Are We Going to Have Another LEGO Green Lantern Minifigure Anytime Soon?

This piece of news may come as a welcome surprise for all minifig collectors out there. We seem to have confirmation that one of DC’s most iconic superheroes will have another minifigure added to his very, very limited roster. In an exclusive Dorling Kindersley (DK) offering, the publishing giant is reported to release another Build Your Own Adventure Book that includes the usual LEGO set bundle. However, there is nothing usual about this set since it is slated to offer another Green Lantern minifigure, this time, of the courageous John Stewart. The DK LEGO Comics Super Heroes: Build Your Own Adventure Book comes with a set that bears a close resemblance to the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Green Lantern vs. Sinestro (76025) set. However, instead of the Hal Jordan version of the Green Lantern, the set that comes with this Build Your Own Adventure Book features a fellow lantern from Earth, John Stewart.

The Green Lantern is probably one of the most underrepresented DC Superhero as far as being included in an official LEGO set is concerned. We only get to see him in the abovementioned Green Lantern vs. Sinestro set, and as an exclusive minifigure memento from 2011’s Comic Cons in San Diego and New York. Information about this book is a bit scant at this point, save for its expected release date of August 1 and retail price of $16.50 as posted on Amazon. Even the description of the book doesn’t give any specifics about this set.

LEGO Ninjago Movie Books Revealed – More Details on our Ninjas, Garmadon, and a Stash of Cool Sets.

Amazon UK has recently posted several books dedicated to the upcoming LEGO Ninjago Movie. This collection of books (a sticker collection, and two readers) reveals interesting, high-resolution details on how we can expect the minifigures may look like, together with some of the mechs and vehicles that we want to see as an actual LNM set. I am not really an over-the-top Ninjago fan, but seeing the details on these LNM characters and vehicle designs, makes me more excited to see the actual sets.

Other than the exquisitely detailed minifigures of our young Ninjas, what I find equally impressive are the host of Garmadon’s marine-costumed henchmen. Aptly named to strike terror in the hearts of men (or minifigs), Garmadon’s Shark Army features several baddies donned in various sea creature outfits – a hammerhead, great white, puffer fish, octopus, and a jelly fish-like bubble head gear – all armed with melee and long range weapons such as fish nunchuks, starfish shurikens and fish launchers (hate to be on the way of those smelly weapons).

Their vehicles are awesome in themselves, especially Garmadon’s dark and menacing mech.

What I appreciate most about the LEGO Ninjago Movie are the highly detailed sets that were featured in its first official trailer. Though these sets look great on film and is most likely to be trimmed down a bit once offered to the general public as an actual LNM set, such down-scaling does not significantly reduce the impressive details on them. Two of these were partially revealed during LEGO Rebrick’s latest contest: the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612) and the Kai’s Fire Mech (70615), and this time we get to see another yet to be named tank-like battle vehicle which you can see below.

As we noted before, each of our young heroes also gets a makeover, with new costumes and hairpieces that complements their progress as a ninja and their coming of age.

These LEGO Ninjago Movie DK books are expected to hit store shelves in the UK on September, and August in the US. The LEGO Ninjago Movie will swing into action in theaters on September 22.

New and Exclusive Wonder Woman Minifigure Announced as a Freebie With DK’s LEGO DC Comics Superheroes: The Awesome Guide.

British publishing house Dorling Kindersley (DK) has announced its latest LEGO themed book LEGO DC Comics Superheroes: The Awesome Guide. Similar to previous LEGO books from the widely circulated publisher, this edition will be offered together with an exclusive minifigure that you can’t find anywhere else. According to a post shared by one of the followers of The Brick Fan, the book will include a version of Wonder Woman as she is expected to be seen, or how she will look like in DC Universe’s post-Convergence of New 52. Though the promotional ad below mentions succinctly that the exclusive minifig bundled with the book is that of the Amazon princess, we need to squint our eyes a little bit to see the actual minifig embedded on the cover of the book.

LEGO Superheroes DK

As mentioned, the minifigure dons the look of the newest version of Wonder Woman as she will be revealed in DC comics this June. The new Wonder Woman minifigure has red tops and boots, with blue sleeves and pants as she is rendered in the comics below.

This is a breath of fresh air so to speak, from the various Batman minifigs bundled with previous LEGO themed books (take Tartan Batman and Buccaneer Batman for example). I personally like this minifigure version of Wonder Woman because of how DC rebooted her character and looks. I guess it is a more fitting iteration of Diana to keep up with the times. The LEGO DC Comics Superheroes: The Awesome Guide will retail at $12.74 and is scheduled for release on May 2, and you may pre-order a copy via Amazon. So what do you think brick fans? Will you pick-up a copy of this newest DK book and have the new Wonder Woman minifig added to your collection?

Several LEGO Batman Movie Sets Revealed In DK’s The LEGO Batman Movie: The Essential Guide.

Allen over at The Brick Fan was kind enough to give us a sneak peek on some of the pages of one DK’s LEGO themed books, The LEGO Batman Movie: The Essential Guide. This latest offering from Dorling Kindersley promises to give an inside look at ALL of the LEGO sets (including those yet to be announced) used in the animated film, so it is naturally interesting to know what these new vehicles and sets will look like as revealed in the book. The Essential Guide is one of the several books that DK has lined up in celebration of our black and yellow hero’s own film. It is currently available for purchase via Amazon and retails at $12.99. I suggest that you check it out right away if you have plans of purchasing the book since it’s selling out fast. Here’s a complete description of DK’s The LEGO Batman Movie: The Essential Guide.

DK TLBM Essentials Cover 1 e1483018688476

The perfect companion to LEGO Batman’s first solo movie, The LEGO® Batman™ Movie: The Essential Guide showcases the full range of exciting LEGO Batman sets and minifigures that will be released to tie in with the film’s release. Heroes, villains, vehicles, and locations are all explored in classic DK style, with lively and informative nonfiction text to annotate and expand upon lavish reference images of LEGO Batman sets and scenes from the movie.

These pages from The Essential Guide highlights three LEGO Batman Movie sets that caters to the rogues of the film, plus another vehicle added to the armory of the Caped Crusader’s war machines. As you will notice from the snapshots below, the Black Thunder is described as a modified Batwing as we saw it in the trailer. The build itself is quite impressive, though the predominantly black-colored bricks used in building the set may prove to be quite of a challenge. Included in the same set together with the Black Thunder is Harley Quinn’s cannon truck, with enough firepower loud enough to rival that of the deafening, evil laugh of the villainess. We also get to see Two-Face’s Technic-like wrecking machine which looks quite similar to a LEGO Technic Volvo L350F Wheel Loader (42030).

black thunder Cannon Truck

Aside from being a part-time pizza delivery guy in the Scarecrow Special Delivery (70910), we now see the supervillain with a true ride of his own in his fear gas-equipped Scarecopter.  Lastly, we finally get to see what most Batman fans are waiting for. We now get to see Bane in his impressive bigfig form, and a sand buggy kind of a vehicle to go along with it. I strongly feel that fans will probably pick up this set because of the former.

We hope to see more sets officially revealed by LEGO anytime soon now that DK’s The LEGO Batman Movie: The Essential Guide is finally out. Now that we’re just less than two months shy from the film’s theatrical release on February 10, we can’t wait to see those handsome images.

Thanks once again to Allen of The Brick Fan for sharing these snapshots.
