This Is What We Know So Far About All The LEGO Batman Movie Sets That We’re Revealed.

February seems to be a long wait before our brick-built, black and yellow superhero returns to the big screen. Fan hype is steadily building around the upcoming LEGO Batman Movie, together with the impressive sets that have been revealed alongside the film. So before we swoon over at almost 20 sets and CMF series to be released under this theme, lets pause for a while and look back at what has been revealed so far, and what we can expect further from LEGO before the LEGO Batman Movie comes full swing in February next year.

There has been seven sets, and a polybag that was revealed so far, with the latter not been officially announced yet.

The Joker Balloon Escape (70900)

70900-1

Mr. Freeze Ice Attack (70901)

70902-1

The Batmobile (70905)

70905-1

The Joker’s  Notorious Lowrider (70906)

70906-1

The Scuttler (70908)

70908-1

Batcave Break-In (70909)

70909-1

Arkham Asylum (70912)

70912-1

As of to date, there are still around 13 sets waiting to be revealed, plus a LEGO Batman Movie CMF series that is rumored to include several DC characters (both heroes and villains) since the classic days of Batman that were alluded in the film. Director Chris McKay made it clear that Warner Bros’ brick-built film will feature a lot of Easter eggs that will showcase almost all key characters from the Batman comicverse.

lego-batman-movie-06

We are also getting a brick-built version of Clayface in Clayface Splat Attack (70904) and it is interesting to note that Brickset has tagged it as a ‘brick-built figure’. Though we don’t have any official images at this point, it is pretty safe to assume that Clayface may look similar to his theatrical version as seen below. We are also getting a bigfig version of the Killer Croc and it seems that he comes in a different color scheme and print as compared from how he looks like in Batman: Killer Croc Sewer Smash (76055).

lbm-brickfilm_contest

It also seems that it is not just Will Arnett’s Dark Knight, who is getting a lot of battle ready vehicles, but also some of his rogue villains. We already saw the Joker’s Notorious Lowrider (70906) and Penguin’s ‘Duck and Cover’ ride as seen in the Batcave Break-In (70909) set.  Other villains (and villainess) are also getting their own hot wheels such as Catwoman in the Catwoman Catcycle Chase (70902), the Riddler in The Riddler Riddle Racer (70903) and the posh Penguin’s Limo (70911).

There is also a polybag set that was revealed quite prematurely a few weeks back with the Batman in the Phantom Zone (30522). It features Batman in his new black and yellow minifigure form together with a robot-like contraption. As per request of LEGO, we’ve removed any reference to the said image, assuming that the polybag may have something to do with an important plot in the film. We do not have any information yet on how devoted LEGO Batman fans may obtain this polybag. We expect that this will be a hot item since this is definitely one of the cheapest ways of obtaining your own LEGO Batman minifigure.

This is so far what we know regarding the LEGO Batman Movie sets and we’ll keep you posted for other news and updates regarding this next LEGO movie hit. The LEGO Batman Movie will land on theaters worldwide starting February 10, 2017.

A Closer Look At Moana, Maui, and Hei Hei In LEGO Disney Moana on the High Seas 41150

It almost came out of nowhere when we first saw its image on LEGO’s December Store Calendar. Just in time before Disney’s Moana hit theaters this month, LEGO has finally revealed its next Disney-inspired set with LEGO Disney Moana on the High Seas (41150). As exciting as the set maybe for most LEGO and Disney fans, the image printed on the December Store Calendar was, unfortunately, a little out of focus. However, thanks to LEGO Club’s Yellow Brick Magazine for the month of November and December (particularly on page 5) we now have a closer look at set 41150, with high res images of Dwayne Johnson’s demigod character, Maui, Auli’i Cravalho’s Moana mini-doll rendition, and a new piece for Moana’s pet chicken, Hei Hei as voiced by Alan Tudyk.

41150 1

The print on Maui’s big fig version is absolutely superb, staying true to the demigod’s animated tattoos and determined expression. We also get to see a new rooster/chicken figure for Moana’s pet chicken Hei Hei. Love the aggressive look on his eyes, though I must admit that he looks more like a parrot of some sort because of his color scheme. Moana’s minidoll figure is also a little underwhelming which borrows heavily from the LEGO Friends theme. If there is one thing that this set was able to accomplish is the unorthodox combination of big figs and mini-dolls in a single set. I’m pretty sure that Maui’s big fig version will be a must-have for collectors and Disney fans alike.

Thanks to Minifigure Price Guide for the tip. Disney’s Moana set sails to US theaters on November 23, 2016.

