If you recall during the first quarter of this year, the LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage wrapped up with two officially recognized sets that we will eventually see on store shelves later next year. The LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith, alongside the LEGO Ideas Winnie the Pooh set, are expected to be out next year, on the word on brick street is that the former is expected to launch first.
According to The Brick Fan, rumor has it that the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith is the first between the pair of approved sets to be released anytime soon. I really don’t know how the LEGO Design Team or the LEGO Group for that matter, decides on which of the two fan-made sets gets to be first released. But from a financial perspective, it will do LEGO good if they don’t sell the two sets simultaneously.
The LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith is the brainchild of LEGO Ideas fan builder Clemens Fiedler (aka Namirob) and originally consisted of approximately 3,000 pieces. However, since word has it that the retail price of this next LEGO Ideas set is somewhat between $100 to $180, then we can expect this to be somewhat scaled-down. Historically, for example, the LEGO Ideas Pirates of the Barracuda Bay (21322) clocks in at 2,545 pieces and is already priced at $200. The only LEGO Ideas set that was priced exactly at $180 is the LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) which comes in at 2,321 pieces. So by way of comparison, we can assume that LEGO designers in charge of the project somehow cut corners in coming up with the Medieval Blacksmith’s final version.
Whatever is the case, I guess the arrival of this next LEGO Ideas set will surely be welcomed by AFOLs who are looking forward to that classic LEGO Castles vibe. Like the Pirates of Barracuda Bay, the Medieval Blacksmith is a callback to one of LEGO’s endearing themes so I’m sure that adult LEGO fans will certainly add this set to their brick wishlist.
And to top it off, the discovery of the upcoming gift-with-purchase (GWP) set, the LEGO Ideas Vintage Car (40448), may add credence to the rumor that we are about to see the final version of the next LEGO Ideas anytime soon. The Vintage Car, if you remember, was the Grand Prize Winner of a building contest launched by the LEGO Ideas platform last year. Same as with 2018’s Space Rocket Ride (40335) GWP, the Vintage Car is now the next promotional set that will probably be offered in 2021 together with the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith set.

So what do you think brick fans, when do you think the next LEGO Ideas set will be offered? Will it be the Medieval Blacksmith eventually? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
