As 2021 was drawing to a close, the LEGO news community caught wind of a possible new videogame-related set. A European online retailer even listed it well in advance last December. The game material however, was a surprise. Who would’ve expected a LEGO build based on the PS4 title “Horizon Zero Dawn”? True, the set will depict one of the most iconic “creatures” in that videogame, and marketed to age 18+. But was it for real? The retail listing noted a May 2022 release, so from this present timeframe official info won’t be far off. We can stop wondering now.
The Brick Fan has it that LEGO.com has officially listed that “Horizon Zero Dawn” set. Rather, it’s named for the 2017 videogame’s sequel, “Horizon Forbidden West,” which will release on PlayStation 4-5 any day now. The games, set in the 31st Century, feature tribal humans while the wilderness teems with machine-animals. The set depicts one of the most impressive of these cyber-creatures, the giraffe-like Tallneck (76989). This organic-mechanical body is beautifully rendered in LEGO pieces. “HZD/HFW” protagonist Aloy also features in minifigure form, accompanied by a smaller machine-animal, the Watcher.
Horizon Forbidden West – Tallneck (76989) will launch May 1. We can’t help but wonder if this will start a new LEGO Horizon Forbidden West line. Check out the product details:
