Nope, this is not part of any advanced April Fool’s conspiracy. LEGO has just added another set to its Helmet Collection, and this time, it pays tribute to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Because starting today, you can pre-order your very own LEGO Marvel Star-Lord’s Helmet (76251) over at LEGO’s online shopping portal.

It’s nice to see another Marvel character given the LEGO Helmet treatment. And this time around, Peter Quill’s Star-Lord joins the ranks of Iron Man, Venom, and Carnage to have this particular helmet motif. But what makes this most recent offering stand out is that it also doubles as a pencil pot. I appreciate how LEGO designers opted to include this functionality since it’s not just a centerpiece display but also serves a particular purpose. I will certainly like to have this on my desk.

The LEGO Marvel Star-Lord’s Helmet (76251) comes at 602 pieces and retails for $79.99. You can pre-order this now at LEGO.com, with a release date of April 1st. Check out the rest of its product details, and if you want, you can also use our affiliate link below to pre-order this set.

What LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Minifigures Do You Want to See?

The second trailer of MCU’s initial Phase 5 film has been released with plenty of details that hint at the challenges awaiting our quantum heroes.  We’re still over a month from its theatrical release, and LEGO seems to be holding the lid pretty tight on its upcoming LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania tie-in sets. In case you missed it, here’s the film’s most recent trailer:

There’s plenty to unpack in this latest trailer, with Marvel Studios providing us with more details on the impending struggle between Kang and Scott Lang’s Ant-Man, and the motivation behind their actions that will propel the MCU further into its Multiversal Saga. We also get a better look at some of the film’s main characters and potential LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania minifigures that may go along with it. LEGO usually reveals any of its movie tie-ins a month or two before the film’s release. But Phase 5’s debut film might prove to be an exception, considering how massive and profound Quantumania will be for the future of the MCU. So we’re probably looking at a release date of its official LEGO set sometime toward the end of this month.

Historically, the last two previous Ant-Man films each got one LEGO Marvel Super Heroes set. But with last year’s MCU films receiving 2-3 LEGO tie-in sets, and considering that Quantumania is the final solo act of our tiny Avenger, then it’s not a longshot to think that we might receive more than 1 LEGO set for this latest MCU offering.

While waiting for its official press release, here’s my take on some of the LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania minifigures that LEGO may reveal anytime soon.

Scott and Cassie Lang, and Hope Van Dyne
lego quantumania 05

This is a no-brainer and the reason why I believe that there could be more than one LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set that will be revealed soon. I’m quite positive that Scott, Cassie, and Hope’s minifigures will be included in the roster, but they will not be included in one set. It has been LEGO’s strategy with licensed minifigure characters (especially in the case of Marvel and DC) to distribute them across sets to maximize the sales of the theme. I also expect to see a new design for Ant-Man and Wasp, while collectors will undoubtedly look forward to that purple minifigure iteration of Cassie.

Kang
lego quantumania 04

lego quantumania

And no LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania set will be complete without villainous Kang the Conqueror. Marvel Studios did an excellent job of rendering Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror on the big screen. It is also fantastic to have our first minifigure version of him with and without his iconic helmet and glowing blue face shield.

MODOK
lego quantumania 03

MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) has been around in LEGO form since 2014 with Avengers: Hulk Smash (76018) and Avengers Helicarrier (76153). And it will be great to see a third minifigure version of this superpowered cybernetic bighead. I definitely prefer the single-piece version of his minifigure, as seen in Avengers: Hulk Smash, rather than a printed half-circular wall element for his face. The only question is if LEGO will also include a battle-ready version of him, complete with the gold armor we saw from the trailer.

Quantum Foot Soldiers

poster quantumania

lego quantumania 07
Mysterio’s minifigure version, as seen in LEGO Marvel Superheroes Spider-Man vs Mysterio’s Drone Attack (76184) from 2021.

I strongly feel that Kang’s henchmen will also get the minifigure treatment and be included in an official LEGO set. In case you noticed, these faceless foot soldiers were also placed front and center in the newest poster of the film. Unlike MCU’s previous gnarly-looking henchmen (such as the Chitauri), these quantum foot soldiers are more reminiscent of how Mysterio’s minifigure looks like.

