9 LEGO Sets Named as Finalists for 2019 Toy of the Year Awards

2019 Toy of the Year Awards

The Toy Association has announced the finalists in the 2019 Toy of the Year Awards (TOTY) and nine (9) LEGO sets made it to the cut across the various categories of the prestigious award giving body. This is a big boost for LEGO, with almost double the LEGO sets that were now nominated this year as compared to those from last year. If you recall, LEGO was nominated for a total of five (5) categories in this year’s TOTY Awards which is like the Oscar awards of the toy industry. Out of these 5 nominees, LEGO managed to bag 3 awards which includes 2018’s Construction Toy of the Year, Specialty Toy of the Year, and Tech Toy of the Year.

This time around, LEGO was able to secure nine nominations for the 2019 Toy of the Year Awards for some of its most popular building sets recently released. These are:

2019 TOTY Specialty Toy of the Year Nominees

LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222)

LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle (71043)

2019 TOTY Vehicle of the Year Nominee

2019 TOTY Construction Toy of the Year Nominees

Other than these 9 LEGO sets nominated for the 2019 Toy of the Year Awards, the LEGO Jurassic World theme has also been nominated for the License of the Year Award. The LEGO theme itself has produced a huge following, alongside the successful LEGO Jurassic Park sets.

The 2019 Toy of the Year Awards gala will happen on February 15, 2019 just a few days before the launch of 2019’s New York Toy Fair. And from today until February next year, you can cast your vote at the TOTY website on which toy should bag the various Toy of the Year awards.

So what do you think brick fans? Are there any other recent LEGO sets which you feel should have been included in 2019’s TOTY finalists? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
