Hold On To Your Katanas! The LEGO Ninjago Movie Trailer Is Here (Almost)!

Warner Bros has kicked off a slew of teasers to promote its latest film The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Hot off the heels of the release of The LEGO Batman Movie, this next brick-built film collaboration between Warner Bros and LEGO highlights a sort of an alternative storyline for the young heroes of Ninjago. With a new look and a daunting nemesis to beat (who happens to be Lloyd’s dad by the way), our new heroes must eventually come into terms with their own fears and egos in order for them to tap into their full potential.

In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and LEGO Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power.

Earlier today, Warner Bros. has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming debut of its first full-length trailer for The LEGO Ninjago Movie. The teaser begins with Master Wu (voiced by Jackie Chan), showing his intention to gather the young ninja heroes. Watch this.

We assume that the full-length trailer will be released just in time before The LEGO Batman Movie hits theaters. We’ve received a lot of mixed reactions on how the characters of Ninjago are portrayed in this stand-alone film, ranging from uber excited to downright disappointing because of its steep departure from the animated series. Hopefully, will  get more details once the full trailer of The LEGO Ninjago Movie hits online tomorrow.

Batman Just Can’t Stop Singing In This Latest Clip from The LEGO Batman Movie.

We know already how big a film The LEGO Batman Movie is, with all the references and hints that it gives  on the entire spectrum of DC’s Dark Knight. Early reviews of the film were all but praises for this fresh, new take on director’s Chris McKay entertaining spoof centered on a minifig version of the brooding Batman and his fears for any sort of ‘human’ connection, and just going around on his everyday business of crime-fighting and saving Gotham city.

Just a few moments ago, Warner Bros. released a new, fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat, action/comedy sequence that shows Batman fending off the bad guys while rocking out his new theme song. Thanks to Screen Rant, we can view this video clip in its entirety, as you can see below.

The video is so full of details that I have to play it four times! Batman is just a handful for Joker’s band of high-powered misfits such as Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, Katana, Orca, Kiteman, Mutant Leader and the rest of the baddies. The best part is, the Batman still managed to pull out a tune, making Joker ‘look bad’ in front of his endearing nemesis. It’s hilarious how the film managed to show all of these and yet delivers it in a barrage of funny one-liners delivered in such a rapid pace.  Talk about singing your way out in any situation.

If you love this clip and simply adore Batman in his ‘LEGOlized’ version, then be sure to hit the cinemas this Friday to see how the rest of the flick plays out. While you’re at it, be sure to check out our reviews on all The LEGO Batman Movie sets that have been featured in the film. So are you ready for an awesome Friday? Early Reviews Are In: Everything is Awesome With The LEGO Batman Movie!

The LEGO Batman Movie already made its debut in many parts of the globe, and with it comes its first slew of film reviews that all point to one thing: everything is simply awesome about this film! Screen Rant was quick to step up into the action to share a (partial) list of reviews from major news and media outlet. We’re reposting these spoiler-free reviews right here to whet our appetites, as we eagerly wait for the film’s worldwide launch this Friday. Check these out.

“Don’t tell Ben Affleck – he seems sad enough already – but the actor has just been made surplus to requirements by one and a half inches of moulded plastic.”

Robbie Collin (Daily Telegraph (UK))

“The movie is chock-full of meta-references, one-liners and in-jokes (a cinema in the background is playing Two Shades of Grey, for example).”

Steve Rose (The Guardian)

“Boasting more pop-culture references than plastic bricks – everything from The Matrix to King Kong gets a nod – the film isn’t above ripping on other previous superhero failures, with Suicide Squad coming in for a bashing.”

James Mottram (South China Morning Post)

“This is a Batman who isn’t battling the demons of his deceased parents – instead he just misses them. (And, thank heavens, we aren’t subjected to yet another depiction of poor Thomas and Martha Wayne being murdered.)”

Mike Ryan (Uproxx)

“Just when it appeared we’d reached peak superhero, those wily folks at Warner Bros. find another way to re-package the Caped Crusader and the other denizens of the DC Comics stable – one that also manages to ally them to the world’s most popular toy brand.”

Neil Smith (Games Radar)

“Will Arnett’s plastic vigilante delivers more entertainment in the first ten seconds of this Lego spoof than Affleck managed in the entirety of the dour Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

Andy Lea (Daily Star)

“Yet, in quite remarkable fashion, away from the consistent stream of gags – as a film that takes something of a scattergun approach – this is actually, and arguably, the most intimate study of the eponymous role in the character’s existence.”

