When it comes to the recent state of LEGO videogames, the past few months have been rather give and take. There’s been a lot of noise over the end of LEGO Dimensions, but loyal fans of the brand who’re also gamers were quite pleased with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.
After a dry spell of LEGO gaming news outside of new DLC for LMSH2, we now have information, courtesy of Comicbook.com, that there’s the probability of a couple upcoming LEGO titles with licensed IPs coming up. One is reportedly a LEGO Incredibles 2 videogame, and the other featuring DC Villains.
The former is rather understandable if such a videogame is under development. LEGO has already teased that they’re releasing some LEGO Junior sets in time for the June 2018 premiere of The Incredibles 2. If the rumors are true, this is the first Pixar film to get the LEGO-game treatment.
Not much is known about the plot of the Incredibles 2 film, save that it starts off from the ending of the first and the main baddie is the Underminer. Interestingly, the plot may be a film expansion of the 2005 Incredibles videogame that also directly continues from the original.
Speaking of baddies, Warner Bros. Interactive is also said to be putting together a LEGO DC game title where the focus characters are the super-villains. This project is under the obvious-sounding working title of LEGO DC Villains, and will have players controlling Joker, Lex Luthor and their costumed crook contemporaries.
As always, all LEGO-themed videogames with WB Interactive Entertainment is developed by Traveller’s Tales, who’ve been masterful old hands in making wide-sprawling action- adventure games with LEGO minifigures traversing a LEGO environment. We at The Brick Show will be keeping our eyes and ears open for more word on these.
