Following the reveal of the LEGO CMF Series 20 (71027) at the New York Toy Fair, LEGO has also unveiled another set dedicated to the next cutest droid in the Skywalker Saga. The LEGO Star Wars D-O (75278) set comes in at 519 pieces and is expected to retail for $69.99, as reported by Zusammengebaut.

This brick rendering of D-0 follows a kind of UCS style similar to what LEGO did with the LEGO BB-8 (75187) set back in 2017. The LEGO Star Wars D-O (75278) set is slated to be released on April 19, a month ahead of the annual May the Fourth celebrations and promos.

Similar to its screen counterpart, this life-sized model of D-O (standing at almost 11 inches in height) emphasizes its monowheel form and its recognizable white and green color scheme. It should be noted that D-O’s wheel is fixed and does not rotate. It also comes with a base to keep it stable, its own UCS-style plaque and its own minifigure version similar to what you can find in LEGO Star Wars Rise of Skywalker sets such as the Resistance Y-wing Starfighter (75249) and Millennium Falcon (75257).

Similar to LEGO Star Wars UCS sets, this LEGO Star Wars D-O set is better built for display purposes rather than for its play features – which is very much limited to its head being able to turn from left to right, and tilted up and down. The antennas at the back of his head may also be adjusted to give it a wide range of non-verbal cues, giving D-O a sort of personality and range of emotions as seen in the film.

Andres from Zusammengebaut also posted a video about the LEGO Star Wars D-O as you can see below. Be sure to stay tuned here in our blogsite for more updates from the LEGO Booth at NYTF 2020.
