For AFOLs and more tech/mechanically-inclined LEGO builders, nothing makes builds more “alive” than featuring mechanical functions in it. This can be simple as a hand-cranked mechanism to make things move, spin and so on. On the complex end a LEGO build could have motor-powered parts and lighting, like with train sets and such. Motor-powered vehicle or structural builds are just the ticket to add “animation” to any LEGO neighborhood. For AFOL builders thinking of creating a brick-built seaside landscape, the next LEGO Ideas set release will do nicely. It having a motorized light fixture makes the build “accurate” in aesthetics.

Promobricks brings us word on the LEGO Ideas Motorized Lighthouse (21335), now officially listed on LEGO Shop. With 2,065 pieces you can build the quaint Aurora Point Lighthouse, with tower and keeper’s cottage. Being a lighthouse, the set features a motorized rotating light, magnified by a Fresnel lens element. In addition, the cottage below also has a light-up red fireplace to keep the lighthouse keeper warm. He’ll need all the comfort to do his job providing navigational aid to mariners like the fisherman on his dinghy. Catch this latest Ideas set next month on September 1. And now the details:
