All

Since the report that some Toys R Us stores has already been selling the much awaited LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 16 (71013), there has been some fair degree of confusion going on what is the actual  or official release date of this latest minifig series. There have been some initial reports that mention a September debut, alongside of the LEGO Disney Castle, as mentioned by CM4Sci over at Eurobricks.

However, there is a pretty good deal of evidence showing that most LEGO minifig collectors have already gotten their hands full with these latest LEGO minifigure collection, with some of them sharing their ‘feel guides’. It’s All About Science With These Latest LEGO Ideas Project Hitting The 10K Mark.

From the reaches of deep space, to the tiniest building blocks of our universe, LEGO Ideas now present its latest addition to the roster of projects to achieve 10,000 supporters and qualifies for the Review Stage by the LEGO Review Board sometime this September. It’s all about astronomy and physics with these latest Ideas projects from ThomasW and NathanR2015 respectively. Here’s a brief look at these sets and what they can offer.

The Large Hadron Collider

LEGO Ideas LHC

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN is one of the wonders of modern science and collaboration among nations. Running in at a massive 27km circular tunnel located at the French-Swiss border, it consists of four gigantic detectors namely ATLAS, ALICE, CMS, and LHCb. The LHC is used by physicists around the world to learn more about how our universe came to be by studying the behavior of its tiniest building block – protons and quarks (that’s far enough that I will go about the science behind these things, since I have to admit this is not my cup of tea). The cool thing is that the builder behind the LEGO Ideas LHC, Nathan Readioff, is also a PhD student who is currently based at CERN. The best part is, Nathan also included the instructions in building this set which you can find right here. The building instructions also come with a pretty neat explanation behind the science of the LHC.

ALICE ATLAS CMS LHCb

This is a stylised model of the LHC, showcasing all four of the detectors at a micro scale size. Each detector model is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but crammed with detailed internal systems revealed by cutaway walls – every major detector component is represented by a Lego piece. The models are not strictly in scale with each other, but use the same size base to maximise the detail that can be included and give a more uniform look to the set.

The LEGO Observatory Mountain View

LEGO Ideas Observatory

From the tiniest of particles, we now turn our inquisitive eyes towards the skies with the LEGO Observatory Mountain View designed by ThomasW. In terms of play features, the LEGO Observatory Mountain View comes with several compartments that show how a workday is like in the life of an astronomer. The dome of the observatory also opens and turns at slightly varying angles.

Observatory 01 Observatory 02 Observatory 03 Observatory 04 Observatory 05 Observatory 06 Observatory 07 Observatory 08 Observatory 09 Observatory 10

The Observatory would have one telescope within the dome and one very small one on the viewing platform. The dome can be opened and turnable. The building can also be opened. Within the building there you can find:

  • an Office / Desk
  • a Library with books and goodies
  • a small lecture room with large windows and a beamer
  • and so on (search the details ;o)  )

Within the dome:

  • Computers
  • a telescope
  • IMPORTANT: a coffee machine

Outside the Observatory I placed some plants and stones. The Observatory would also contain some minifigures: Male and Female Observers, and some Visitors (a Family and some friends).

LEGO Ideas Six

The LEGO Ideas Large Hadron Collider and LEGO Observatory Mountain View are the next two Ideas project to join in the ranks of The Addams Family Mansion, The Merchant’s House, Spaceballs-Eagle 5, and our personal favorite, Voltron-Defender of the Universe, all of which are slated for the LEGO Ideas Review sometime in September.

WATCH: Video Gameplay For LEGO Dimensions’ Sonic, Gizmo, And More Featured At The SDCC 2016.

IGN Lego Dimensions 02

With the recent trailer of Sonic’s gameplay in LEGO Dimensions Series 2 now out, it will certainly be nice to see how the Blue Blur will interact with the rest of the gang. IGN’s Brian Altano and Marty Silva had an exclusive interview with LEGO Dimensions’ Game Director Arthur Parsons over at the San Diego Comic-Con where the latter also showcased the various abilities of the newest characters to be included in LEGO Dimensions. Watch the interview below and see how Sonic, Gizmo, and E.T. play around inside Jake and Finn’s Adventure Time Treehouse.

