Could This Be The New LEGO Star Wars The Death Star (75159) UCS Minifigures?

Death-Star1

Rumor has been thick regarding LEGO’s next D2C exclusive coming this September. We already know that one of these is the Winter Holiday Train (10254) which will be made available for early access to all VIP members starting September 15. To sweeten the deal, LEGO opted to throw in another direct-to-consumer exclusive alongside the release of 10254. Though we haven’t heard of any official confirmation from LEGO as of this writing (which we strongly feel could happen anytime soon), there is strong reason to believe that this will be the next LEGO Ultimate Collector Series that will pay tribute to the most fearsome weapon ever devised in the Star Wars galaxy.

Thanks to German LEGO fan site Promo Bricks, we now have a glimpse of what could be the second iteration of the Empire’s Ultimate Weapon, taking inspiration from the first LEGO Star Wars Death Star (10188) created in 2008. This second version of the planetary weapon – which has now been added to Brickset’s database as LEGO Star Wars The Death Star (75159) – is also believed to be the second D2C exclusive that will be released alongside the Winter Holiday Train.

Meaning to say, LEGO VIP members will be entitled for an early access on September 15, and will be eventually offered to the general public on October 1, 2016 – a good two months before the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, hit theaters this December.

According to Promo Bricks, 75159 will consist of 4,016 parts and will retail at 499.99 Euros, which is roughly equivalent to 565 USD, making it to the ranks of being another UCS version of the first LEGO Death Star. Here’s a rough Google translate on what Promo Bricks have to say:

The new Death Star may be assembled from 4,016 parts. By comparison, the final Death Star (10188) consisted of 3,803 parts and included 24 minifigures. Has also changed the sales price. So the new model in the LEGO Store will cost 499.99 euros, 80 euros more than its predecessor.

On a similar note, Promo Bricks also revealed what could be the most interesting part of The Death Star (75159). The site mentions that the upcoming Ultimate Collector Series will consist of the following minifigures:

  • Grand Moff Tarkin
  • Imperial Officer
  • Imperial Navy Officer
  • Imperial astromech
  • Chewbacca
  • C-3PO
  • R2-D2
  • Han Solo
  • Han Solo (disguise)
  • Luke Skywalker (disguise)
  • Luke Skywalker (final duel)
  • Luke Skywalker (Tatooine)
  • Princess Leia
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • Darth Vader
  • Death Star Gunner
  • Death Star Droid
  • Emperor’s Royal Guard
  • Emperor Palpatine
  • Stormtropper
  • Death Star Trooper

Noticeably, this set of minifigures does not differ significantly from that of the first LEGO Death Star UCS. However, Promo Bricks emphasized that LEGO’s designers did an excellent job of giving the original minifigs a revamp of some sorts.

Like the last model LEGO® has his new Death Star again donated 24 Minifigures, you can expect somehow even with the selling price. Here the designer in Billund certainly have again done a great job, because numerous figures have been revised to shine in a new outfit. My favorite is the blue Imperial astromech.

As I mentioned earlier, it may not take long before we hear any official words from the LEGO Group about the details of the LEGO Star Wars The Death Star (75159). As exciting as it may sound, it will be prudent to consider these things as tentative. What do you think of this next LEGO Star Wars UCS set? Do you think it will live up to its hype?
