LEGOLAND Florida Announces Schedule of Ninjago Days Events, Plus Premiere of 4D Ninjago Film.

It will even premiere a brand new 4D movie, LEGO Ninjago: Master of the 4th Dimension, while the Ninjago Days festivities will last all through the weekend.

Said update also noted that LEGO Ninjago Days is happening at all LEGOLAND theme parks, and now the latest news has LEGOLAND Florida putting up its calendar schedule for when they’ll be holding Ninjago Days. As it turns out, they’re having it for three weekends from this month to February.

LEGO-UNICEF Collaboration Has Children “Direct” an Ad About “Right to Play” in Celebration of World Children’s Day.

It’s always heartwarming to come across a bit of special-interest news with LEGO involved, and nothing’s more direct to the point than when it’s an official involvement by The LEGO Group. Their partner in this special endeavor is the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), in commemoration of World Children’s Day.

The theme that LEGO and UNICEF touched on for World Children’s Day is the promotion of the right for children all over the world to play. As part of their social media campaign #KidsTakeOver, UNICEF sent four children to LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark to produce a special LEGO advertisement.

With Brick Fanatics providing video documentation, the children-turned-directors, all aged 10, conferred with LEGO’s creative design team to conceptualize their planned LEGO-UNICEF ad about the importance of play. Their pitch was for a minifigure super-team called Fantasy Force, and after some brainstorming and storyboarding, the ad was put into production.

While the LEGO production team turn the advertising pitch into reality, the “children who took over” were able to indulge in the wonderland environment of LEGO HQ, with its extra-large furniture, tube slides and – of course – LEGO bricks. They also took the time to talk about the importance of play.

Once completed, the LEGO-UNICEF Fantasy Force ad, using stop-motion animation of LEGO sets and minifigures, was shown. It involves the titular Fantasy Force – a woman wearing a cape and using a skateboard, accompanied by a cat, parrot and dog – barging into a home with an oblivious dad and a bored little boy.

The FF admonishes the parent for not giving time for his son to play games and use his imagination. Their moral for the advert’s story is that kids all over the world must remind grownups that “the best way for children to learn and grow is through play.” All in all it was a cute tribute by UNICEF, with LEGO’s help, for World Children’s Day.

Third 2017 LEGO Ideas Review Project Candidates Announced.

The Third 2017 LEGO Ideas Review qualifying period ended earlier today, and we now have a list of seven projects that qualified for the LEGO Ideas Review Stage. These are the projects that fans supported for, and were able to gather the necessary 10,000 votes during the voting stage. For the first time ever in LEGO Ideas, 3 out of these 7 projects were all credited to Robert Bontenbal (aka RobenAnne), the fan designer of the LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310).

It is expected that the LEGO Ideas Review Team will announce the next LEGO Ideas set from this batch sometime this Summer. Take a look at the 7 projects that qualify during this period.

Frankly, most, if not all of these sets, are somehow lacking that ‘wow’ factor that characterized earlier projects like the still to be revealed, Voltron – Defender of the Universe (21311?), Ship in a Bottle (21313), and NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309). I’m placing my cards on the Pop-Up Book and the Jaguar E-Type Roadster, but still, both are relatively underwhelming as compared to the sets that I mentioned.

We just have to see how things will turn out this Summer when the result of this recent review cycle is announced. What LEGO Ideas project do you believe will make it to the cut? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) Teaser Reveals First Official Image.

LEGO has released its first ‘official’ (aka non-leaked) image of the next LEGO Ideas set slated to be released this January. Released via its social media channels, this fan designed LEGO set from Jacob Sadovich features his original Ship in a Bottle, Flagship Leviathan, which was successfully considered to be an official LEGO Ideas set during the LEGO Ideas Third 2016 Review Stage.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there was a leaked image of 21313 that made its rounds over LEGO fan forums and Instagram which allowed us a first look at the set. I love how the designers recreated the bottle’s overall, streamlined appearance. Its base was thoughtfully recreated as well, and attention to detail was evident on how the cork was made using reddish brown and gold LEGO pieces. However, I expect that the ship’s design will be more faithful to Jacob’s original creation which is more realistic and aesthetically impressive.

The LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) is expected to be released anytime soon this January, so more official images will be out anytime soon.

New on LEGO Friends: Clubhouse Pod (5005236) Featuring Stephanie.

Here’s another update following up from our recent feature on the LEGO Ninjago Sons of Garmadon Zane Pod (5005230). The Ninjago line isn’t the only one getting some character pod love lately, especially in light of the New Year. Another LEGO label with a new pod coming is LEGO Friends.

Humongous play sets aren’t the only thing in store for 2018 with LEGO’s hip girls-oriented product line. They’ve also got some compact goodies in store. Take for instance this upcoming polybag, LEGO Friends Clubhouse Pod (5005236). It’s filled with plenty of props, a LEGO Friends minifigure and even a pet.