Obviously, Sonic’s strongest selling point is his lightning speed coupled with his Acrobat ability and pretty cool grind rail moves. Gizmo’s Combat Roll and Dash Attack abilities can be used to get him out of sticky situations, plus he comes with a great looking Rambo costume when he uses his ranged attacks. E.T. looks so cute as he moves along in LEGO Dimensions with his Illumination and Fix-It abilities. It’s a great time to be a kid of the 80s once more with all the modern and classic characters teaming together in one cool mashup video game.

IGN Lego Dimensions

These LEGO Dimensions Series 2, Wave 2 expansion packs (or Wave 7 considering its continuity since Series 1) are due for release just in time for the holidays starting November 18, 2016, while Wave 6 is due to be out by September 27. Wildcard Toys have listed LEGO Dimensions Wave 6 for pre-order, featuring the LEGO Dimensions Adventure Time Team Pack (71246), LEGO Dimensions Harry Potter Team Pack (71247), LEGO Dimensions Mission Impossible Level Pack (71248), LEGO Dimensions The A-Team Fun Pack (71251), and the LEGO Dimensions Ghostbusters Story Pack (71242).

Are We Going To See More LEGO Sets Built Around These Warner Bros Movies?

jla

Perhaps other than The LEGO Group (TLG) making waves at the San Diego Comic Con where there are so many exciting things going on right now from LEGO Dimensions Series 2 to The LEGO Batman Movie, legions of LEGO fans may also have great reasons to flock the Warner Bros Pictures Booth (#685) at Hall H. On Comic-Con’s Day #3, Warner Bros dropped three huge trailers that has the potential for further LEGO partnerships in coming up with great new sets (who knows, perhaps they’re in the works already). Thankfully, you don’t have to be physically present at the San Diego Convention Center in order to relish these Comic-Con trailers that includes a firsthand look at some of the Fantastic Beasts tucked inside Newt Scamander’s suit case, the story behind the vintage photograph of Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) as seen in Batman VS Superman, and a peek on how Bruce Wayne, together with Diana, banded together with Barry Allen (aka The Flash), Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) and Victor Stone (Cyborg).

Take a look at these trailers as they made their debut at SDCC 2016.

As of now, LEGO seems to be keen on the potential of its DC and Marvel Superheroes line-up, with sets slated to roll out until the first half of 2017. Now that LEGO Dimensions is trying to pump life (and they’re doing a great job so far) to the ailing toys-to-life scene with its Series 2 offers, we can expect more characters added to the toy box mix of LEGO Dimensions any time soon. Wouldn’t it great to see some of the fantastic beasts in their LEGO form? We already have Niffler and the Swooping Evil brick-built for LEGO Dimensions, but there is still a lot of them that has great potential to be rendered in LEGO form.

71253 71257

Warner Bros’ Justice League can also benefit from a LEGO makeover with new iterations that will culminate with the arrival of a common foe, Darkseid. Similar to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, DC’s Extended Universe may also provide a seedbed of great ideas for any future LEGO sets.

WATCH: Take A Look At The Latest ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Trailer Featured At San Diego Comic-Con.

LEGO reveals and exclusives just keep on coming in from San Diego Comic-Con, now it’s Day #3. After LEGO’s first round of offering with its brand new sets centered on The LEGO Batman Movie, and exclusive Comic-Con brick-built Brickheadz figures, we now have another exclusive reveal for all those attending this year’s Comic-Con. Thankfully, Warner Bros Animation Group was kind enough to upload the Comic-Con exclusive The LEGO Batman Movie trailer for all of us to enjoy. Watch this awesome trailer and try not to be overwhelmed with all the amazing stuff that lies hidden in the attic of the Wayne Mansion.

I think I’m starting to understand how Robin feels – there is so much to say about the Batcave! This Comic-Con trailer of The LEGO Batman Movie is somehow reminiscent of that which was shown at an exclusive screening during last April’s Cinema Con at Las Vegas. The trailer gives us a glimpse on the backstory of Dick Grayson (voiced by Michael Cera) which will later be known as Robin. It was kind of shocking for Batman (Will Arnett) to hear Alfred drop that bombshell of an announcement that the lone Caped Crusader has a son – which he ‘accidentally’ adopted during a gala event. Life doesn’t give you seat belts indeed.

