Thanos Demands A LEGO Brick-Built Statue At SDCC 2018

While it bears repeating, you’ve probably read or heard it enough times so we’ll just say it plainly. The 2018 San Diego Comic Con is starting this Thursday and LEGO is a big part of it. We already know this from their preview of a special brick-built sculpture of LEGO Ultrakatty from The LEGO Movie 2 that will be on display there, but it’s not the only display exhibit there. If Ultrakatty is a salute to LEGO’s own original properties, then this other brick-built statue is one for a major licensed franchise, that of Marvel. SDCC attendees will definitely recognize him if they’ve watched Avengers: Infinity War this last May. It’s the Mad Titan, Thanos.

As you can see in the picture, it’s an awesomely-accurate rendition of the Bigger-Scope Villain that lurked behind the scenes of the MCU before his big outing in Infinity War. Some 91,350 LEGO pieces were assembled to create this awe-inspiring 8-foot-6 tall 450-pound heavy figure.

Just looking at LEGO Thanos raising his Infinity Gauntlet-clad left hand, you can practically feel the tension felt by audiences months ago when he did the horrifically epic finger-snap that killed off many characters in Infinity War and turned the happy ending of Ant-Man and the Wasp into a tragedy.

And what’s more – LEGO-wise – Thanos and Ultrakatty may be only the beginning when it comes to brick-built statues at the SDCC. There could be more, and they might be revealed this Wednesday evening when the Con opens their Preview Night.