Newest LEGO Batman Movie Trailer Is Out Now!

After several months of waiting, Warner Bros Pictures has now released the much anticipated follow-up trailer for its next brick-built movie. I wouldn’t comment much about it because I know you want to see it. Watch the latest official trailer of The LEGO Batman Movie below.

The trailer echoes the tone and focus of the previous ones: enabling the Dark Knight to realize that it ‘takes a team to build a hero’. It also gives us a closer look on Batman’s collection of sweet rides that were teased earlier. I love the distinct LEGO humor especially when Robin introduced the ‘Bat Kayak’. I assume it is a healthy dose of sarcasm on the fact that Batman’s collection of crime-fighting vehicles (including the Batsub and Bat Zeppelin) is as numerous as his different film iterations and costumes.

lego-batman-movie-05 lego-batman-movie-04lego-batman-movie-03

One thing that also caught my attention was the minifigure versions of Batman’s known enemies such as that of the Kiteman and King Tut as you can see them from the left side of this screenshot. It was rumored that Kiteman will be one of the villains to be included in the LEGO Batman Movie’s CMF series together with some other unnamed antagonists. There are also familiar faces among the Joker’s posse including King Tut and Man-Bat.

lego-batman-movie-01

Additionally, we get to see a possible LEGO set that was already listed by Brickset. Though there is no confirmation yet if this scene directly refers or hints at the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Balloon set (70900), but it is a good indicator that it may be so.

lego-batman-movie-02

We already know of several sets that were announced during this year’s San Diego Comic Con back in July, and during the most recent New York Comic Con held last month. Here are the LEGO Batman Movie sets that are yet to be officially revealed by TLG.

  • The Joker Balloon (70900)
  • Catwoman Catcycle Chase (70902)
  • The Riddler Riddle Racer (70903)
  • Clayface Splat Attack (70904)
  • Killer Croc (70907)
  • The Scuttler (70908)
  • Penguin’s Limo (70911)

It is very clear by now that LEGO and Warner Bros are heavily investing in the LEGO Batman Movie. With a total of 19 expected sets and a collectible minifig series, this is one LEGO theme that we will look forward to.

The LEGO Batman Movie hits US theatres on February 10, 2017.

LEGO Batman Movie Shows Off Batman’s Cool Rides.

Back in 2014, producer Chris Miller teased on the fact that the LEGO Batman Movie will virtually highlight every milestone in the superhero career of Bruce Wayne. “Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged,” says Miller. “There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there. There are 40 versions of his origin story alone”. His ever loyal butler and suave critic, Alfred, know Wayne so well that he can emphatically recall Batman go through “similar” phases from 1966 to 2016. It is a nice way of saying that there will plenty of Easter eggs scattered generously throughout its 1 hour and 30 minutes of expected runtime.

lego-batman-movie-poster

And earlier today, Warner Bros. shared a new image of the Caped Crusader that reveals another Easter egg and this time focusing on the Dark Knight’s sweet rides. Entertainment news portal Collider shared this image and if you look closely in the background, you’ll see his past rides transformed into their brick-built creations.

lego-batman-movie-vehicles

In spite of its many renditions, the iconic Batmobile will never go out of style as you can see in its classic form on the right side of the image. There also seems to be a newer rendition of the Batjet, a hovercraft of some sorts, and a jet-powered tugboat. Heck, Batman seems to have his own version of every known vehicle on the face of the planet and LEGO is keen on making the most out of it. There is no official word yet if these vehicles will make their way into official LEGO sets, but it’s nice to think about it considering that there are still 12 sets waiting to be revealed as listed by Brickset. We already know of two Batman vehicles built around The LEGO Batman Movie: a speedboat as seen in Batcave Break-In (70909) and the newer Batmobile (70905).

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

Will Arnett reprises his starring role from “The LEGO Movie” as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis (“Muppets Most Wanted,” the “Hangover” films) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s “Arrested Development”) as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s “Daredevil”) as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter” films) as Alfred.

“The LEGO® Batman Movie” will be directed by Chris McKay, and produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Roy Lee, who worked together on “The LEGO Movie.” It is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, with additional screenplay material by Jared Stern & John Whittington, based on LEGO Construction Toys. Jill Wilfert, Matthew Ashton and Will Allegra serve as executive producers.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Animation Group, in association with LEGO System A/S, a Lin Pictures / Lord Miller / Vertigo Entertainment production, “The LEGO Batman Movie” will open in theaters worldwide beginning February 10, 2017. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Try Not To Cringe With This Ultra-Realistic LEGO Facehugger MOC

There are some things that keep you awake at night – and I guess there’s another one that I will add up to my list. What you’re about to see is not a still photo from the next film from the classic sci-fi Alien franchise, but an ultra-realistic MOC that was spawned by the creative mind of LEGO builder mordatre. I have to say that if there are such things as brick-built nightmares, this is LEGO Facehugger MOC is the stuff that it’s made of. It can easily pass as a good Halloween prank if seen from afar. I love this shot where it seems to come alive as it ‘crawls’ up the stairs.