I bet these upcoming LEGO Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania sets will feature Kang’s time-ship and another one that might focus on that scene where MODOK is included. I guess we have to wait for the next couple of weeks until we finally see what LEGO has in the works.

Marvel Studios’ “What If…?” Official Trailer Now Up

Earlier today, Marvel Entertainment has released its official trailer for the upcoming animated series “What If…?” slated to stream over at Disney+ next month. In case you missed it, here’s a look at the 2-minute video.

The trailer begins with a very familiar scene from MCU’s initial film, Iron Man, where Tony Stark is faced with the mortal danger caused by his own company’s manufactured weapons. Then out of nowhere, Killmonger appears single-handedly throwing the rogue rocket out of the way and presumably making friends with the future Iron Man.

True to its title, the What If…? series explores the seemingly infinite possibilities of a Marvel cinematic multiverse, told from the perspective of the enigmatic Uatu the Watcher. And for the first time since the release of other MCU and Disney+ series such as WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki, LEGO has revealed its first sets inspired directly by an MCU Disney+ series. We can expect a couple of LEGO Marvel tie-in sets in the likes of the LEGO Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper (76201) which is now available for pre-order over at LEGO Shop@Home. And the LEGO Marvel Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man (76194), slated to be released in August. On top of these sets, we can also expect the arrival of a new LEGO Marvel CMF Series directly inspired by this wave of Disney+ shows.  These sets are both scheduled to be released on August 1, with the LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures (71031) expected to be officially revealed.

Stay tuned for more updates, and while waiting, let’s continue to enjoy the latest Loki series over at Disney+.

LEGO Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper (76201) First Images

LEGO Malaysia’s online shopping portal has just revealed our next MCU-inspired LEGO set. Based on the upcoming “What If…?” animated series over at Disney+, the LEGO Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper (76201) is expected sometime in August. This is the second set based on the upcoming series, the first being Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man (76194) set currently available at LEGO Shop@Home in the US.

LEGO Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper

The set clocks in at 343 pieces and will retail for $29.99 once it is available in stores and online. It features a mech build similar to that of the Iron Monger, given a green color scheme. The mech itself is piloted by an alternate version of Steve Rogers and features Captain Carter (presumably a multiverse version of Peggy Carter) and Hydra big boss the Red Skull.

Read on for the set’s official product description below.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71031) Series Arriving in September

Now that almost all of LEGO’s regional online product catalogs are now up via LEGO servers, including the reuploaded Japanese LEGO catalog that gave us a peek at this year’s series of LEGO Friends, Marvel, and City Advent Calendars, more information has been coming out from other regional catalogs as well. And thanks to the Taiwanese version of this online catalog, we now have confirmation on when the LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71031) series will be out.

00 LEGO Taiwan 2HY2021

The Taiwanese online LEGO catalog has included its usual dedicated page for the LEGO CMF series, particularly for the LEGO Looney Tunes CMF (71030). And at the corner of the page is an announcement that the next wave of collectible minifigures is slated to arrive in September 1st.

59 LEGO Taiwan 2HY2021 2

Now, to be frank, it has been customary for LEGO for the past years to release its final wave of CMF during September, similar to what it did with last year’s LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028). Furthermore, we’ve seen a sort of trend with regards to LEGO’s CMF releases – with one unique CMF series that follows its traditional series (like the recent Series 21 71029), and two licensed ones from last year in the form of the LEGO Harry Potter CMF Series 2 (71028), and LEGO DC Super Heroes CMF (71026). Word on brick street is that this next series will most probably be the much-awaited LEGO Marvel Super Heroes CMF (71031), which will be based on Disney+ characters from its latest MCU TV series (Wandavision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, and What If…?)

Again, this is just a rumor until such time that LEGO officially reveals them. So it will be wise to consider this speculation with a grain of salt. However, with the recent confirmation of its release in September, we can also expect that we will be hearing more about the LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71031) series in the coming weeks. Thanks to Jay’s Brick Blog for the heads-up.

LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) First Images Released!

It’s confirmed – MCU’s spin-off film Black Widow now officially gets the LEGO treatment. Yahoo! has just revealed the LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) featuring what seems to be one of the key scenes that were shown early on its official teaser trailer. This latest MCU-inspired LEGO set is one of the many Black Widow tie-in merchandises that will roll-in the next months leading to the film’s release in May.

