In continuing with the exciting reveals at Day 2 of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, the top guys over at TT Games and Marvel Gaming led by Arthur Parsons (TT Games Head of Design), Philip Ring (TT Games Executive Producer), and Bill Rosemann (Executive Creator and Director at Marvel Games) led the discussions that saw the reveal of other awesome features tucked inside the sequel, LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.
Lauded for being the biggest and most ambitious open worlds project that TT Games ever embarked on, LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 features Chronopolis – the game’s hub world that allow players to access 18 different locations all based on the Marvel comic book storyline. According to Rosemann, there is a reason why they chose Kang the Conqueror to be the main villain and antagonist in the game, being able to warp time and space, and mesh them around his city of Chronopolis. Kang may not be that well known in other Marvel games or in the more recent Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in the comics, he is as formidable as any of the major villains in Marvel history. Players can access the different locations in the Chronopolis hub via in-game menus that works like a comic book page.
Other than the unique, open world places within Chronopolis, Parsons also revealed other superhero characters that will be available within the game. For the first time, Agent Venom and Spider Gwen now have their LEGO digital minifigure counterparts in LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2. Straight from the comics, these two characters are just two among the many characters that will be available in the game.
Lastly, players will have a blast battling each other in a free for all arena where up to 4 combatants can play head on under the Game Master’s watchful eye. The Battle Arena also features the Infinity Gauntlet where players can access any of the Infinity Stones that grants them temporary ability upgrades. Using these Infinity Stones is like using power ups that can significantly affect the outcome of any battle.
Here’s a gameplay demo that was shown live during this day’s WB Games presentation.
