A Look At Possible LEGO Star Wars 2017 Summer Sets.

We have two days to go before we jump into hyperspace once more and experience Star Wars all over again with its first anthology film Rogue One. We saw an impressive line-up of LEGO sets dedicated to the spin-off film, and expect much more as 2017 kicks in. We previously mentioned some of these sets last September and it’s great to see that these predictions were quite accurate. So before we hit the theaters on Friday to see Rogue One on the big screen, let’s pause and take a look at the recent developments on this highly successful theme. Thanks to some kind souls over at Eurobricks and Reddit, we now have an idea how these next wave of LEGO Star Wars sets will be like, as it due for release this Summer of 2017. Here’s how they are in a nutshell.

75144 Snowspeeder

Based on vehicles used in Hoth and presumably part of the Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series, this UCS may roughly be based on its similarly named, smaller cousin, 75049.

75098 Func 003 03 snowspeeder ef2f9334

75166 Battle Pack(EP VII)

Predicted to be from Episode VII The Force Awakens, the minifigs included in this set are 2 First Order Stormtroopers, 1 Flametrooper, and 1 Officer.

75167 Battle Pack (Bounty Hunters)

This one is a sure win for those elite few of Star Wars fans who have learned to admire the exploits (or mishap) of these legendary Bounty Hunters. This battle pack is rumored to include Dengar, IG-88, 4-LOM and Zuckuss.

75178 (Jakku Quadjumper)

Remember that starship preferred to by Rey and Finn over the hulking Millennium Falcon in TFA?

quadjumper a936657f

Though too bad it didn’t get more than a minute of airtime when J.J. Abrams decided it’s better off as pyrotechnic material, it is good to know that it may get the LEGO treatment that it deserves very soon. Minifigures for this set include Rey, Finn, BB-8 and a First Order Stormtrooper.

75179 Rebel Hangar

Possibly from Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The set is said to include an A-Wing and a rebel base hangar. Minifigs expected to be with this set are Lando, a Rebel Pilot and a Crewman.

75180 (Rathtar Escape)

A highly dangerous tentacled predator that first appeared on the big screen in The Force Awakens, the Rathar is also fortunate enough to be immortalized in a LEGO set.

rathtar 2d828790

Perhaps it may bear some semblance with the same tentacled creature (Dormammu?)  as seen from Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum 76060. Minifigures include Chewbacca, Han Solo, 2 more figures, possibly as members of the Guavian Death Gang.

75182 Republic Fighter Tank

Back in 2008, LEGO came up with a set under its Star Wars The Clone Wars subtheme named as Republic Fighter Tank (7679). This time, LEGO may have plans to rehash the set and throw in some newer versions of the following minifigures: Aayla Secura, a Clone Commander and 2 Battle Droids.7679 0000 xx 23 1 e1481646416369

75183 Darth Vader Transformation

Another seemingly rehashed set, this expected LEGO Star Wars summer set takes hint from an earlier one from 2005 bearing the same title (Darth Vader Transformation 7251).7251 0000 xx 23 1 e1481646474588

Based on that final epic scene where Palpatine takes into his custody the broken  and wounded body of Anakin which he later transformed to become Darth Vader, the set is said to include a Battle Damaged Anakin, Darth Vader, and  Emperor Palpatine.

75185 Tracker I

Other than being a part of the Freemaker subtheme, we have no other details about this set except for another minifig version of Emperor Palpatine and Rowan.

75186 Arrowhead

The Freemakers has a penchant for naming their creations based on their primary features, and this one is no exception. Though the set’s name is not yet final, we may expect the minifigures of Mon Calmari, RO-GR, and Mr. & Mrs. Freemaker to be a part of this set.

75191 Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring

Hinting at an Episode II Attack of the Clones reference, set 75191 may feature the looks of a Delta-7 Jedi Starfighter mounted on its Hyperdrive Booster Ring similar to the one used by Obi Wan as he chases Boba Fett across a field of asteroids. This is also one of the coolest space dog fights that I ever saw in a Star Wars film. Click here to watch its video.Obi Wan hyperdrive ring

Included in this set are the minifigure versions of the younger Obi Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, and an Astromech. It is interesting to note that since a hyperdrive docking ring was mentioned (as we see it on that epic space dogfight in Episode II), will it be possible that the set will come with a smaller version of the Slave 1 as well?

