New LEGO Ninjago Short Set To Hit Theaters Alongside Warner Bros’ ‘Storks’.

Warner Animation Group’s next big screen offering, Storks, is slated to hit theaters next month, and it seems that the 3D computer animated film is not the only star of the show. The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that Warner Bros will also give audiences a glimpse of what to expect on its much anticipated LEGO Ninjago Movie ahead of its showing in 2017. Featuring a new animated short entitled The Master: A LEGO Ninjago Short, we’ll see Master Wu square off with an unlikely nemesis, simply called the ‘Chicken’. THR further reports that legendary Jackie Chan will debut as Master Wu in the said short, with Abbi Jacobson starring as the Chicken with Justin Theroux narrating. Theroux is also slated to voice Garmandon in the main LEGO Ninajago Movie.

The_Lego_Ninjago_Movie

Here’s the rest of THR’s report:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and WAG, in association with Lego System A/S, the five-minute short was directed by Jon Saunders, from a screenplay by Saunders and Ross Evans and story by Saunders, Evans, Carey Yost and Remington D. Donovan. Ryan Halprin produced.

The short announcement follows news that Chan, Jacobson and Theroux have all joined the voice cast for The Lego Ninjago Movie, which will also feature Chan voicing Wu and Jacobson voicing a ninja. Theroux will play Garmadon in The Lego Ninjago Movie, which has a Sept. 22, 2017, release date.

Following the success of 2014’s The Lego Movie, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (who are executive producers of Storks, The Master and The Lego Ninjago Movie), WAG also intends to release spinoff feature The Lego Batman Movie, also planned for a 2017 release, as well as a Lego Movie sequel, slated for 2019.

Building on the success of The LEGO Movie and the high anticipation of fans for the upcoming LEGO Batman Movie, Warner Bros is also banking on one of LEGO’s original theme once it hits theaters on September 22, 2017. The LEGO Group also seems to be confident on how movie-going fans in general will receive the LEGO Ninjago Movie by adding several rumored sets and a line of collectible minifigures under its banner. Here’s a brief synopsis of the movie as we previously reported.

Thank You Kenny Baker For Giving Us Artoo – Looking Back At LEGO’s R2-D2.

Kenny-Baker-R2D2-Star-Wars

It’s a sad Saturday for the legion of the faithful scattered throughout the Star Wars galaxy, when Kenny Baker at almost 82 years old, passed away in Lanchashire, England. Kenny, also known as Kenneth George Baker, is best known for his portrayal of the endearing astromech droid R2-D2 in the Star Wars saga. Personally operating Artoo in all of the 6 Star Wars films, Kenny became sort of an icon, a legend to all Star Wars fans, for giving a distinct personality to the most beloved astromech in the world. Whether shaking because of excitement, or turning around his dome-shaped head out of disdain and amusing contempt towards fellow droid C-3PO, Kenny was able to brilliantly  bring Artoo into life and winning the hearts of many along the way. True enough, Kenny was an excellent performer and actor, and he will always be remembered as the person that gave a heart and soul to the most popular robotic companion in the world.

In honor of this great man who made this Star Wars legend possible, let’s take a look at the many times Artoo made its appearance in LEGO minifigure form throughout the years. Since 1999, R2-D2 has left his mark in 36 LEGO Star Wars set according to Brickset. Over the years, we’ve seen some slight variations in printing over the minifig version of Artoo however his standard, 4-piece design has always been the same. Though these pieces and elements that makes up the iconic LEGO R2-D2 is also used in recreating some of the droids in the LEGO Star Wars theme, R2-D2 has always remained the most popular astromech minifigure across all LEGO Star Wars sets, and here are all the minifigure renditions of Artoo as he appears in them. Thanks to Brickset for all the images.

To some extent, we have Kenny Baker to thank for in making R2-D2 as one of the most prolific LEGO Star Wars minifigures around. Kenny will remain a much loved personality as the astromech that he portrayed and forever immortalized in the annals of LEGO history. Though Kenny is no longer with us, he will always be remembered in all six Star Wars films as the humble little person who breathed who gave life and a personality  to the most famous astromech in this side of the galaxy.

More LEGO Batman Movie Rumored Sets That We Picked Up.

We recently featured a load of rumored LEGO sets – more than a hundred fifty to be exact – that are expected to debut in 2017 and covered almost all of LEGO’s active themes and upcoming movies as well. Two of these sets have been unveiled already with the announcement of the LEGO Batman Movie: The Batmobile (70905) and The Joker’s Notorious Lowrider (70906), and if we will take these reported rumors as true, then we can expect plenty more sets to arrive considering that there is a total of 15 expected sets that LEGO will release that will surely make the Caped Crusader beaming with smiles.