Featured in the Clubhouse Pod (5005236) is sporty Stephanie in the characteristic LEGO Friends minifigure type: larger and more detailed. As is her type, our athletic blonde in the circle of Friends is dressed in simple active-wear, with a shirt for their hometown of Heartlake City, plus skirt and shoes.

Stephanie isn’t all alone in her pod (500526) however; she’s also got her pet hamster figure along for the ride. The other half of the pod is stocked with “mission gear” props not just for her, but for all of the LEGO Friends, almost all featuring grips for minifigure handling.

From a GPS pad to binoculars, Stephanie’s Clubhouse Pod (5005236) is a welcome add-on for any of the large LEGO Friends sets that don’t have her among the included minifigures. She and her collection of gadgets simply bring more fun. Since official images of this polybag, along those with LEGO Ninjago have already surfaced, we can fairly say that this new LEGO Friends polybag may be expected to arrive in stores in the next few weeks.

More LEGO Ninjago Polybags for 2018 – WU-CRU Target Training (30530) and Training Kit (5005231).

Over the weekend we got word about a new LEGO Pod featuring Zane from LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu – Sons of Garmadon (5005230). Needless to say, LEGO has a whole lot more where that came from in terms of brand new LEGO Ninjago stuff set to come out this 2018.

Case in point, we now have two more polybags in the LEGO Ninjago line for avid collectors to snap up. One is a standard play set with two minifigures, a mini-structure, and props galore. The other is a set that the player directly interacts with.

As reported by The Brick Fan, the first is the LEGO Ninjago WU-CRU Target Training (30530) which is a fairly basic set featuring characters Lloyd Garmadon and Nya in WU-CRU garb, practicing target training. It bears a close resemblance to the LEGO Ninjago WU-CRU Traning Dojo (30424) polybag released in 2016. The target’s a dartboard suspended in a Japanese mon/gate frame that they’re trying to hit with shuriken, though they’ve also got a spear and sword to spar with. It is also interesting to note that having Nya and Lloyd in this particular polybag now completes the ninja’s roster in their new training garb: with Kai in Kai’s Dojo Pod (5004916), Zane in Zane’s Kendo Training Pod (5005230), and Jay and Cole in their black outfits with Jay (853758) and Cole (853759) Dojo Pods.

Next up is the LEGO Ninjago Training Kit (5005231) set. As stated earlier, it’s unique in that the LEGO player himself actually manipulates the set as part of Ninjago training. From the polybag illustration, it seems to involve stacking bricks of different shapes and sizes.

From a certain point of view the whole exercise looks like a round of LEGO Jenga with a Ninjago twist. After all, the player in the illustration was doing his stacking with a pair of chopsticks. Also included are a Lord Garmadon mini-standee and a shuriken, probably the standee’s base.

They’re due to come out anytime soon, so it won’t be long until we get down to the finer details of both; we hope you’ll stick around here at The Brick Show.

Additional LEGO Ninjago Pod Revealed – LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu Sons of Garmadon Zane Pod (5005230).

It looks like we’ll be getting another LEGO Ninjago pod anytime soon. After Kai, Jay, and Cole received their respective training/battle pods, it seems that its Zane’s turn to have his skills honed. We were able to have the following official image of the LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu Sons of Garmadon Zane Pod (5005230), similar to that of Jay (853758) and Cole (853759), that features the icy cool Zane with his signature long range ninja weaponry.

scaled 5005230 Prod

Like the previous pods, this one features a kendo helmet with black, gold and white printing, a pair of golden shurikens, and a bow. Zane also comes with the same predominantly white minifig torso and legs, very much like with Kai has in the LEGO Ninjago Kai Pod (5004916) which we first saw back in July. I think this is the best LEGO Ninjago pod that I have seen so far (I like how the white pod looks like in this image), which leaves us with only Nya and Lloyd still waiting to have their own respective training pods. We’ll see if LEGO has something like that in the works, but for the meantime, be sure to check out what’s in store for the next wave of LEGO set releases due to be out this Summer.

LEGO City Become My City Hero (40302) Polybag Official Image + Building Instructions.

If you recall, we previously reported on a new LEGO City polybag that was spotted in Spain’s First LEGO Certified Store last December. The LEGO City Become My City Hero (40302) polybag went for sale at the said LCS, retailing for 4.99 Euros. As it seems, it is an add-on for LEGO City’s more recent Mountain Police subtheme. Now that we have its official image, we can now take a look at the finer details of this latest LEGO City polybag. Check this out.

polybagThis  comes in at approximately 90-130 pieces, with a Mountain Police/Ranger and dog minifigure plus a couple of smaller builds that looks like a hideout for crooks to keep their stolen gold and cash, and some log pieces. We don’t have details yet on this polybag’s availability but in case you want to give it a try and make this set, LEGO has uploaded 40302’s building instructions via its customer service portal. Check out and see if you have the parts to build this one.

Though there is no new element or piece that was introduced in the LEGO City Become My City Hero (40302) polybag, it’s a great way to get an additional Mountain Police and dog minifigures. We’ll keep our radars open once this polybag becomes available in the US, so keep tabs with us here on the Brick Show.