There are still a handful of LEGO Star Wars sets waiting to be revealed next year – 25 to be exact as listed by Brickset. Given the attention that Star Wars and Disney licenses are getting from LEGO, we can expect that LEGO still has a lot of surprises in store for us.

LEGO Batman Movie Summer Sets and Rumors.

A few moments ago, we were delighted to see The LEGO Batman Movie’s first extended TV spot trailer featuring Joker’s best villain posse ever. With plenty of new minifigure characters – both from Batman’s rogue gallery and JLA’s Super Friends , most of us has been wondering already, what will the five remaining summer sets be?

Thanks once again to LEGO insider Delta Customs, we now have a pretty good guess on how these final wave of LEGO Batman Movie sets will be like.

  • Bane set with Bane, Mutant Leader, and Batman.
  • Small Scarecrow Plane/Helicopter with Scarecrow and Batman.
  • Two Face truck/car including but not limited to, Two Face and Batman.
  • LEGO Batman Movie Summer Set that includes:
    • Big Batmobile that splits into a Batwing, a Batcycle, and still functions as a Batmobile with all those removed.
    • Features a big bat signal
    • Figures include Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Alfred in a different costume, and the villains of the set, none other than the Wicked Witch and two Flying Monkeys.
  • Fifth LEGO Batman Movie Set includes:
    • Batwing (as seen in trailers)
    • Figures include Batman, Robin and Harley Quinn
    • Comes with a cannon build

As it seems, one particular set is dedicated to Bane himself and so far, based on the trailers, we haven’t seen any other rendition of Bane other than his bigfig version. So for those who are clamoring for the bigfig version of the villain that have ‘broken the Bat’, this could be the set that you’ve all been waiting for.

Scarecrow seems to be on a roll since another set is rumored to be released featuring him on a smaller plane or a chopper of sorts. This is another set apart from the Scarecrow Special Delivery (70910). We also assume that Scarecrow’s minifigure will feature his typical straw getup as seen below.

LBM 3

One of the key elements in The LEGO Batman Movie is the presence of the villains’ cool rides such as the Joker’s Notorious Lowrider (70906), the Penguin’s Arctic Roller (70911), and the Killer Croc Tail-Gator (70907). Delta teases on another ride where the infamous Two Face enters the fray with his very own truck.

70906 1 70911 1

70907 alt1 lego batman 1024x576

Finally, the last two sets that Delta predicted focus on a rather different version of the Batmobile as compared to that of 70905. It is a hybrid of sorts where this Batmobile is capable of splitting into three, smaller vehicles including a Batwing, a Batcycle, and a smaller Batmobile. My guess is that each of the smaller vehicles is intended to be piloted all at the same time by Batman, Robin and Batgirl since their respective minifigures are also included in the set. Same as with the others, a villain is thrown in together with this set, and in this case it is the Wicked Witch (probably that from LEGO Dimensions, since the animated film is expected to be a crossover of sorts) and two Flying Monkeys minifigs as you can see from the images’ backgrounds below.

LBM 8 LBM 7

The fifth and presumably final set has the Batwing on the spotlight as it is seen in the trailers. The set is said to feature a cannon-like build and will also include the minifigs of Batman, Robin and Harley Quinn. It was hinted on by The Brick Fan that this version of Harley may resemble closely the version that was seen on the banner at New York Comic Con.

NYCC

The last wave of LEGO Batman Movie sets is expected to be released by summer, 2017. We hope to get some official set images anytime soon, considering that we’re just two months away before the movie makes its debut in the US on February 10 next year.

Here’s What We Know So Far About The LEGO Spider-Man Homecoming Sets.

A couple of days ago, we shared with you one of the LEGO Star Wars ‘Easter eggs’ that was cleverly revealed during the release of the first official trailer of Disney and Marvel’s next big film, Spider-Man: Homecoming. Now being the second most trending video in YouTube with more than 15 million views already since it debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live last Thursday, we now have some information on what possible LEGO sets that we can expect from the film. Thanks to Delta Customs – whom many of his predictions turned out to be 99% accurate, especially regarding how the LEGO Batman Movie sets will look like – we now have an idea on what LEGO has in store for good ‘ol Spidey.

banner435

Understanding the very close relationship between Disney and LEGO, Delta Customs noted that there will be TWO sets that LEGO will release to give the highly celebrated MCU film the LEGO treatment it deserves. Here’s what he shared over his Instagram account.