LEGO Facehugger

The Bionicle parts used to build the facehugger was really spot on and helped create a highly articulate and posable model of the vicious parasite. The choice of color for the exoskeleton was also very reminiscent of the alien facehugger as it is seen in the alien cult classic.

The attention to detail that mordatre gave to this terrying brick-creation is simply awesome. Even up-close, his creation still evokes some sort of a primal response that will make you want to torch the little bugger right away. The clever use of Technic and Bionicle parts in this build gives it a very intricate and organic look.

LEGO Facehugger MOC 4

LEGO Facehugger MOC 5

LEGO Facehugger MOC 2

I’m pretty sure if mordatre can figure away on how to motorize this MOC, then I will definitely have second thoughts before coming close to brick-built LEGO Facehugger MOC. Thanks to Brothers Brick for the heads-up.

Here Are More Updates From The LEGO DC Comics Rumor Mill!

Last month, we had a sneak peek at LEGO’s massive rumored sets slated to hit next year, including those under the DC Comics line. Thanks to LEGO insiders CM4Sci and Just2good, we now have an idea on how these sets will be like and they all seem to be pretty impressive. Though these are all treated as rumors and speculations, these legends have a pretty good track record when it comes to accurately describing what they see in LEGO’s crystal ball.

Taking hint from DC Comics’ newest line of famous female superheroes and super-villains typified in their teen years, LEGO’s iteration of DC’s Super Hero Girls consists of sets focusing on characters such as that of Batgirl, Lashida, Bumblee, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn. Here’s how CM4Sci describes them over at Eurobricks.

I’ve seen the sets, and they’re a lot better than I thought they’d be.
dc-superhero-girls

General facts:
Each set comes with a small, weird crystal-like villain build. Packaging is blue and sparkly, it looks very nice. There will be a 22-minute TV special, and 6 three-minute shorts. Release in February.

41230 – Batgirl’s Batjet – a small and round Batwing, it actually looks really neat. It uses the round UFO corners as the wings in a dark blue. In front is a pretty well hidden net launcher. Batgirl is in no way final but she’s sitting in the jet. There’s a small buggy for the yellow bad guy, who seems to be holding a phone?

41231 – Harley Quinn’s Cafe Rescue (?) – has a small, two floor cafe build labelled ‘Capes & Cowls’ Harley Quinn is on a flying net shooter with wings. The piece usually used for net launchers is the middle. Steve (is that his name?) is captured in a vine on the top floor. There’s a green crystal baddie included

41232 – The High School! – It looks so cool. It features a giant central tower with stickers that give off the perspective that it’s growing to a sharp point. Each side has a small part of the school with a flex tube used to create a cool design for the window. On top there’s a giant pink diamond. Now, what’s cool about this is that the entire center tower can be opened up to let loose Poison Ivy’s bike that shoots flowers! It creates a giant ramp. I don’t know who the bad guy is but they’re in a small, black/purple flying jet with a giant claw in front, flying towards the pink diamond. There are things like disc shooters to fight off the bad guys. The set comes with Supergirl, Poison Ivy, a creature Poison Ivy has created, Bad Guy, and 2 crystal baddies.

41233 – Lashida’s Action Rider – is in a small wheeled vehicle she sits on that is shoots studs at Krypto’s doghouse (uses Jasmine as a stand-in). Krypto uses a generic Friends dog but I’m sure there’ll be a new piece for him. Comes with Lashida, Krypto, and blue crystal bad creature

41234 – Bumblebee’s Helicopter – has a small spherical, dual rotor helicopter. The crystal guys are carrying a trunk full of yellow stuff. Comes with Bumblebee and two red crystal bad creatures.

41235 – Wonder Woman’s Dorm – has a closet, a bed with window, and a desk in patriotic colors. The transparent motorcycle sits atop a spinning platform. Wonder Woman comes with her lasso and is fighting an orange crystal creature.

The sets honestly look way better than I thought they would be, and the packaging just makes it even better!

