It’s been a buzz early this year in toy fairs where LEGO has been present in, that news of an upcoming LEGO DC Super Heroes Set will be a vehicle driven by the new LEGO Power Functions 2.0 system featured in none other than the Dark Knight’s very own Batmobile.
After having to make do with blurred-out teaser images of the LEGO DCSH App-Controlled Batmobile (76112), the wait is over as LEGO finally released some clear official images of how the set’s going to look. All told, it makes the Tumbler from Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy look sleek in comparison.
Okay, this App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) might appear more like a Bat-APC, but the design’s probably to better integrate the mechanics that will be driven by Power Functions 2.0. This is also the proving ground for having Power Functions features being activated and operated via Bluetooth through an included smartphone app.
A retail price tag of $160 might be a bit too steep for some collectors, but considering that this is something of a first then I guess it can be quite reasonable. The LEGO DC Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) is made up of 321 pieces, plus a Batman minifigure with several accessories, two Power Functions motors and a battery hub. The set comes out in August.
