LEGO Unveils Five New LEGO Animal Crossing Sets

Advertisements

After a series of teasers and numerous speculations, LEGO has at long last officially revealed their latest offering: the much-awaited LEGO Animal Crossing sets, inspired by Nintendo’s widely beloved video game series. The enchanting universe of Animal Crossing, which has captured the hearts of countless players, is now making its debut in the form of LEGO bricks, together with other LEGO Nintendo sets.

LEGO Animal Crossing Features Several Scenes and Beloved Characters that Fans Will Surely Adore

In partnership with Nintendo, LEGO has created five unique sets that allow builders to dive headfirst into the charming world of the beloved video game franchise. These sets open up the possibility of crafting various stories within their brick-constructed landscapes.

If you recall, back in 2021, LEGO’s first partnership with Animal Crossing came with a surprising theme. The now-discontinued LEGO Vidiyo characters made an appearance in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons video game. And two years since then, we will be seeing actual LEGO Animal Crossing sets rolled-out during the Q1 of 2024.

This first wave of LEGO Animal Crossing sets has been designed for easy assembly for younger LEGO fans while offering a high degree of customization that other builders and collectors will enjoy.

For example, you can effortlessly switch elements between buildings, even the window frames. Every set can be mixed and matched, giving builders the freedom to curate their own distinct worlds and settings. Plus of course, the lovely minifigures that go with them. These could easily pass as a LEGO Collectible Minifigure series in my opinion.

The new range comprises the following sets:

Julian’s Birthday Bash

In this set, builders can join Julian in a delightful birthday celebration. They can partake in cupcake-sharing and present-opening festivities, adding a personal touch to the party.

Bunnie’s Outdoor Adventures

LEGO Animal Crossing Bunnie’s Outdoor Activities set offers the chance to role-play setting up a tent, roasting marshmallows, and using the vaulting pole to leap across the water, all while grabbing tools reminiscent of the video game series.

Kapp’n’s Island Boat Tour

LEGO and Animal Crossing fans are in for a treat with the LEGO Animal Crossing Kapp’n’s Island Boat Tour. This brick-built adventure allows you to board the boat with Kapp’n and Marshal, embark on a quest for coconuts and bamboo, discover the local wildlife, such as hermit crabs and fish, or simply relax by the fire.

Isabelle’s House Visit

Young LEGO builders can let their creativity shine by assisting Isabelle and Fauna in customizing Fauna’s house. With the LEGO Animal Crossing Isabelle’s House Visit, builders can customize the set by including a plethora of activities like unwrapping balloon presents, crafting tools, and harvesting fruits and flowers.

Nook’s Cranny & Rosies House

This set features two famous landmarks in the Animal Crossing video game. You can join in shopping sprees at Nook’s Cranny shop or savor freshly baked goodies at Rosie’s house.

LEGO Animal Crossing Sets Are Now Up at LEGO.com

The highly-anticipated LEGO Animal Crossing sets will be globally available at all LEGO Stores, various retailers, and LEGO.com beginning March 1, 2024.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to bring your favorite video game world to life with these captivating sets. Check out their official product images and descriptions below.

Weekend Builds: Create Your Own Custom LEGO Nintendo Switch

Advertisements

LEGO and Nintendo fans have plenty to look forward to this summer. After giving us a glimpse of things to come this summer for the LEGO Super Mario theme, why not consider making your very own custom LEGO Nintendo Switch courtesy of LEGO master builder and artist, Tiago Catarino.

Shared over his YouTube channel, Tiago was kind enough to show us the building process, and even the parts list, in creating his video tutorial. And if LEGO perchance has seen Tiago’s video already, then it might be high time for TLG to consider offering an official LEGO Nintendo Switch set. It’s just fitting, in my opinion, considering that LEGO already took the effort and time to offer us a beautifully made LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374).

One of the cool things about Tiago’s build is that it features detachable joycons similar to what you have in an actual Switch. His custom LEGO Nintendo Switch can also be modified to become a Switch Lite by swapping the colors for the joycons. Then it’s up to your imagination to fill in the screen with whatever video game scene you will fancy.

This custom LEGO Nintendo Switch Lite from Tiago comes with a pair of detachable brick-built joycons.
And just by swapping colors, you can come up with a LEGO version of the original Nintendo Switch.

For the parts list, be sure to check first the last few seconds of the video and see if you have the necessary parts needed to build this custom LEGO model. Special thanks once again to Tiago for sharing his creation.

If you like this custom LEGO set, then you might be interested to take a look at some of the custom LEGO video game consoles offered at our official storefront at The Brick Show Shop.  It’s a trip down gaming history with our collection of custom LEGO sets from the good ol’ days of console gaming. Surprise! LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) Coming In August!

Advertisements

I’ve been down and out during these past few days (okay, more than that I guess) due to a very worrisome case of cough and colds. And imagine my surprise when I finally got back to check things out on what LEGO has been building lately. Lo and behold – here’s something that will have every LEGO Nintendo fan jumping from their seats. Because as it turns out, we can all expect the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) to arrive sometime in August and it’s a long time coming of great things to come from an official LEGO-Nintendo partnership.