Black Widow's Helicopter Chase (76162)

The LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) set comes in at 271 pieces and features a newer minifig version of Black Widow, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster. Perhaps what is most interesting about this minifigure lineup is the character of Taskmaster. He (or she?) comes with a minifig accessory that features a stealth slash sword that also acts as a shield.

crop taskmaster
The Taskmaster as seen in Disney Marvel’s Black Widow.

Black Widow's Helicopter Chase (76162)

As Yahoo reports, the Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) will have an early release in Target stores starting March 1, and at Disney Parks in April. It is yet to be seen if this is an exclusive release limited only to these stores and locations, but my best guess is that it will arrive later on at LEGO Shop@Home. We’re not sure also if this is the only set to be offered under this subtheme like what LEGO did with the Captain Marvel and Skrull Attack (76127). As a matter of fact, there’s seems to be no discernable formula on which particular film will get a LEGO tie-in set or two, so we just have to wait and see until Black Widow arrives on the big screen.

Here’s what Yahoo has to say about the Black Widow Helicopter Chase (76162).

Get airborne with a 271-piece Lego set recreating what’s sure to be one of the most explosive action set-pieces in Black Widow. Natasha and Yelena take the fight to Taskmaster aboard the villain’s personal chopper, tricked out with four stud shooters and twin rifles with deadly aim.
Available for $29.99 at Target on March 1 and at Disney Parks in April.

So what do you think about this new LEGO set? How much do you think this  LEGO set will be movie-accurate? Let us know in the comments below.

2019 Disney 23 Expo Kicked Off With New MCU Reveals

This weekend is a great day for Disney and Marvel fan attendees at the annual Disney 23 expo. Other than surprising reveals from the galaxy far, far away, MCU top brass Kevin Feige also offered another glimpse on what’s in store in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and what it hopefully means to future LEGO Marvel sets. A lot has been revealed about the future of MCU during last month’s SDCC 2019, with more announcements made during the weekend’s 2019 Disney 23 Expo.

First off, we have the entire main cast of the Eternals announced on stage and the roles that each of them will play.  The film is slated to be released in theaters in November next year, and we expect to see a couple of LEGO sets centered on this film.

MCU is also set to offer another prequel based on the character of Natasha Romanoff’s Black Widow. Played by Scarlett Johansson, the Black Widow spin-off is set to be released earlier on May 2020. New footage was shown to D23 attendees regarding this first MCU Phase 4 film and I can’t wait to see it officially released online.

Black Panther 2 was also mentioned during the 2019 Disney 23 Expo, but details about the story behind this sequel from Wakanda are still under wraps. It is understandable considering the film is still set to be released 3 years from now in May 2022.

The highlight of the Marvel D23 presentation focused mainly on the list of shows that will be included in the new Disney+ streaming service. As a counterpart to some of the most popular streaming services out there, Disney+ will also include a bunch of MCU-inspired series that has a direct tie-up with all 23 previously released MCU films. Some of these were born out of the events of  Endgame, while some are an entirely new series to watch out for. We can expect a series entirely dedicated to Jessica Walker’s She-Hulk, millionaire turned mercenary Moon Knight, and Kamala Khan’s shape-shifting persona, Ms. Marvel. There are also familiar MCU characters that will have their screen time in the MCU streaming service as well: we have WandaVision where we see Vision surviving somehow the catastrophic events of Infinity War and Endgame; The Falcon and the Winter Soldier where actors Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprise their roles  in a world without Steve Roger’s Captain America; and Loki which features the events that follow after the alter version of the Norse god of mischief managed to steal the Space Stone during a failed time heist in Endgame. Lastly, MCU is also excited to offer its first animated series entitled What If…? based on the Marvel comic book series of the same title. It explores the myriad of possibilities that may happen if a particular story element in the MCU is changed or altered.

Moving forward, MCU’s Phase 4 is set to carve its own path and headed towards an exciting new territory that fans are eagerly looking forward to. With LEGO and Disney’s partnership still going strong, we can also expect a lot of interesting LEGO Marvel sets in the works. It is not far-fetch to consider a new subtheme of sorts for LEGO Marvel Superheroes focusing on the Disney+ series. I see the What If…? animated series as having a great source of potential for new and out-of-the-box ideas for future LEGO sets. We just have to wait and see a couple of years from now once the new streaming service from the House of Mouse finally kicks off.
