New “LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2” DLC: Marvel’s “Runaways” Level and Characters

Advertisements

Just when you thought that nothing more may come for the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 videogame by way of additional downloadable content, a new batch drops in on us once more. The themes of added characters for LMSH2 tend to vary from comic book events to MCU movie releases such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the recent monumental blockbuster, the Black Panther.

Our last update on LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 DLC saw the superhero tandem of Cloak and Dagger which was released in March. Now, we’re making it known that the latest batch of additions to the game is available for download. This one’s based on Runaways, the Marvel Comics that has been adapted into a TV series on Hulu.

In terms of new characters, the LMSH2 Runaways DLC includes the members of the ad hoc team of empowered teenagers (in their comic versions): sorceress Nico Minoru, tech-head Chase Stein, genius Alex Wilder, secret alien Karolina Dean, super-strong Molly Hayes, gene-engineered dinosaur Old Lace, and its telepathic minder Gertrude Yorkes.

To maximize the gameplay experience with the Runaways, the DLC also has a new game level: the Marine Vivarium under the sea where these young do-gooders must escape and foil the schemes of their sinister parents, who are part of The Pride secret society. Time to prove evil isn’t hereditary.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Traveller’s Tales present this new DLC for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, worth $2.99 for download on the basic game version, and free if playing on the LMSH2 Deluxe Edition. As always, the game is on Microsoft Windows and Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

The LEGO Group Owners Doing Investment on London Real Estate

Advertisements

The LEGO Group, which operates what is probably the greatest toy manufacturer in the world, is also distinct in that, unlike global rivals like Hasbro or Mattel which are publicly traded on the stock market, remains privately owned by the family of its original founder, and likely staying that way.

Kjeld Kirk Christiansen, current head of the family that owns The LEGO Group, is also head of KIRKBI A/S, a holding firm that oversees the family’s other investments. The latest news is that KIRKBI is planning to expand investing in the UK, by acquiring additional pieces of London real estate.

It may be that the Christiansen family is unconcerned by the potential economic upheaval that might ensue when the UK completes its separation from the European Union; but they through KIRKBI had, just earlier in the year, acquired Porter Wharf’s office buildings in the Potter-famous King’s Cross district of London.

KIRKBI CEO Soren Thorup Sorensen explains the company’s boldness in investing on post-Brexit-vote UK by noting that certain parts of the city do not fall under the country’s financial sector, which would be the most-affected in any Brexit developments. They plan to acquire more properties tied to tech and media.

The London property acquisition ties into the general objective by KIRKBI to expand its real estate portfolio. In addition to the UK, they have made inquiries in Germany and Switzerland as well. Thanks to wise investments as these Kjeld Kirk Christiansen’s personal fortune is currently valued at over $5 billion.

Primary assets of the Christiansen Family’s KIRKBI A/S are its 75% ownership stake of The LEGO Group, as well as 30% in Merlin Entertainments, the UK-based entertainment company that operates a wide variety of parks, resorts and hotels worldwide. That includes the LEGO-branded LEGOLAND theme parks found around the world.

The LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron (42083) Eyed For An Early VIP Release In May

Advertisements

I guess there is no disagreeing on the fact that the now released LEGO Store May Calendar is jam packed with promos and announcements that LEGO fans will closely watch for. Aside from the reveal of a new pair of LEGO BrickHeadz and a buildable Porg, we now have a teaser of sorts for not just one, but two exclusive direct-to-consumer (D2C) sets.

If you recall earlier last month, LEGO has revealed that the initially planned release date of August for the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron (42083) has been eventually advanced in June. Additionally, LEGO’s presence in the Geneva Auto Show 2018 further suggested that the release date could be as early as May as you can see from the image below courtesy of Zusammengebaut.

Now given all these info, it’s not difficult to predict that the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron is now all set up to be our next exclusive, early VIP release next month. The 3,599-piece set is the second model to follow from Technic’s Ultimate subtheme ahead of the equally impressive Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056). We managed to have a glimpse of how the set will look, and all I can say is that it’s predominantly blue and black color scheme and curvatures are a sight to behold. The back side of the build is bespeaks of the technical complexity of the actual Chiron, with the classy inclusion of an exclusive, printed Chiron and Bugatti logo pieces. Since the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron is believed to be available for early VIP access next month, it can be expected that official images of the set will be available anytime soon this April.

Now, the LEGO Store May Calendar mentions another exclusive D2C set which will be released alongside the LEGO Technic Chiron. Some LEGO fan sites predict this to be another LEGO Creator Expert set (31084), the rumored LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043), or another never-before-seen Jurassic Park commemorative set.  In any case, expect that these exclusive D2C sets will eventually revealed anytime soon this April.

Be Sure To Bring Home This Buildable LEGO Porg This Month of May

Advertisements

The LEGO Store May Calendar is now out and as expected, the Force is strong with this month’s promos and highlights. LEGO is all ready to go come May the 4th, especially with its in-store activities and freebies. So before we are treated with a UCS-like Porg (75230) sometime in October, LEGO is giving us a taste of things to come with an exclusive Make and Take Build event in all LEGO brand stores from May 4 to 6. Open to all children ages 6-14, participants will be treated to a LEGO buildable Porg which is actually our very first official LEGO Porg set.

Here’s the full announcement as mentioned at the back of the LEGO Store May Calendar:

May the 4th Be With You! (May 4-6)

All weekend, come in dressed as your favorite character! You can also participate in an exclusive Porg Make and Take Build that you get to take home – for free! Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and quantities are limited. Stop by or call your local LEGO Store to sign up starting April 1. This activity is intended for children ages 6-14 only. See a Brick Specialist for details.