Stefan Pape (HeyUGuys)

“As with the first film, it’s the little details and character moments that stay with you. Scenes of Batman alone in his giant super-cave, hunched in front of his microwave and eating dinner alone on a little Rosebud Bat Boat unexpectedly move you in ways LEGO mini figures really shouldn’t.”

Michael Coldwell (Starbust)

As mentioned, this is just a partial list as we expect more reviews to come in once TLBM is in full swing. Are you ready to go Bat-crazy at the cinemas this Friday? Count as in! Thanks to Screen Rant for sharing these pretty neat reviews.

LEGO Certified Professionals Nathan Sawaya and Riccardo Zangelmi Pitches In for The LEGO Batman Movie Premiere.

We’re just a few clicks away before The LEGO Batman Movie opens in theaters worldwide, and thankfully, some of us were blessed enough to join in the premiere night during the weekend. To mark the occasion, LEGO Certified Professionals Nathan Sawaya from Los Angeles and Riccardo Zangelmi in Italy pitched in making the celebrated film truly fitting (pun intended) for the Caped Crusader.

In L.A., Nathan came up with a very cool jacket for DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products President, Diane Nelson that will surely make Batman stoked. Nathan’s special creation features a mosaic facade of Batman and Joker in front, and a blue Bat logo at the back as inspired by his previous exhibition, “The Art of the Brick: DC Comics” held in 2015 at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum. Having TLBM as a film that captures all the different shades of the Dark Knight, Nathan’s latest masterpiece is a nod on the classic DC Comics version of Batman and Joker. The specs: Nathan used more than 10,000 LEGO pieces to create this mosaic on top of a black jacket, most of which are 2×2 plates, and took him more than 100 hours to create.

On the other side of the Atlantic, we also have Riccardo Zangelmi paying tribute to the most celebrated crime fighting hero with his own version of Gotham using the first wave of TLBM sets. Setup at the Odeon cinema in Milan, Italy Riccardo came with his own, very chic layout of Gotham City, putting on display the following sets: The Joker Balloon Escape (70900), Mr. Freeze Ice Attack (70901), Catwoman Catcycle Chase (70902), The Riddler Riddle Racer (70903), Clayface Splat Attack (70904), The Batmobile (70905), The Joker Notorious Lowrider (70906), Killer Croc Tail-Gator (70907), The Scuttler (70908), and Batcave Break-In (70909). The large scale backdrop is very impressive in itself, with all of the TLBM sets given a piece of the action as shown in the film. Undoubtedly, everything is absolutely awesome in this in this brick-built diorama.

The LEGO Batman Movie will hit theaters worldwide this Friday, February 10 and is expected to be equally awesome than its predecessor, The LEGO Movie. Thanks to The Brick Fan and Zusammengebaut for sharing the details on these great pieces of brick-built art.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie – A First Look at Our Ninjas 2.0

LEGO and Warner Bros. are now cranking up the promotions for their next cinematic collaboration, hoping to catch on the wave of success that The LEGO Batman Movie is enjoying. The LEGO Ninjago Movie follows the coming of age of our young heroes as they now enter what could be the most gruelling challenge of their lives – coping with high school and family discord. Following through yesterday’s promise of USA Today Life, we now have our first look of the celebrated ninjas of the LEGO Ninjago world. As it seems, our martial arts youngsters all sport new costumes and hairstyles to complement their development (assuming that minifigures can actually grow up). Take a look at their version 2.0.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie features an alternative storyline as compared to that of the animated series. The film features a ragtag group of young ninjas with Kai (Michael Pena), Nya (Abbi Jacobson), Jay (Kumail Nanjiani), Lloyd (Dave Franco), Zane (Zach Woods), and Cole (Fred Armisen). Lord Garmadon (played by Justin Theroux) will prove to be a daunting adversary for our young heroes and he is as intimidating as he can be, as he was revealed by USA Today yesterday. Having him as Lloyd’s father in the film doesn’t make things easier for our ninjas, especially considering that he is also Master Wu’s (Jackie Chan) brother. Whatever the case is, we can expect a great deal of twists and turns, coupled with superb brick-built action, adventure, and LEGO’s unique brand of humor.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie is set to debut in theaters on September 22, 2017 with the first official trailer to be released anytime soon.