Other than the 2 confirmed sets mentioned above, LEGO is still understandably mum on the rest of the LEGO Batman Movie sets. However, LEGO insider Delta Customs may give us some hints on the shape of things to come. He shared several descriptions of these sets over at his Instagram account and credits them to a certain ‘Captain Unicorn’ (now, that’s something that you don’t hear everyday).

First off, is a possible LEGO Batman Movie Arkham Asylum that is expected to retail at around $100. According to Delta Customs, the size of this revamped ‘treatment center’ for Gotham’s criminally deranged villains will be almost as that of its predecessor, the LEGO DC Universe Superheroes Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout (10937) released in 2013. However, this newer version will be based primarily on how the Asylum will be portrayed in the LEGO Batman Movie. What is interesting about the set is its sheer number of villains rendered in their minifigure forms. The rumored LEGO Batman Movie Arkham Asylum will feature a total of 12 minifigures: Batman, Barbara Gordon, Aaron Cash, 2 Arkham Guards, Harleen Quinzel (presumably in her professional outfit), Joker, Two-Face, the Riddler, and three more unnamed villains. The villains in this set are said to be in garbed in Arkham’s jumpsuits.

Next is a newer rendition of the Batcave as we saw it featured in the trailers. The supposedly new LEGO Batman Movie Batcave will particularly boast of with tons details such as the various Bat costumes of the Caped Crusader, a walkway leading to the Batcomputer similar to how it was shown in the official trailer, and an Alfred minifigure. Other highlights of the set include the Batboat and a brick-built duck ride for the Penguin and several of his arctic bird minions similar to that of the Wildlife Photographer as seen from LEGO’s CMF Series 16. The little penguins are seen carrying some attachments on their back.

In addition to this, we’ll be seeing the LEGO Batman Movie Batwing, though this one is different from the one seen in the trailer and is shaped more like a bat. The plane’s cockpit is the head of the bat, and a Poison Ivy minifigure will be included in the set.

Killer Croc is slated to be featured in the movie and he will also have a set dedicated to him. The LEGO Batman Movie Killer Croc Swamp set will feature a big fig version of the reptilian powerhouse, and it is rumored that this bigfig rendition will be as big as that of the Rancor as seen in LEGO Star Wars Rancor Pit 75005. That will be a huge plus point for this set in case this rumor turns out to be true. The Killer Croc Swamp set also comes with a buildable red pick up truck, swamp like builds, including a unique animal skull, and minifigures of Batman, Zebra Man, and Tarantula.

Other tidbits of info that Delta Customs shared about some of the sets also include:

  • A Mr. Freeze minifig in an exo-suit, Batman, and a hostage belonging to one of the smaller sets.
  • The Penguin will also get ‘a really cool car’, one that will rival Joker’s Notorious Lowrider.
  • Plenty of new, random minifigures: Tarantula, Zebra Man, Kite Man, Calendar Man.
  • Plenty of vehicles to go around for villains.

It will certainly be great to see these vehicles have their own sets.

x1lrb7 f9ffcj

In similar news, several sources over at Eurobricks also mention that a Catwoman bike set will also make its appearance and the one which most of us are waiting for, is a complete line up of collectible minifigures dedicated to the LEGO Batman Movie. It is reported to comprise of 20 minifigures instead of the usual 16.

Like any other rumor, we always everyone to bear in mind that these are all predictions and speculations unless the LEGO Group releases their official announcement. However, knowing that there are some folks who usually turn out to be 99% accurate in their predictions surely gives us something to look forward to.

Be sure to keep tabs with the LEGO Batman Movie’s official website for official announcements and other cool stuff. So what do you think about these rumors and predictions? What are you most excited about all of these? Share us your thoughts in the comments section below. Thanks to the Brick Fan for the tip.

WATCH: DC’s Suicide Squad Recreated in LEGO!

LEGO Suicide Squad

DC and Warner Bros’ Suicide Squad is currently wreaking havoc in theaters with their supervillain-turned-good-guys act. Though reviews were a little bit off, with some even disappointed with the movie, we can’t even imagine saying the same to this Suicide Squad trailer recreated in LEGO bricks by Forrest Fire Films. Of course, their minifigure renditions are none at all ‘disappointing’. Take a look.

