The second trailer of MCU’s initial Phase 5 film has been released with plenty of details that hint at the challenges awaiting our quantum heroes. We’re still over a month from its theatrical release, and LEGO seems to be holding the lid pretty tight on its upcoming LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania tie-in sets. In case you missed it, here’s the film’s most recent trailer:
There’s plenty to unpack in this latest trailer, with Marvel Studios providing us with more details on the impending struggle between Kang and Scott Lang’s Ant-Man, and the motivation behind their actions that will propel the MCU further into its Multiversal Saga. We also get a better look at some of the film’s main characters and potential LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania minifigures that may go along with it. LEGO usually reveals any of its movie tie-ins a month or two before the film’s release. But Phase 5’s debut film might prove to be an exception, considering how massive and profound Quantumania will be for the future of the MCU. So we’re probably looking at a release date of its official LEGO set sometime toward the end of this month.
Historically, the last two previous Ant-Man films each got one LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set. But with last year’s MCU films receiving 2-3 LEGO tie-in sets, and considering that Quantumania is the final solo act of our tiny Avenger, then it’s not a longshot to think that we might receive more than 1 LEGO set for this latest MCU offering.
While waiting for its official press release, here’s my take on some of the LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania minifigures that LEGO may reveal anytime soon.
Scott and Cassie Lang, and Hope Van Dyne

This is a no-brainer and the reason why I believe that there could be more than one LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set that will be revealed soon. I’m quite positive that Scott, Cassie, and Hope’s minifigures will be included in the roster, but they will not be included in one set. It has been LEGO’s strategy with licensed minifigure characters (especially in the case of Marvel and DC) to distribute them across sets to maximize the sales of the theme. I also expect to see a new design for Ant-Man and Wasp, while collectors will undoubtedly look forward to that purple minifigure iteration of Cassie.
Kang

And no LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set will be complete without villainous Kang the Conqueror. Marvel Studios did an excellent job of rendering Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror on the big screen. It is also fantastic to have our first minifigure version of him with and without his iconic helmet and glowing blue face shield.
MODOK

MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) has been around in LEGO form since 2014 with Avengers: Hulk Smash (76018) and Avengers Helicarrier (76153). And it will be great to see a third minifigure version of this superpowered cybernetic bighead. I definitely prefer the single-piece version of his minifigure, as seen in Avengers: Hulk Smash, rather than a printed half-circular wall element for his face. The only question is if LEGO will also include a battle-ready version of him, complete with the gold armor we saw from the trailer.
Quantum Foot Soldiers

I strongly feel that Kang’s henchmen will also get the minifigure treatment and be included in an official LEGO set. In case you noticed, these faceless foot soldiers were also placed front and center in the newest poster of the film. Unlike MCU’s previous gnarly-looking henchmen (such as the Chitauri), these quantum foot soldiers are more reminiscent of how Mysterio’s minifigure looks like.
I bet these upcoming LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania sets will feature Kang’s time-ship and another one that might focus on that scene where MODOK is included. I guess we have to wait for the next couple of weeks until we finally see what LEGO has in the works.
