LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262) Official Reveal

After all the teasing via social media, and an unintentional reveal via a German automobile fan site, LEGO has now pulled back the veil from its next top secret set in tribute to the world’s classiest secret agent of all time. For those who are anxiously waiting if the set will come with a LEGO James Bond minifigure, I’m sorry to say that it doesn’t. I’m not really sure about the reason behind it, but I guess this is somehow in line with LEGO Creator Expert’s long-standing tradition with its vehicles subtheme which does not include any relevant minifigures.

LEGO Reveals Another Marvel Superheroes Set Just in Time for SDCC 2018: the Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115)

Its look like LEGO is into mechs recently. Following last June’s reveal of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Mech vs. Poison Ivy Mech (76117), it will be joined by another exclusive set coming from the Marvel side of the fence, during this week at San Diego Comic Con. UK’s pop culture hub site, Gizmodo UK, reports that another pair of LEGO mechs will make its way to SDCC in the next few days: the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115).

Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115)

Just to be clear, these first 2019 LEGO Super Heroes sets will not be on sale during SDCC 2018, but will be available starting December 1. The Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115) comes in 604 pieces and will retail for $50 on launch day. It features the minifigures of Spider-Man, Ghost Spider (aka Spider Gwen), Venom and Aunt May. All of the LEGO Marvel superheroes minifigure included in this set comes with their own high-tech weaponry: Spider-Man and Venom with their respective battle mechs, and Ghost Spider with her hoverboard. As for the builds themselves, the Venom Mech is bulkier and more superior in design as compared to that of Spider-Man. It very well suits the intimidating character of my all-time favorite symbiote. In fact, Venom is one of my favorite anti-hero characters in Marvel, and seeing him with an impressive LEGO brick-built ride of his own is absolutely exciting. This is also the third time that we will see a minifigure version of Venom, which is quite different from his past renditions as seen in 2013’s Spider-Man: Spider-Cycle Chase (76004) and 2014’s LEGO Juniors Spider-Man: Spider-Car Pursuit (10665). The Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115) set also sees the return of Aunt May in minifigure form which we last saw from Spider-Man: Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle (76057). This newer version of Aunt May comes with a different torso print, though the face print and hair accessory is basically the same. Finally, fans of Ghost Spider will be glad to see that she finally has an actual LEGO minifigure of her own. We already saw how great she was in LEGO minifig form as a playable character in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, and it was a good call on LEGO’s part to have her this time as an actual minifigure.

Here’s LEGO’s press release and product description for the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech (76115). Thanks to The Brothers Brick for more info.

This Upcoming LEGO Book New Edition Comes With An Exclusive Printed LEGO Brick

Here’s another LEGO DK book to add to any LEGO fan’s library. Following the announcement of an updated LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary, DK has announced another LEGO-themed book that offers a fresh, new perspective on everything that we love about the LEGO brick. The LEGO Book New Edition explores the story of the LEGO Group and its iconic products, just in time with the patented LEGO brick’s 60th anniversary, and the 40th year of the LEGO minifigure.  As an added bonus, LEGO and DK publishing is including an exclusive, printed LEGO brick that goes with the book.

Celebrate and explore the incredible story of the LEGO Group and its much-loved bricks, sets, minifigures, movies, games, and more with this updated and expanded edition.

Take a dazzling visual tour through all the groundbreaking moments in LEGO® history, from the company’s humble beginnings in a carpenter’s workshop to the invention of the iconic LEGO brick and LEGO minifigure, through to the stunning toys, video games and movies of today, including LEGO® Star Wars™, THE LEGO® NINJAGO® MOVIE™, and LEGO® Dimensions. This special edition of The LEGO® Book has been fully updated and expanded with the latest LEGO sets and fascinating facts to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick and the 40th anniversary of the minifigure. Go behind the scenes to learn how LEGO bricks are made; find out how amazing fan creations become real-life LEGO sets, and marvel at how LEGO bricks made it to the computer screen and the big screen. Created in full collaboration with the LEGO Group, The LEGO® Book is a treasure trove for LEGO fans of all ages.

Though the image posted in Amazon seems to be a prelim and does not show how this exclusive LEGO brick looks like, I hope it is something different from the 2×4 60th year commemorative plate that LEGO has released with the Build Bigger Thinking sets. I reckon that this exclusive brick may somehow be similar to the commemorative 3M beam that was released together with 2017’s LEGO Technic sets.

The LEGO Book New Edition is now available for pre-order via Amazon, retailing for $25. It is scheduled for release on October 2, 2018.

