A close look at the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney 100 (71038) series shows the many new LEGO pieces introduced in these minifigures. At the top of my list is Stitch’s new double-arm mold. I love how LEGO created a new face print for my favorite blue alien.  Ernesto de la Cruz’s black-and-white color scheme and the impressive, intricate design on his costume, guitar, and Mexican sombrero truly stand out.

Each CMF blind bag is expected to retail for $5 across all LEGO brand stores and LEGO.com beginning May 1, 2023. Which is at the top of your list in this latest LEGO CMF Disney series? Let us know in the comments below.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney 100 Officially Revealed!

After an image of the package insert of the latest LEGO CMF series went viral last week, LEGO has finally let the cat out of the bag and has officially unveiled the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney 100 (71038). This highly-anticipated CMF series is slated to be released on May 1, 2023, and is currently listed at LEGO.com

71038 19

This latest series consists of 18 iconic Disney characters that appeal to Disney fans of all ages, beginning with one of the very first animated characters introduced by Walt Disney and his team of animators back in 1927. It’s not an easy feat for LEGO and Disney to select which character will make it to the cut of this LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney 100 series, but I’m glad how the final lineup turned out eventually.

Check out the details and product description of this latest CMF series, which will retail for $5 online and in-store.

Here’s a Sneak Peak at the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 3 (71038)

Fellow LEGO fan site and insider Promobricks have just gotten a hold of what seems to be an early copy of the package insert (checklist) of the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigure Series 3 (71038). If you remember earlier this January, it was reported that this latest CMF series will include not just 12, but 18 new Disney characters given the LEGO minifigure treatment.

And just in time with Disney’s 100th-year celebration, this upcoming CMF craze will launch this May, alongside other LEGO Disney sets that mark the occasion. Thanks to Promobricks, we can now have an early look at what we can expect from this series. Take a look at the series’ package insert below.

Right off the bat, this newer version of Stitch is a must-have for me, together with that Magician Mickey from Fantasia. In case you need to know, here are the names of these new LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 3 characters.

Top Row (from left to right)
  • Oswald the Funny Rabbit with new head mold, dual-molded legs and printed 1×2 tile (predecessor to 1927 Mickey Mouse)
  • Pinocchio with new head mold and printed fishbowl (Pinocchio, 1940)
  • Jiminy Cricket with Parasol (Pinocchio, 1940)
  • Magician Mickey with new head mold, with bucket and mop (Fantasia, 1940)
  • Princess Tiana with 2×3 printed tile, crown, and frog (The Princess and the Frog, 2009)
  • Dr. Facilier with printed 1×2 tile and walking stick (The Princess and the Frog, 2009)
Middle Row (from left to right)
  • Queen of Hearts with wide skirt, crown, and scepter of hearts (Alice in Wonderland, 1951)
  • Princess Aurora with crown and owl (The Sleeping Beauty, 1959)
  • Mulan with sword and the cricket, Cri-Kee printed on what seems to be a 1×1 brick (Mulan, 1998)
  • Ernesto de la Cruz with guitar (Coco, 2017)
  • Miguel with guitar and dog Dante (Coco, 2017)
  • Pocahontas with 1×1 round tile with compass print and leaves (Pocahontas, 1995)
Bottom Row (from left to right)

As pointed out by Promobricks, it’s interesting to note the absence of an official Snow White minifigure in this series given that we already have an Evil Queen already. I really wish LEGO could have included the two in this upcoming CMF series since a proper LEGO Snow White minifigure is been a long time coming.

The LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigure Series 3 (71038) is expected to be launched in May of this year, so we can expect its marketing and promotions anytime soon this March. Special thanks once again to Promobricks for sharing this update.

From the Rumor Mill: LEGO 100 Years of Disney Collectible Minifigures (71038) May Include 18 Characters

Disney will mark its 100th anniversary this 2023 and LEGO is sharing in the festivities by launching several LEGO Disney tie-in sets. And this included the much-anticipated LEGO 100 Years of Disney Collectible Minifigures (71038).

While the recently released LEGO CMF Series 24 (71037) still enjoys a lot of attention, LEGO fans and completionists are now setting their eyes on the next series expected to be released in May. And rumors have it that 18 unforgettable Disney characters will grace the upcoming LEGO 100 Years of Disney Collectible Minifigures. According to the Back 2 Brick podcast as reported by Promobricks, this upcoming series will feature the following Disney characters in their minifigure versions.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (from classic Disney shorts)

Baymax with red hoverboard (from Big Hero Six, 2014)

Evil Queen with Magic Mirror (from Snow White, 1937)

This is a very impressive list if I may say since it’s not an easy feat to select which characters will get the LEGO minifigure treatment. Though I was hoping as well to see an official Snow White minifigure thrown in in this series, considering that LEGO has already released the classic Disney Princess’ Duplo and minidoll iterations.

The four-armed Stitch is number 1 on my list being a fan of Experiment 626 myself. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is probably next considering the influence of the iconic animated character on Disney’s later characters.

So what do you think of this rumored LEGO 100 Years of Disney Collectible Minifigures? Do you think there are other characters that should have been included? Let me know in the comments below.

LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 24 6 Pack (66733) Arriving Soon!

LEGO.com has been updated once more to now include another tantalizing deal for LEGO CMF collectors. After the confirmation of Series 24’s (71037) release date on January 1, 2023, it is great to hear that LEGO will once more offer a minifigure pack in the likes of the LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 24 6 Pack (66733).

