Last month, LEGO has launched its new augmented reality inspired theme in the form of LEGO Vidiyo sets. From what we learned so far from The LEGO Group’s official press release, this latest theme fuses LEGO’s top-notch AR-tech with music offered by Universal Music Group, allowing LEGO fans to create their own unique music using special LEGO BeatBits tiles and a proprietary app.

This time around, thanks to LEGO-loving mom @marleylego, she managed to bag some of these sets and shared her discoveries over on Instagram. She spotted these LEGO Vidiyo sets placed on an early sale at a Meijer store considering that they are still expected to be released on March 1st.
Thanks to this early discovery, we can now confirm how three of these LEGO Vidiyo sets will be like. As I’ve mentioned before in my earlier report, it seems that LEGO intends this theme to consist of an entirely new collection of minifigure characters that can easily pass as a CMF series. Based on the media assets that LEGO has shared, and now confirmed by @marleylego, these LEGO Vidiyo sets will have their own unique roster of interesting minifig characters.

Aside from its appealing aesthetics, there are also plenty of play features that go along with these LEGO Vidiyo Beatbox sets. The pretty cool LEGO Vidiyo minifigure characters also come with their own set of Beatbits printed tiles. These decorative 2×2 tiles somewhat function similarly to the scannable Nexo shield pieces that came with previous LEGO Nexo Knights sets, offering a ton of special audio-visual effects when used together with the LEGO Vidiyo app. Another thing worth noticing is that the LEGO Vidiyo Beatbox sets come with their own stage and minifigure case. I like what LEGO did here by adding a collectible case that doubles as a carrier designed as a headset.

I hope to see more of these LEGO Vidiyo minifigure characters anytime soon as we approach its launch date on March 1st. I’ll give you updates once LEGO Shop@Home uploads more info. Special thanks also to Promobricks for the tip.