It has been quite a while since we saw an excellent LEGO brick-built film coming out from Forrest Fire’s workshop, but once it does, well, the page views will simply speak for itself. Truth be told, it may even be better than the original teasers. I sincerely doubt if LEGO will ever release a line of minifigs exclusively focused on the Squad, especially considering the potential nightmares that Jared Leto’s deranged Joker minifigure may cause to children. It only proves the point that being ‘bad and scary’ sometimes translates to being ‘good and excellent’.

Be sure to check the rest of Forrest Fire’s recreations over at their YouTube channel, and for latest updates on their next LEGO animation projects such as LEGO Teen Titans, and LEGO Justice League 2.

Thanks to Brothers Brick for the heads up.

The LEGO Marvel Superheroes Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060) is already up over at shop.lego.com, however, it is a little bit ‘strange’ when such a set becomes another store exclusive. The image below was taken by Stephen himself directly from his cart when he purchased the set over at Target.

Stephen intended to purchase this set directly from the LEGO Store, however, he was informed that it is a Target exclusive as of the moment. Now we’re not quite sure until when the Sanctum Sanctorum will be available over at Target. Assuming that this will be a highly sought after set considering that this is an early teaser of some sort before the film hits theaters on November 4,  it is wise to consider getting this early on.

Here is LEGO’s official description of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060), followed by a closer look at the set and the cool minifigs that goes along with it. Be sure to stay tuned at our official YouTube channel as Stephen and Jason explore and review the play features of this set.

Are We Going To See More LEGO Sets Built Around These Warner Bros Movies?

jla

Perhaps other than The LEGO Group (TLG) making waves at the San Diego Comic Con where there are so many exciting things going on right now from LEGO Dimensions Series 2 to The LEGO Batman Movie, legions of LEGO fans may also have great reasons to flock the Warner Bros Pictures Booth (#685) at Hall H. On Comic-Con’s Day #3, Warner Bros dropped three huge trailers that has the potential for further LEGO partnerships in coming up with great new sets (who knows, perhaps they’re in the works already). Thankfully, you don’t have to be physically present at the San Diego Convention Center in order to relish these Comic-Con trailers that includes a firsthand look at some of the Fantastic Beasts tucked inside Newt Scamander’s suit case, the story behind the vintage photograph of Diana Prince (aka Wonder Woman) as seen in Batman VS Superman, and a peek on how Bruce Wayne, together with Diana, banded together with Barry Allen (aka The Flash), Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) and Victor Stone (Cyborg).

Take a look at these trailers as they made their debut at SDCC 2016.

As of now, LEGO seems to be keen on the potential of its DC and Marvel Superheroes line-up, with sets slated to roll out until the first half of 2017. Now that LEGO Dimensions is trying to pump life (and they’re doing a great job so far) to the ailing toys-to-life scene with its Series 2 offers, we can expect more characters added to the toy box mix of LEGO Dimensions any time soon. Wouldn’t it great to see some of the fantastic beasts in their LEGO form? We already have Niffler and the Swooping Evil brick-built for LEGO Dimensions, but there is still a lot of them that has great potential to be rendered in LEGO form.

71253 71257

Warner Bros’ Justice League can also benefit from a LEGO makeover with new iterations that will culminate with the arrival of a common foe, Darkseid. Similar to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, DC’s Extended Universe may also provide a seedbed of great ideas for any future LEGO sets.

WATCH: Take A Look At The Latest ‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ Trailer Featured At San Diego Comic-Con.

LEGO reveals and exclusives just keep on coming in from San Diego Comic-Con, now it’s Day #3. After LEGO’s first round of offering with its brand new sets centered on The LEGO Batman Movie, and exclusive Comic-Con brick-built Brickheadz figures, we now have another exclusive reveal for all those attending this year’s Comic-Con. Thankfully, Warner Bros Animation Group was kind enough to upload the Comic-Con exclusive The LEGO Batman Movie trailer for all of us to enjoy. Watch this awesome trailer and try not to be overwhelmed with all the amazing stuff that lies hidden in the attic of the Wayne Mansion.

I think I’m starting to understand how Robin feels – there is so much to say about the Batcave! This Comic-Con trailer of The LEGO Batman Movie is somehow reminiscent of that which was shown at an exclusive screening during last April’s Cinema Con at Las Vegas. The trailer gives us a glimpse on the backstory of Dick Grayson (voiced by Michael Cera) which will later be known as Robin. It was kind of shocking for Batman (Will Arnett) to hear Alfred drop that bombshell of an announcement that the lone Caped Crusader has a son – which he ‘accidentally’ adopted during a gala event. Life doesn’t give you seat belts indeed.

