By now, the second big trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part has come out, and with it the reveal of the 2019 official tie-in sets for the film also releasing with it next year. The fact that it involves “aliens” from space would explain the prominence of new character Rex Dangervest and returning face Benny the spaceman.
One the LEGO set front, Benny’s sudden importance is reflected in the set “Benny’s Space Squad” (70841), a marvelous throwback to LEGO’s 1980s space line, with basic-build space vehicles and additional astronaut minifigure buddies for Benny, the titular Space Squad.
To further hype this particular LEGO Movie 2 tie-in, film executive producer and LEGO VP of Design Matthew Ashton revealed the names of Benny’s Space Squad teammates, which would also be known through the back of their box. Besides Benny we now have Kenny (yellow), Lenny (pink) and Jenny (white).
And as an FYI – the yellow one is called Kenny and the white one is Jenny! #classicspace #lego @TheLEGOMoviesUK @LEGO_Group @TheLEGOMovie https://t.co/RibWPNUhYJ

Perhaps the comedic part of this is that all members of the Space Squad are identical in appearance barring uniform colors (and the wear-n-tear on Benny). So it’s quite surprising that the pink astronaut isn’t named Jenny; seriously the names can be easily mixed up, which may be the point.
LEGO Movie 2 Benny’s Space Squad (70841) comprises Benny and his team, plus a robot buddy, a lunar buggy, one-man shuttle and various tools including Jenny’s gun (emphasized in the product description). Priced at only $9.99 it’s a steal for fans of The LEGO Movie 2, premiering February 8, 2019.
