Check Out the Winners of the LEGO Ideas Build United! Contest

LEGO Ideas Build United!

Back in January, the LEGO Ideas platform launched the LEGO Ideas Build United! contest that challenges builders to come up with their most awesome builds to celebrate the legacy of the iconic Old Trafford and the subsequent release of the LEGO Creator Expert Old Trafford – Manchester United (10272) set.

LEGO Ideas Contest

The challenge is to recreate the most celebrated scenes of Manchester United – whether a historic goal, iconic badges, or even the player themselves – using LEGO bricks. Out of a total of 275 contest entries, three stood above the rest earning the thumbs up approval of the LEGO Ideas Review Team. Two Runner-Ups and a Grand Prize Winner were eventually selected. Let’s take a look at the winning entries in this LEGO Ideas Build United! contest and read on for what the judges have to say about them.

Runner-Up #1: Watching the Football Game by Hb3

LEGO Ideas Build United!

This build is an amazing display of forced perspective! When we first saw the model, we thought that it was a photoshop job in order to get the scene so nicely fit to the television. The pictures showing the model from a different angle show how clever the whole construction is. The details of the antenna on the TV, the brick-built remote, and the lines on the field all help to make this one amazing creation!

Runner-Up #2: The Bicycle 2-1 Winning Kick by Stevenhoward27

LEGO Ideas Build United!

Capturing human forms with LEGO bricks, let alone the human form in motion, is an incredibly difficult task. The builder does a wonderful job of recreating the movement and energy of this iconic moment in Manchester United history, a very hard task with LEGO bricks! We also love the use of multiple scales, with all of the spectators in the background really completing this iconic image.

Grand Prize Winner – United with Manchester by Bluestar13

We love all of the details in this model showing the surrounds of the original stadium. The designer has done an incredible job of capturing the plan, buildings, greenery, roads, trainlines, and river at such an incredibly small scale. That’s not even mentioning the fantastic nanoscale version of Old Trafford!

As always with other LEGO Ideas building contests, the prizes definitely does not disappoint. The Runner Up winners get to bring home an impressive LEGO loot consisting of the LEGO Creator Expert Bookshop (10270), London Bus (10258), and a LEGO Technic Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (42093); plus a $150 shopping spree at LEGO Shop@Home.

And as the Grand Prize Winner, Bluestar13 gets to bring home an exclusive Manchester United merchandise, a LEGO Creator Expert Old Trafford (10272), Bookshop (10270), and the LEGO modular commemorative set Assembly Square (10255).

Congratulations to the winners! Keep building!