LEGO Batman Trailer 03

It didn’t take long for the highly inquisitive Grayson to figure out that Batman lives under the Wayne Mansion (which Batman immediately corrected by saying that it is ‘Bruce Wayne lives in Batman’s attic’). When the bat is finally out of the bag so to speak, it is just a matter of time before Grayson wished for a costume of his own, declaring himself as Batman’s sidekick – and like any other sidekick, he also wants a costume of his own, and wow, the array of LEGO Batman costumes shown in this clip is simply stunning. Yes, we know that some LEGO fans may already feel that Batman is already saturated with so many iterations on his costumes, but with costumes like “Tears of A Bat”, “St. Batricks”, “El Murcielago”, “Glam Bat”, “Merbat” and of course, “The Reggae Man”, I guess a little bit of LEGO fun and humor added to Batman’s minifigure line will not hurt anyone. If you were able to spot the Buccaneer Batman then you have a very good eye.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Will Arnett reprises his starring role from “The LEGO Movie” as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis stars as The Joker; Michael Cera as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred. “The LEGO Batman Movie” is directed by Chris McKay and produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, with additional screenplay material by Jared Stern & John Whittington, based on LEGO Construction Toys, in association with LEGO System AS. Chris McKay also serves as an executive producer, alongside Ryan Harris. A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation, “The LEGO Batman Movie” will open in theaters on February 10, 2017. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

LEGO Batman Movie Gets A Brand New Poster Straight From The SDCC And Much More.

Bruce Wayne is all hyped up for San Diego Comic Con, especially that his latest LEGO inspired film now has a new poster to boot. Warner Bros has just unveiled its recent poster for The LEGO Batman Movie, confirming its February 10, 2017 theatrical release. In its typical LEGO fashion, the poster itself is a playful take on the character of the Dark Knight, all set and ready for action in 2017 as he dons his mask once again. Interestingly, the poster reveals a new look underneath the Bat’s mask which shows a new hair piece as pointed out by Brickset.

Here’s Warner Bros official press release on The LEGO Batman Movie followed by its latest promotional poster. You may also check out the film’s official website for some cool, free stuff and film clips.

UPDATE: New LEGO Batman Movie Sets Featuring The Joker And Robin Revealed!

LEGO revealed earlier today via its social media channels Facebook and Twitter (which was deleted shortly after they were posted) on what seem to be two new sets that will come out based on Warner Bros Animation Group’s (WAG) The LEGO Batman Movie which is still scheduled to hit the big screen February of next year. According to Brickset, these images include a newer rendition of The Batmobile and Joker’s Notorious Lowrider. If you recall, the film’s director Chris McKay confirms that the LEGO Batman Movie will pay tribute to the caped crusader’s very rich history of crime-fighting ventures and all the memorable characters that comes with it. So it will not be a surprise to see if LEGO will throw in some familiar characters from the Dark Knight’s life, and we’ll get to see them both on screen and as new LEGO sets.

https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FLEGO%2Fposts%2F10153845154193403&width=500
First off is a new version of The Batmobile, which includes a handful of minifigures: Batman, Robin, Man-Bat, and the Kabuki Twins which is a pair of Oriental assassins employed by the Penguin in an earlier animated series. The Batman minifig sports a new belt attachment while Robin has a new hair piece and a pair of goggles. The Man-Bat on the other hand, seems to be the same minifigure included in 2014’s LEGO DC Superheroes Batman – Man-Bat Attack. The Kabuki Twins enters the fray after more than a decade of being on hiatus. It is interesting to speculate what role they will play in the film.

2_20160721

The Joker’s Notorious Lowrider may be smaller in size, but is also equally impressive with its excellent color scheme. The set comes with three minifigs: the Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and of course the Joker. What set these minifigures apart is that they are excellently detailed, with elaborate hair pieces (just take Harley Quinn’s hairpiece for instance) and prints particularly on the sides of Harley and the Batgirl.

1_20160721

Take a look at these sets as they were revealed at the Comic-Con.

Interestingly, we now know that the Joker’s Notorious Lowrider has an assigned code of 70906 as from the tweet above. Apparently, the selling points for these LEGO Batman Movie sets will probably come from the interesting choice of minifigs that LEGO has thrown in. So what do you think about these newest sets from LEGO? Share your thoughts in the comments below, or you may want to join in the discussion, by heading to our Facebook page.