This info came from Chinese gaming blog site VJ Gamer, where box art images of the set also appeared on their site. Since the author of the site did not make it clear where he got the images of the boxed set, I’m playing on the safe side here on not showing the set’s images since it is most likely to be under embargo. However, I guess its fair game for me to give my thoughts on this very, very beautiful set.

From the get-go, the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) clearly has the older, and Nintendo-nostalgic LEGO community in mind. The box art design also sports the new 18+ design, hinting on the fact that is intended for AFOLs. The set comes in at 2,646 pieces that allow you to build a 1:1 brick-built NES console with controller. It also comes with a similarly scaled game cartridge of the very first Super Mario video game for the NES. And to top off the iconic video game experience, there’s also a classic, brick-built CRT television to hook up the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment console.

By now, we are all familiar with how LEGO pays careful attention to details, and this LEGO NES is loaded with those little touches that make LEGO sets like this more endearing. As it seems, this set will come with a collection of uniquely molded Super Mario characters never before seen even in the new LEGO Super Mario sets. The LEGO NES will feature a collection of new, irregularly shaped tile pieces that take inspiration from the game’s classic 8-bit format. We have Mario himself, a Goomba, a Super Mushroom, a Red Shell, a Super Star, and a Mystery (?) Block. Beyond aesthetics, the LEGO NES also has several play features that allow you to have the 8-bit LEGO Mario ‘move’ on the TV screen using a lever mounted on the side. Plus, placing the newer LEGO Super Mario figure (from the LEGO Super Mario Starter Course 71360) on top of the brick-built TV set will most likely activate new voice features from the figure itself.

Lastly according to VJ Gamer, the LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System (71374) will be available starting August 1 and will retail for 229.99 Euro. Given that the official reveal will most likely happen in two weeks’ time, we can surely expect LEGO’s official reveal anytime soon.

So what do you think of this latest LEGO set? Are you excited about this as much as we are? Fire away with your comments below.

Special thanks to Lukas from Stone Wars for the heads up.

LEGO Super Mario is Really Happening!

Advertisements

In a surprising turn of events earlier today, LEGO has dropped a teaser bomb that left most LEGO and Nintendo fans in awe. It’s a long time coming, and fans are still grasping for hints and details on what this upcoming LEGO Super Mario theme is, as announced by LEGO themselves through their social media channels.

There has been a lot of fan theories on what this reveal will be. However, based on the promotional teaser above, it’s really kind of hard to tell what it will be. For starters, the timing of LEGO’s announcement couldn’t be better: March 10 is the official global Happy Mario Day, celebrating Nintendo’s entire Super Mario franchise. Nintendo has chosen this day back in 2016 as the de facto date for the annual celebration, though it does not necessarily mean that it was the official date when the first titular Super Mario video game was released. March 10 was selected simply because of its uncanny resemblance (Mar10) to our plumber hero’s name.

Speaking of resemblance, the figure that LEGO teased in their most recent promotion is needless to say, far from the typical LEGO minifigure that we have. In fact, my first impression upon seeing this LEGO Mario is that it might very well pass for a LEGO Duplo figure, with its 4-stud wide base and over-sized blocky head.

This first official image of a LEGO Super Mario figure seems to follow the design of those found in LEGO Duplo.

Knowledgable Super Mario fans also point out to the fact that this official LEGO version has a very similar look to that of Mario Zone – one of the areas featured in the 1992 video game, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. There is a bit of truth in that similarity considering that this LEGO version of Mario does not seem to be quite organic with its electronic screen, and analog eyes and mouth.

The Mario Zone – a level featured in the 1992 Nintendo video game, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

Fans are still speculating if this LEGO-Nintendo collab will either lead to a wave of new LEGO Super Mario sets, or a new LEGO video game. LEGO is obviously keeping a tight lid on what it has in store – even LEGO’s VP for Design Matthew Ashton is not telling.

With this recent announcement, it clear that LEGO and Nintendo have moved on with their once bitter rivalry when the LEGO Group sued Japan’s biggest video game company back in the 60s for the latter’s introduction of N&B Block. Past forward in 2020, we can now expect great things to come now that they hurdled the licensing issues that weighed down both companies. For the longest time, LEGO fans have translated their love for both LEGO and Nintendo games in many creative ways that made us wish that these are actual LEGO sets. One great example are these custom LEGO Mario Cubes created by our pals from Build Better Bricks.

Honestly, I hope that LEGO Super Mario is just the beginning. With so many Nintendo names and titles to choose from to become an official LEGO set, we might be looking at the beginning of a LEGO Kirby, Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing, Metroid, and other LEGO Nintendo subthemes. The possibilities are so very exciting!

So what’s your take on this surprising announcement? Are we to see new LEGO Super Mario sets, and if so, what sets are you looking forward to? Or is this a new video game or LEGO lifestyle partnership in the works? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