Spider-Man Homecoming

Set #1

  • Bank robbery
  • Spider-Man and two robbers
  • The robbers have “Avengers in their names”

Set #2

  • Car
  • Spider-Man, Vulture (Big brick-built wings), Shocker, Iron Man

If you have seen the trailer already (which I bet you did for the Nth time), you’ll notice that pretty funny scene when Spidey confronts a group of certain bank robbers disguised as Avengers wannabes. Could this be what Delta Customs was hinting at? Actually, I feel that there is nothing much to speculate about the play features of a set based on a bank heist. But since this is everyone’s favorite web crawler, then I’m sure LEGO will give it a twist that every Marvel fan will enjoy.

spider man avengers thor

Upon the mention of the second LEGO set having a Vulture character with big, brick-built wings, I felt right away that this may be some kind of mech-build or armor that may be mounted on Vulture’s minifig. But given how the Vulture may look like as seen in the trailer, it begs the question of how LEGO will render this supervillain given all the tech that he has with him.

Vulture suit 1

It is also interesting to note that we see Tony Stark donning his Mark 46 suit at the end of the trailer, so it’s most likely that what Delta was referring to was the Iron Man minifig similar to what we already have in LEGO Marvel Superheroes Super Hero Airport Battle (76051). Of course, it’s too early to tell at this point, though it will be kind of cool to see a new Iron Man suit along Spider-Man in an epic battle scene with the Vulture and the Shocker.

spider man iron man mark 46

Spider-Man Homecoming is set to hit theaters in July next year, so we will still have a few months to ponder how these sets will be like, giving an account of what Delta Customs has revealed. What can you say about these predicted sets? Do you think LEGO and Disney could have done a better job? Several New LEGO Sets To Look Forward To On The First Quarter of 2017: Speed Champions, Adventure Time, and Mighty Micros.

This has been floating around for quite some time already, but I suppose such news is definitely noteworthy considering the excitement surrounding most of them. In various, separate occasions during the past days, LEGO has announced several sets slated for release between the months of January and December. I’ve compiled them here for one quick look and some bits of info to put them in perspective.

LEGO Speed Champions 2017 sets

speedchampford

LEGO and Ford entered into another partnership in their latest collaboration under the Speed Champions theme. Ford became an icon in the racing circuit when it won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1966, and bagging the title once more for this year. In honor of Ford’s achievements for the past 50 years, LEGO has announced several new Speed Champions sets including the 2016 Ford GT & 1966 Ford GT40 (75881) which will be available in March next year.

Here’s what LEGO Speed Champions Design Manager Craig Callum has to say.

Other than set 75881, there are six additional sets under this theme that will be officially revealed later on. Credit goes to Brickset for listing the set number and titles of these speedsters.

  • Mercedes-AMG GT3 (75877)
  • Bugatti Chiron (75878)
  • Scuderia Ferrari SF16-H (75879)
  • Mercedes Pit Stop (75880)
  • Ferrari FXX K & Development Center (75882)
  • Formula 1 Mercedes AMG Petronas (75883)

LEGO Ideas Adventure Time (21308)

Following this year’s release of the Yellow Submarine (21306) and Caterham Seven 620R (21307), comes another LEGO Ideas set that welcomes the comedy duo of Finn and Jake. Based on a Cartoon Network original, the LEGO Ideas Adventure Time (21308) features brick-built figures of several known characters from the Land of Ooo including Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Marceline, BMO, Gunter and Ice King all coming in at 495 pieces. Take a look at these images.

More Details on the LEGO Superheroes Mighty Micros

LEGO has also recently revealed the official box art images of its 2017 DC and Marvel Superheroes Mighty Micros including their respective set number and piece count. First announced during this year’s San Diego Comic Con, these sets feature the most powerful superheroes and villains all shrunk up together with their chibi rides.