Another SDCC 2018 LEGO Exclusive Reveal: LEGO DC Black Lightning Minifigure

After the reveal of this year’s first LEGO SDCC exclusive minifigure in the character of Sheriff Deadpool, we now have our second one coming from DC Comics, or more specifically from CW’s rendition of him. Revealed via Twitter, the LEGO DC Black Lightning minifigure features the television version of the retired superhero Jefferson Pierce who has the ability to harness and manipulate electricity at will. This is the first time ever that Black Lightning is in LEGO minifigure form, though he is not the first CW character to be given the honor of having the said LEGO SDCC tribute. Starting 2015, we have the characters of Arsenal, Atom in 2016, and Vixen from last year given the SDCC exclusive LEGO treatment.

LEGO DC Black Lightning

True to form, Black Lightning’s minifigure comes with finely detailed printing against a black background. The level of detail on the head piece is also spot on, with emphasis on his blue goggles that goes very well with the blue and yellow streaks of lightning on his torso.

LEGO DC Black Lightning

This SDCC exclusive, LEGO DC Black Lightning minifigure will be available for convention attendees via a lottery system, on July 20 from 10AM to 12NN, while Sheriff Deadpool will be on Saturday, July 21 also during the same time. This leaves us with the last minifigure reveal coming from the LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. This minifig is slated to be available on the last day of the comic-con, July 22, and will be revealed anytime soon tomorrow or on Saturday.

German AutoBILD Site Gives a First Look at the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262)

We’re roughly a week away before the curtains are pulled from this month’s next LEGO big reveal. Shrouded in mystery and enigma in the tradition of the world’s most iconic secret agent, LEGO is understandably reticent in giving out details regarding this next LEGO Creator Expert set – save for a silhouette of its corresponding box art and a teaser of its wheels.  Now it looks like the secret is already out and spreading like wild fire across various social media platforms, and has been caught eventually by German motorhead AutoBILD.  Though their line of interest is practically (and obviously) about cars and vehicles, it didn’t took long before the site caught attention of what seems to be a LEGO VIP invitation that glaringly displays an image of the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262).

Aston Martin DB5 (10262)

From the looks of it, it seems that the above image was not sourced directly to AutoBILD but was picked up by the site via social media sources. So please pardon me if I have to blur out this part of the image – we don’t want to disturb the peace once again (if you know what I mean). Anyway, this particular image as I said earlier shows the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262) in all its bluish gray glory. I love how this brick-built version of the venerable Aston Martin DB5 turned out, with a distinct LEGO Creator signature design all around it. If you’re perfectly alright with spoilers and leaks, then I believe you can easily find your way through social media to check out this image yourself. And if you can hold on to that excitement until the 18th, and will prefer to steer away from sites in favor of seeing some crisp, HD images later on, then I suggest that you stay tuned here in our site.

So what do you think about this latest LEGO offering? Excited for this one as well? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis to Screen for SDCC 2018 Attendees Before Home Video Release

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis is the latest installment of the LEGO-WB Animation collaboration 3D animated film series. Unlike its cinematic counterpart, The LEGO Batman Movie, where LEGO partners with Warner Animation Group (WAG) instead, these LEGO DC superhero adventures are home-video or digital only.

But if you’re a LEGO/DC fan wondering what it must feel like to watch LEGO Aquaman with a theater crowd, you might be in luck if you’re planning to attend the 2018 San Diego Comic Con. That’s because there’s a panel for the movie and it’s going to be shown.

After LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis is screened in advance at the SDCC, there will be a post-showing panel with some of the film’s voice talent and the production heads to answer fan questions about the movie. The major cool factor for those con attendees who make the screening is that they’re also giving away the exclusive LEGO DCSH minifigure of the Jessica Cruz Green Lantern, the same one that’s included in the DVD/Blu-Ray boxes for LEGO Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis.

rage of atlantis

The film finds LEGO Aquaman facing a crisis of confidence in his rule as King of Atlantis following attacks by the Red Lanterns led by Atrocitus. But with the perspective gained by a journey he makes away from home, and the help of his friends in the Justice League, Aquaman may yet prove himself as King of the Seven Seas.

The SDCC Rage of Atlantis Screening and Post-Showing Panel will be on Sunday July 22, 2018 1:45-3:30pm in Room 6BCF. Amazon is currently offering this home video for pre-order so you may want to check this out as well.

In LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman – Rage of Atlantis, the King of Atlantis must make some difficult decisions to ensure the future of his ocean realm. Under attack from Atrocitus and the Red Lanterns, Aquaman realizes he must relinquish his sovereignty and go on a journey to regain his confidence before returning to his rightful throne. Along the way, Aquaman reunites with the Justice League – including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and newest member Jessica Cruz/Green Lantern – to conquer Atlantis’ latest enemy and reemerge as the ruler of the Seven Seas.

Thanks to The Brick Fan for the heads up.
