Rumored [FAKE] LEGO Sets For 2017 Surfaced!

UPDATE: It was eventually discovered that the rumored sets were all fake, and was only a product of a cruel mind who unabashedly crushed the hopes and excitement of the LEGO community. None of the reported themes were true.

Comic-Con may all well be over, and LEGO actually did a good job in promoting their latest sets centered mostly on its line-up LEGO Superheroes such as those coming from the LEGO Batman Movie, Brickheadz, and a lot of new reveals coming out of the LEGO Dimensions portal. When we thought the surprises might well be over, LEGO seems to have been keeping some of it under wraps. Groove Bricks has recently revealed what LEGO has in store for us in 2017 through a series of leaks that was found through an alleged retailer’s catalogue, presumably from Italy. The images were shared via 4Chan, an imageboard website where users can anonymously post images. Like all leaks, we should always take these things with a pinch of salt until LEGO makes their official announcement. With that out of the way, let’s see what LEGO rumors have been circulating around, and how it will be like to see them actually offered by next year. Just to give a disclaimer though, we are not going to post those images here out of respect for LEGO, but a little bit of tinkering using Google will probably yield the results that you want. With that out of the way, let’s see what we can learn out of these rumors.

First off is a collection of new LEGO themed set that really caught us blindsided. It’s a no brainer to realize that LEGO and Disney have a strong partnership with regards to many of the former’s sets. From Disney Princess to Marvel Superheroes and Star Wars, LEGO and Disney has been able to consistently deliver great and exciting sets based on these beloved franchises. By May next year, another Disney/Pixar-themed set will receive the LEGO treatment just in time before Cars 3 hit theaters on June 16, 2017. Other than the Cars 3 logo that was prominently displayed, the image also revealed 6 placeholders for the presumed sets. It has been quite a while since we saw Lightning McQueen and the gang in their brick-built forms, with the release of the LEGO Cars sets sometime in 2011 and 2012. Having them back in the spotlight is very much welcomed by fans if in case this rumor is true.

Next is Disney collaboration, set to sail off also by next year with the LEGO Disney Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Similar to Disney’s Cars 3, this set comes with 4 placeholders that hinted at the possible set numbers that will be (presumably) assigned to them: 75990, 75991, 75992, and 75993. The film is slated for a theatrical release by  July 7, 2017 – just a month after Cars 3 will be released. So similarly, we might see a LEGO set release date sometime around May or June next year. Interestingly, the last time that LEGO released sets under the Pirates of the Caribbean theme was in 2011, the same year when LEGO Cars was first introduced.

LEGO also seems to be reviving its Sports-themed sets which made its debut sometime in the early part of 2000 which centered on sports such as Soccer, Basketball, and Ice Hockey. As the leaks suggest, we might now see LEGO Sports making a comeback with its initial offering of LEGO Sports Calcio Goalie Practice (61004). The 4Chan uploader only shared a cropped image of the LEGO Sports logo so again, we can look at it in any way we want. Nevertheless, it is interesting how LEGO is recently involved in promoting sports-themed sets, particularly with the LEGO Collectible Minifigures – DFB Series 71014 and LEGO Collectible Minifigures – Team GB. With more than a decade since the sports-themed sets were introduced, in case these rumors are true, then 2017 is a great year for a comeback.

Last but definitely not the least is something that AFOLs from the 90s will surely love if all these rumors will eventually come true. Still mighty and morphin’ even after more than two decades, LEGO will seem to pay tribute to the legendary Power Rangers by coming up with a whole new line of sets dedicated to these warriors. The cropped image that was posted again at 4Chan shows the logo of LEGO alongside that of the latest reboot from Lionsgate and Saban as revealed during last April’s CinemaCon.

Scheduled to hit the big screen on March 24, 2017, LEGO seems to be keen on the potential of the Power Rangers franchise as a great addition to its Superheroes line-up. The Power Rangers 2017 movie is a cool remake in itself with an all new costume that shows semblance to the armored suits worn by Marvel’s Iron Man.

Looking closely at this ‘leaked’ LEGO Power Rangers cropped image also reveals a portion of a placeholder dedicated to these presumed sets. There is no information as of to date regarding how many will LEGO introduce under this mighty morphin’ theme, and I hope that LEGO will come out soon with official info to share.

So what do you think with all these rumored LEGO sets? What are you most excited about, in case the rumors are true? Join in the discussion in the comments section below.
