’s Monster to take home! Starting at 5PM local time on LEGO Branded Stores near you, get a chance to create Frankie with your kids. Yeah, that late afternoon timeslot makes for a Halloween-y feel before October 31 itself. These LEGO Stores will have limited materials each day to provide visitors for building Frankenstein’s Monster. Only those who have completed their builds can take them home, and the freebies can’t be conventionally purchased. It also means participating guests are first come, first served at their local LEGO Branded Store.