As you may notice, registration is already on-going which began early this month. I’m quite positive that this is one Make and Take build that will prove to be quite popular among the LEGO faithful, and it is understandable if registration will be full even a month before the event. We just hope that like similar previous promos, LEGO will make the instructions available online since the pieces used for this kind of sets are usually easy to find and may in fact already be part of your existing LEGO collection.

So what do you think of this exclusive Porg Make and Take build? Will you sign-up your kid or sibling for this one? Let me know in the comments below.

New LEGO Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Baby Velociraptor Playpen (30382) Polybag Appears

Advertisements

Here’s another unlikely find. It looks like LEGO is still not done with its tiny, little surprises, which this time, comes in a small package. Just in time before the LEGO Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom sets are released this month, Promobricks revealed that the theme will be having another polybag set under its belt. Following its very first polybag promo back in 2015 with the Gallimimus Trap (30320), it looks the Fallen Kingdom subtheme will be receiving the same treatment.

Thanks to one of Promobricks’ readers, we now have our first image of the LEGO Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Baby Velociraptor Playpen (30382) set which might be our second dino-themed JW polybag promo anytime soon. Check out its image below.

As you can see, the polybag consists of a Baby Velociraptor minifig (or microfig depending on how you look at it) in what looks like a playpen contraption standing on a 12X3 base, including a drumstick and some bone elements. The obvious selling point for this set is the Baby Velociraptor itself, considering that the same microfig can only be found in two recently revealed, upcoming JWFK sets: the Dilophosaurus Outpost Attack (75931) and T. Rex Transport (75933).

Details of when, where, and how to get this polybag is still scant but our best guess is that it will be available sometime  in May just in time with the film’s theatrical release.

LEGO BrickHeadz Justice League Tactical Batman and Superman 2-pack (41610) Coming In May

Advertisements

We’ve finally got the nitty-gritty about what LEGO’s going to be up to next month, with the release of the LEGO Store May promotional calendar that we’ve covered earlier. LEGO Star Wars, most especially the tie-in merchandise for the Solo spinoff, occupied prominent spots, but there was space for other fandoms too.

For instance, at the back of the calendar there was a small box announcing an upcoming new BrickHeadz set with two figures of DC characters. It should be noted that Superman already has a prior BrickHeadz version of himself with the Superman & Wonder Woman (41490) SDCC exclusive while Batman has two: the Batman & The Joker (41491), also another 2016 SDCC exclusive, and the LEGO Batman Movie Batman BrickHeadz (41585).  This time around, they’re making a comeback now rendered in Justice League looks.

This new LEGO BrickHeadz set is a 2-pack of Batman in his “Tactical” armored suit and Superman of course, as seen in the Warner Bros. DCEU film Justice League from last year. The LEGO DC Justice League BrickHeadz Tactical Batman and Superman (41610) both features design aesthetics as seen from the characters in the Justice League film – from the lines in Superman’s suit to Batman’s “abdominal armor” detailing.

As with most other LEGO BrickHeadz twofer packages, this newest addition will be priced at $19.99 when it comes out in May. With their release, all members of the movie-version Justice League will have gotten BrickHeadz adaptations, making for a nice little collection.

New Crime Waves World Hubs Revealed In LEGO The Incredibles Video Game

Advertisements

After the official unveiling of the very first Disney Pixar/LEGO video game last week, we now have some particularly interesting details that set the LEGO Incredibles 2 video game apart from other LEGO game titles. The Insider managed to land an interview with TT Games Executive Producer Nick Ricks, where the latter revealed some pretty interesting gameplay that will not just involve the Parr family, but also an expansive array of other characters as well.

Ricks tells Insider that the development of the LEGO Incredibles 2 video game had begun since early 2016, with close collaboration with Disney Pixar to make sure that the characters and story remain true to the original.

“This collaboration certainly comes through strongly with the innovations we’ve made in the characters designs and abilities, along with ensuring the dialogue, scene selection and camera work are some of the best that I’ve ever seen. On top of this we have a massive open-world hub, filled with crime lords that must be cleaned up, all new ways to build immense Lego structures and focus on the Parr family’s collaborative crime-fighting results.”.

Ricks also disclosed that the upcoming game will also feature a ‘massive open-world hub’ which they refer to as ‘crime waves’. He really cannot say if this LEGO Incredibles 2 world hub will be as immense as that of LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2, but what is interesting is the potential scope and game play that this world hub will feature. For sure, locations like Municiberg and Syndrome’s Nomanisan Island will be referred to as well.

Alongside the narratives of both films, we’ve crammed our world full of the challenges and puzzles players have come to expect, and added something new; crime waves. In these sections, our massive hub world has been sub-divided in to a series of districts, each under the dominion of an infamous crime lord. The players will need to use the family’s differing and unique crime-fighting styles to defeat the goons, confront the lords, and bring law and order to all.”

Other than confirming that material and storylines from both films will be featured in LEGO Incredibles 2, the game becomes more engaging with the several challenges and puzzles that will be included in its massive world hub. Without giving too much spoilers about the upcoming sequel, Rick confirmed that a host of playable characters will be available other than the titular members of the Parr family. I can just imagine a host of Supers that were briefly showed in the first film getting their own digital LEGO minifigure versions.

The Crime Waves sections are something to look to forward to, and we still yet to see if LEGO Incredibles 2 will be as expansive as that of TT Games’ LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2. In any case, this one LEGO video game title that we will watch out for just in time with the film’s theatrical release on June 15. If you’re excited about this game as much as we are, then here’s the game’s official trailer once again. You can also pre-order your copy depending on your preferred platform.