Here’s What We Know About the LEGO Star Wars Summer Sets From the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017.

This year’s Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany is now on its 4th day, and though we can’t be there personally to join in the festivities, we have Promo Bricks to thank for, in providing us with an inside look of the action as more and more reveals are unveiled by LEGO. If you were keeping tabs with our previous Nuremberg post last Tuesday, you may have noticed something quite obvious. German LEGO fan site Zusammengebaut who were also present during the opening day of the Toy Fair, has also noted the stringent rules that LEGO’s booth organizers have in place on certain themes on display. This is particularly true when it comes to their Star Wars summer collection where photography of the said sets was strictly prohibited. Thankfully, those who managed to be on the scene to witness the unveiling of these LEGO Star Wars sets were allowed to narrate what they saw. Here’s how Promo Bricks puts it based on a rough Google translate.

According to Christian of PB, this year’s LEGO Star Wars summer sets may be categorized into three subthemes: The Force Awakens, The Freemaker Adventures, and the classic Star Wars sets. These sets were also mentioned in our previous post wherein they were regarded as rumors back then.

The Force Awakens

Jakku Quadjumper (75178) –59.99€

This humble starship was the first choice of ride for Rey and Finn, until First Order forces decided it’s better to have it stay on the ground and be a part of it – for good. The set comes with the minifigure versions of Rey, Finn, BB-8, a First Order Stormtrooper and another unnamed minifig.

Rathtar Escape (75180) – 89.99€

This set has certain play features which can be probably compared to that of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorium (76060). The Rathtar Escape (75180) plays out on a portion of Han Solo’s freighter, the Eravana where two of these much feared Rathars escaped from their confinement. The minifigures included in this set are: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Bala-Tik and three members of the Guavian Death Gang

First Order Transport Speeder Battle Pack (75166) – 14.99€

This Battle Pack offers two First Order Stormtroopers, Officer and Flame / Snow Trooper minifigures. They come with a kind of armed transport platform.

The Freemaker Adventures

Tracker I (75185) – 69.99€

According to firsthand accounts, the Tracker 1 seems to have a strong resemblance to the equally imposing TIE-Interceptor. Minifigs included with the Tracker 1 are: an unnamed lightsaber-wielding figure, the Imperator, and an Ithorian.

The Arrowhead (75186) – 89.99€

This set seems to be the largest set on display under the Freemaker subtheme. The Arrowhead follows a relatively large, minimalistic design. On the whole the ship is said to be about half a meter long. There are five figures, including RO-GR, the reprogrammed combat droid of the Freemakers.

Classic LEGO Star Wars sets

Darth Vader Transformation (75183) – 29.99€

This one is clearly a remake of set 7251 from last 2005. It shows the transformation of the seriously injured Anakin Skywalker into the iconic Darth Vader. Though there are more details to this newer set compared to the previous one. Set 75183 has the minifigures of the Emperor together with Darth Vader, and a wounded Anakin.

Bounty Hunter Speeder Bike Battle Pack (75167) – 14.99€

Most LEGO Star Wars fans have been clamoring for these for ages. Thankfully, our prayers have been answered. For the first time ever, LEGO releases a set of minifigs dedicated to the legendary bounty hunters of the galaxy. Included together with the Speeder Bike are minifigures of Bossk, Dengar, IG-88 and 4-LOM.

Republic Fighter Tank (75182) – 29.99€

Another remake, this time of 2008’s set 7679, only in a slightly smaller scale. There are four minifigures that comes with newer Republic Fighter Tank: two Combat Droids, a Clone pilot, and a female Jedi.

Stormtrooper Commander (75531) – 24.99€

Following the likes of Clone-Commander Cody (75108) and the First-Order Stormtrooper (75114), LEGO finally brings forth a Stormtrooper Commander buildable figure.

Scout Trooper with Speederbike (75532) – 54.99€

Promo Bricks describes this set as a REALLY big one. The buildable Scout Trooper itself is of scale in proportion to that of its speeder bike from Episode 6. The bike is covered with panels in brown, and can be mounted on a stand of Technic beams.