This latest offering is also similar to what LEGO did with this year’s LEGO CMF The Muppets (71033) when, for the first time ever, it bundled its collectible minifigures into 6-pack boxes. It’s great to see that LEGO seems to be intentional in offering these kinds of bundles moving forward. It’s a cost-effective way of ensuring that you have six characters in your collection right off the bat. I’m not sure though if the blind bags contained in each box have duplicates, or if they consist of entirely different, randomly selected minifigs. In case you grab one, do let us know in the comments below.

In the meantime, we need to wait a couple of weeks more before we can see for ourselves. The LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 24 6 Pack (66733) is scheduled to be available online and in stores starting January 1, 2023, and is expected to retail for $29.94.

Early Look at LEGO Build-a-Minifigure 2023 Characters

The LEGOLAND Japan Twitter Account gives us an early look at 13 new LEGO Build-a-Minifigure 2023 characters scheduled (or BAM for short) to be available sometime in the first quarter of the next year. As most of you are aware, this unique selection of minifigures is quite different from what LEGO usually offers with its LEGO Collectible Minifigures or CMF. LEGO BAM characters are in-store exclusives and are offered 4 times a year in LEGO brand stores as a strategy to attract more customers.

And thanks to an early reveal by LEGOLAND Japan, we can now see what’s in store in this Q1 offering. Take a look.

I have to say that this LEGO Build-a-Minifigure 2023 series is a pretty impressive collection – with LEGO throwing in plenty of rare accessories, exclusive parts, and even recolored ones. I’m happy to see that there are plenty of costumed minifigures, some of which whose accessories are included in prior CMF series. We have a ship costume, for example, a redesigned crayon costume, a recolored brick suit guy, and even a new strawberry shortcake costume as well. The Panda Suit guy and the blue rabbit accessories also hint that these are designed with the Chinese New Year in mind, with 2023 being the Year of the Rabbit.

There’s no word yet on when they will be exactly available, but our best guess is next month as well, along side LEGO’s January 2023 releases. Whatever is the case, be sure to check with your local LEGO Stores for its upcoming release schedule.

Special thanks to Jay’s Brick Blog for the heads up.

Subtle Design Change in LEGO Marvel Black Panther Key Chain (854189)

MCU fans were saddened when actor Chadwick Boseman, start of “Black Panther”, died from cancer complications in 2020. It was a shock given that he kept his condition secret while starring in the film. And that doesn’t even include “Captain America: Civil War” plus “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Endgame”. The planned sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, needed significant retooling in the wake of Boseman’s passing. It’s due to premiere next month, and with it are the expected merchandise tie-ins including from LEGO. One notable piece of merch is a minifigure keychain portraying the Black Panther. Close observation reveals some changes in this minifig’s design compared to previous LEGO Marvel versions.

As Brick Fanatics tells it, the upcoming LEGO Marvel Black Panther Key Chain (854189) has a seeming design alteration. All minifigs of King T’Challa of Wakanda have a masked head topped off with cat-like ears, In the previous versions the ears were swept back. One might see this in Black Panther Mech Armor (76204) and Shuri’s Lab (76212). The keychain minifigure however has the cat ears pointing forward. In fact, the ears might be mistaken for horns, particularly those worn by LEGO Daredevil. He’s one of the minifigures in the Daily Bugle (76178) last 2021.

Black Panther Key Chain (8514189)

Age 6+ | $5.99 | Coming October 1

Was this an assembly mistake or a deliberate choice? The former feels like a possibility. After all, both Black Panther Key Chain (854189) and Shuri’s Lab (76212) are coming October 1. They’re tying into the November release of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” after all. The discrepancy of the BP costume makes for a curious puzzle. It’s like the question regarding the identity of the new wearer of the suit in the film. Hopefully we’ll get some explanation for this mystery.

LEGO.com US Opens “Minifigure Factory” Beta

Nine decades of LEGO history on, one spinoff element of the brand’s become as integral as the plastic bricks themselves. It’s the minifigures, quite obviously. Evolution of the LEGO building system made the originally-decorative human shapes into figures with real character. Why else would LEGO minifigs become collectible as-is without needing to be tied to a set? Still, for all their variety, some LEGO fans might desire more uniqueness in the minifigs they get. For them, LEGO introduced services for creating fully-custom LEGO minifigs. But only selected LEGOLAND parks and LEGO Stores had them. But now, LEGO’s making the minifig-making possibility an online experience stateside.

Brick Fanatics has it that LEGO.com US has officially launched its Minifigure Factory page. As already stated, this now-online service allows customers to create personalized minifigures by choosing from a pool of option parts. Going even further, the design potential extends to customized text on the minifigure’s body, along with individual color choices. Where before, custom minifigs had to be done on-site at limited venues, the LEGO.com service reaches more people. But at present LEGO Minifigure Factory is on its beta phase, meaning some restrictions and limitations are in place.

First, orders are one custom minifigure per household only ($11.99). Second, the Minifigure Factory page is only active in certain locations. Third, it only ships items stateside. Non-US visitors to LEGO.com there might be able to access, but can only give US shipping address destinations. Fourth, the design choices are limited at this point. Hopefully the beta test will be successful and LEGO Minifigure Factory can launch for real soon.
