Hot off of the trail of the latest trailer of the celebrated LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens, comes this 8-minute in-game footage of some of the best things to expect from this latest video game from Warner Bros Interactive. Thanks to IGN and Jamie Eden, Game Director for LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens, we now have our first look at some of the many enhancements that are included in the game. Watch this.
Starting with the opening scenes that lead to Poe’s daring stand against razing First Order Stormtroopers in Jakku, we get to see a little back story on how Finn got his Stormtrooper helmet ‘stained’. It’s a humorous way of toning down some of the darker side of the film. Didn’t see that one coming.

This first battle scene introduces some of the things that are new with LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens. It is interesting to see how enemy AIs can now build structures and equipment on their own, similar to that of the playable characters in the game. This adds a new dimension with regard to solving puzzles and thinking your way through difficult situations. In addition, gamers are now introduced to numerous multi-builds in any given scenario to solve a particular problem. Choosing any of these options will yield a different result – will you blast your way through, or will you extend diplomacy? The result is definitely up to the player. If you choose the former and you’re the type that is quick to the trigger, you will be delighted to know that you can now freely shift from melee to ranged attack at any point in the game. This is somehow new since previous LEGO Star Wars games will automatically default to a melee form of attack once you’re close enough to an enemy unit. Blaster battles are also visually intense, adding more realism and feel throughout the game.

Right after Poe’s capture, we are now introduced to the first space dogfight in the game where the Resistance’s top pilot is teamed up with the newly named Finn aboard a stolen TIE Fighter. These high-flying dogfights are as visually intense as those of the battles on the ground. Similar to earlier versions, players will also have to solve puzzles at some point in the level. You may also notice that the game’s heads-up display (HUD) also received a makeover giving it a next-gen kind of feeling.
These and a host of in-game improvements compliment the additional content that Warner Bros Interactive jam-packed together with the core game in LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens.