LEGO Batman Trailer 03

It didn’t take long for the highly inquisitive Grayson to figure out that Batman lives under the Wayne Mansion (which Batman immediately corrected by saying that it is ‘Bruce Wayne lives in Batman’s attic’). When the bat is finally out of the bag so to speak, it is just a matter of time before Grayson wished for a costume of his own, declaring himself as Batman’s sidekick – and like any other sidekick, he also wants a costume of his own, and wow, the array of LEGO Batman costumes shown in this clip is simply stunning. Yes, we know that some LEGO fans may already feel that Batman is already saturated with so many iterations on his costumes, but with costumes like “Tears of A Bat”, “St. Batricks”, “El Murcielago”, “Glam Bat”, “Merbat” and of course, “The Reggae Man”, I guess a little bit of LEGO fun and humor added to Batman’s minifigure line will not hurt anyone. If you were able to spot the Buccaneer Batman then you have a very good eye.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Will Arnett reprises his starring role from “The LEGO Movie” as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis stars as The Joker; Michael Cera as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred. “The LEGO Batman Movie” is directed by Chris McKay and produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, with additional screenplay material by Jared Stern & John Whittington, based on LEGO Construction Toys, in association with LEGO System AS. Chris McKay also serves as an executive producer, alongside Ryan Harris. A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, “The LEGO Batman Movie” will open in theaters on February 10, 2017. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

LEGO Batman Movie Gets A Brand New Poster Straight From The SDCC And Much More.

Bruce Wayne is all hyped up for San Diego Comic Con, especially that his latest LEGO inspired film now has a new poster to boot. Warner Bros has just unveiled its recent poster for The LEGO Batman Movie, confirming its February 10, 2017 theatrical release. In its typical LEGO fashion, the poster itself is a playful take on the character of the Dark Knight, all set and ready for action in 2017 as he dons his mask once again. Interestingly, the poster reveals a new look underneath the Bat’s mask which shows a new hair piece as pointed out by Brickset.

Here’s Warner Bros official press release on The LEGO Batman Movie followed by its latest promotional poster. You may also check out the film’s official website for some cool, free stuff and film clips.

LEGO Dimensions Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them Story Pack (71253)

Just in time for the film’s theatrical debut this November, the next Story Pack in LEGO Dimensions Series 2 directly comes from the work of world-renowned writer J.K. Rowling. We first had a glimpse of how this Story Pack looks like through the latest Argos Catalogue from the UK. Similar to the Ghostbusters Story Pack, the Fantastic Beasts Story Pack 71253 allows you to play the movie in LEGO Dimensions. The set includes the Newt Scamander minifigure, a brick-built Nifler, and the portal-like entrance to the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA). We also have an image of the actual set as revealed during Day 1 of the San Diego Comic-Con, courtesy of The Brick Fan.

LEGO Dimensions Fantastic Beasts Tina Goldstein Fun Pack (71257)

LEGO Dimensions E.T. Fun Pack (71258)

LEGO Dimensions ET Fun Pack

CM4Sci gave us a first look how the iconic Extra Terrestrial will look like if given the LEGO Dimensions treatment. Though the minifigure version of ET is absolutely gorgeous, most fans over at Eurobricks were not really that thrilled over the telephone. The set has 42 pieces and will retail at $11.99. For those of you who are not that familiar with this 1982 Steven Spielberg masterpiece, the brick built phone in this set alludes to that scene where ET learns what a phone is, thinking that it could help him communicate with his home planet. Take a look at this video clip and see if you can notice how ET gets the idea.

LEGO Dimensions Sonic The Hedgehog Level Pack (71244)

As we earlier reported, the Blue Blur now speeds his way to LEGO Dimensions and we now have an official trailer to mark the event. The LEGO Dimension Level Pack comes with the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog minifigure, together with two brick built vehicles of the Sonic Speedster and high-flying Tornado, retailing at $29.99.