Advent Calendar with 8 Minifigures (75184) – 29.99€

Same as in previous Toy Fairs, the Advent Calendar is shown in Nuremberg, even though we’re still very far from Christmas. Here are some of the minifigs and characters that Promo Bricks can identify within the Advent Calendar: BB8 with Nikolausmütze, a built Luggabeast, Teedo, AT-DP, Millenium Falcon, Kylo Rens Shuttle, First Order Snowtrooper, First Order Stormtrooper, sleigh, Y-Wing and various other figures (A total of eight) and other smaller models.

Thankfully, we’re a couple of weeks away before the Toy Fair season goes back to New York. By then, we hope to see all of these sets in the brick. So be sure to stay tuned here in the Brick Show for more up-to-the minute Toy Fair news and other surprises.

Take a Look at These The LEGO Batman Movie Building Events Slated at Walmart and Toys R Us Stores Nationwide.

TLBM fever is now on its peak! With UK fans being treated to an early preview of the film over the course of the weekend ahead of its worldwide release on February 10 as reported by Brickset, US residents are also prepped and ready with Walmart and Toys R Us rallying the crowd.

The two retail giants team up with LEGO and Warner Bros for simultaneous building events that will happen today and next week Saturday. Walmart stores across the US will be hosting a The LEGO Batman Movie building event scheduled today, February 4, 2017 from 11:30AM until 4PM local time. This event is intended for children ages 6 and up, and you can find the list of participating Walmart Stores by heading over at their Facebook page. FBTB took the extra mile of organizing these Walmart stores by state for easy search and reference. We don’t have any details yet on what Walmart has in store as it’s TLBM give away, but if you’re eager to find out, be sure to check their list of participating stores and pay them a visit this morning.

Even after the world premiere of The LEGO Batman Movie, Toys R Us still has plenty of TLBM stuff to share to its loyal patrons. TRU will be hosting a Make & Take Home TLBM Building Event on February 11, at all TRU stores nationwide. Children ages 6 and above will not just get a chance to participate in the Arkham Asylum Breakout Hunt, but will also get to bring home for FREE Emmet’s Bat-car. Similar to other TRU LEGO events, this building event is only for 2 hours, from 1PM to 3PM and all giveaways and event materials are available while supplies last.

Have a Bat-tastic weekend everyone!

Here’s A First Look at LEGO Ninjago Movie’s Main Villain – Enter Lord Garmadon!

With The LEGO Batman Movie now poised to hit theaters next week, and perhaps to rake in a lot in the box office as well, Warner Bros. has now begun to tease on its third major film collaboration with LEGO. We already have an idea what The LEGO Ninjago Movie is all about since WB’s release of the film’s synopsis courtesy of Screen Rant:

Now if you read the synopsis carefully, it seems that our ninjas will have a lot on their plate other than the usual teenage issues. As mentioned in the synopsis, Lloyd and his friends must eventually come into terms of defeating the film’s main villain, Lord Garmadon. Quite unfortunately for the team, the evil warlord happens to be Lloyd’s dad as well. Though LEGO has unveiled the name of the various building sets that will accompany The LEGO Ninjago Movie, none of these seem to hint on how the nefarious Lord Garmadon looks like.

However, thanks to a Tweeter post from USA Today Life, we now have our first look on the evil villain of the film. Check this out.

Borrowing heavily from images of medieval Japan with its terrifying warlords and awe inspiring warriors, Lord Garmadon is a sight to behold. What’s even more exciting is the fact that USA Today Life hints on more reveals this coming weekend. Coupled with the fact that an official trailer for The LEGO Ninjago Movie may arrive soon as reported by Trailer Track, this weekend is certainly something to look forward to. LEGO movies are known for its comedic parodies on certain Hollywood themes: The LEGO Movie capitalizes on the notion of the Chosen One, while the upcoming The LEGO Batman Movie is a pun on the life of a self-centered, brooding superhero. The LEGO Ninjago Movie is no exception, following a plot that will probably make Anakin and Luke Skywalker smile. Here’s another shot of Lord Garmadon, as he is locked in combat with his son Lloyd. Credit goes to Promo Bricks for sharing this picture.

Whatever the case is, we’ll get a better idea once the official trailer hits online and on TV screens any time soon.

The LEGO Batman Movie opens in U.S. theaters next week, February 10, followed by The LEGO Ninjago Movie on September 22, The LEGO Movie 2 on February 8, 2019 and Billion Brick Race on May 24, 2019.