In a similar vein, Just2good also dropped in his own predictions of what we can expect from LEGO and its partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures. With the film giant steadily building its DC’s Extended Universe, we can also expect the LEGO Group coming up with sets dedicated to these super hero films. We saw how LEGO came up with sets related to that of Superman’s return to the big screen back in 2013 with Man of Steel, particularly with Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002), Superman: Battle of Smallville (76003) and Superman: Black Zero Escape (76009). The more recent Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice also received the LEGO treatment with three sets namely Clash of the Heroes (76044), Kryptonite Interception (76045), and Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle (76046). This time, Just2good pulls off the veil a little and gives us a peak on what LEGO has in store with Warner Bros’ next offering with the Amazonian Princess Diana in Wonder Woman. To quote, here’s Just2good’s prediction:

lego-batman-3_wonderwoman_01

We will be getting a Wonder Woman movie set in 2017 – albeit an exclusive (like the Doctor Strange set), but it really makes me happy we’ll be getting at least one. Almost confident it’s minifigure based and under the DC Super Heroes line, but the only facts I know is that it’s coming and its exclusive.

That being the case, then this singular, LEGO Wonder Woman set will be LEGO’s second exclusive movie-based offering similar to that of Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060). We don’t have any updates yet on what particular scene this LEGO set will depict but we are confident that somebody knows about it out there considering the planning and amount of time required for LEGO designers to come up with a final set.

Finally, just in time before the cinematic version of the Justice League hits theaters in November of 2017, CM4Sci shares another juicy hint:

lego-justice-league-02

Lemme make it even better! We’re not getting one, not two, but THREE JUSTICE LEAGUE sets next summer!

CM4Sci’s hint seems to echo what LEGO has come up with in relation to Man of Steel and Batman VS Superman. Again, with regards to how these sets may possibly look like is still a mystery known only to a select few LEGO designers and top brass, most likely kept mum by a strict disclosure agreement. The truth is certainly out there!

So how do you think these sets will look like? What sets are you most excited about? Share us your predictions in the comments below or drop by our Facebook page and join in the discussions.

It’s Sensei VS Bird In This Teaser Clip From LEGO Ninjago Movie Short: “The Master”.

A few weeks ago, we mentioned that the LEGO Ninjago Movie will have a sort of a teaser preview in cinemas along with the release of Warner Bros. Animation, Storks. Following LEGO’s brand of humor, the said LEGO Ninjago Movie short entitled ‘The Master’, will feature Sensei Wu as he squares off against a feathered foe, The Chicken. Voiced by the legendary Jackie Chan himself, the wise-cracking Sensei Wu must rise up and prove himself as a worthy kung fu master by taking on a seemingly harmless bird.

Thanks to USA Today, we now have a glimpse on how Sensei Wu’s encounter with pesky, plastic chicken may turn out. Other than showcasing the Master’s fighting prowess, the teaser gives us a general look and feel on how the LEGO Ninjago Movie will play out. Check the teaser below.

It’s sort of shocking albeit funny, to see how a chicken can bring down a temple while slamming Sensei Wu to the ground. As it seems, the famed kung fu master has found his match against a clucking chicken voiced by actress comedienne Abbi Jacobson, who happens also to be the voice behind femme fatale Nya.

Following in the tradition of the LEGO Movie, the LEGO Ninjago movie brings a new look and feel in animation style. As Brickset points out, while the structures used in the film seem to be made entirely of animated LEGO elements, new organic foliage and clouds have been introduced as well giving it a backyard feel and experience.

636084611960329193-njg-mstr-0007

The LEGO Ninjago Movie short is a humorous study in contrast between the control-obsessed kung fu master and the flightless harbinger of chaos. Director Jon Sunders, who also wrote ‘The Master’ together with Ross Evans, says “My writing partner and I went really off the wall showing Master Wu desperately wanting to star in his own short film, but this chicken keeps coming in and not allowing him to have his moment”. Ross further explains, “It’s control vs. chaos. Wu is this character very much in control of his entire world, almost obsessive-compulsive (about) maintaining perfect order. Chicken is free-flow and chaos. When Master Wu accepts that it’s OK his temple got ruined, that nothing is perfect, that’s when they come into harmony.” So how’s that for an object lesson. I guess no one is too old to learn a thing or two from a little, ‘harmless’ bird.

636084611307153006-njg-mstr-0004

The LEGO Ninjago Movie is slated to hit theaters next year, September 22, 2017. The film tells the story of six young ninja tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they’re gifted warriors, using their skill and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they’re ordinary teens, struggling against their greatest enemy: high school.