LEGO Employee Christmas Gift 2016 Now Making Their Rounds Over At eBay

Perhaps other than being a part of one of the coolest toy manufacturers in the world are the holiday perks that go along with the job. Not only does LEGO offer a good range of seasonal Christmas sets and vignettes for its loyal fans and customers, but TLG also extends the Yuletide cheers among the lifeblood of its company – the ever-reliable LEGO Brand Store employees. Running for more than five years already, the LEGO employee Christmas gift has become a theme of its own, with fans showing considerable interests on these collectibles that are not found in any LEGO Brand or Certified stores.

However, like any other rumored LEGO set that is soon to be released, leaks and insider info abound due in part of the popularity of these exclusive sets. I wish to clarify at this point that we are not in any way the primary source of these leaks, but rather like an observer that records and shares what is going on under the LEGO sun, we want the LEGO community to be aware of these developments. Sometimes (or even in most cases) it becomes a mere pointing out of the obvious, of addressing the elephant in the room so to speak. The proliferation of this year’s LEGO Employee Christmas Gift within the secondary market such as that on eBay as early as four weeks before Christmas seems to be quite apparent already that it’s hard to pretend not to be aware of it.

However, if you are expecting to receive this gift anytime soon and wish not to throw in some cold water to douse your excitement, then be forewarned and hit the back button of your web browser. With that out of the way, here are some images that we stumbled upon over at eBay through a tip from Promobricks. By far, this is the largest LEGO Employee Gift that the company has come up with coming in at a total of 1,141 pieces. Tagged as set 4002016, and aptly named 50 Years on Track, the set pays tribute to six of LEGO’s miniature train sets beginning 1966.

4002016 2

The box art itself shows several snippets of how LEGO trains evolved during the years, highlighting particular models as it passes through generations of the Kirk family. Included in this set are smaller versions of LEGO’s first motorized train in 1966, the Western Train from 1976, the advanced Monorail Transport System in 1987, the Metroliner in 1991, the elegant Emerald Night from 2009, and the festive Winter Holiday Train (10254).

Frankly speaking, I envy the LEGO Store employee that will receive this one and I can’t just imagine how some people can let go of this exquisite set for the price of several bucks. This can easily pass as a D2C set that any serious LEGO train collector will definitely not ignore. I love how LEGO managed to capture and celebrate the last 50 years of its train systems, while showing the progress that it has made in terms of the sets playability and features. Each train also comes with its corresponding rail which I assume can be connected to one another to create various railways. We hope to grab (or perhaps borrow) a set later on so we can share our reviews and learn more about the set’s features.

What do you think about this year’s LEGO Employee Christmas Gift? Do you think LEGO outdid their selves this time with this one?

If You’re as Cool as Batman, You Deserve a Weekly Wrap-Up – Here’s Our Latest LEGO Batman Movie Updates!

Though I’ve been in hiatus for almost a week, our Caped Crusader has no luxury of doing so, especially with all the buzz surrounding Warner Brothers’ latest brick-built film that features none other than Batman himself (obviously). We’ve seen several of the film’s most gorgeous, brick-built sets and must-have collectible minifigures, and this time let’s pause and take a look at the recent developments in LEGO Gotham before we hit theaters in February 10.

New LEGO Batman Movie Poster Revealing Several New Characters

Last Thursday, Warner Bros. surprised us with their latest LEGO Batman Movie poster. What makes this stand out from the film’s initial promotional posters was the fact that other than celebrating this comical, egocentric version of the Dark Knight, we somehow have a grasp of how big the movie is considering the diversity of DC characters that LEGO has thrown in. If WB intends to level up the excitement for this film, then I say that this pretty cool poster really does the job.

tlmdecposter

Other than the characters that we know already, the poster also reveals several new ones that are expected to be in the film such as Hugo Strange, Mutant Leader, and Blight. Way in the background, we also get to glimpse some of the latest villains included in the LEGO Batman Movie CMF such as March Harriet and Mime. Can you identify other new faces from this poster?

A Close Up on Two, New LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigs

Several of our readers were delighted to know that Batman will also be receiving the Scottish Highlands treatment with an exclusive minifigure that comes together with one of Scholastic’s latest LEGO Batman Movie Activity Book. Thanks to Bricklink, we now get to see the latest LEGO Batman Movie Tartan minifigure. Though we’re not certain if we’ll get to see this iteration of Batman on the big screen, it’s definitely one collectible that will stand out in our hero’s wardrobe.

sh304

For those who are looking forward to have the latest Batman minifigure without breaking the bank, then LEGO Magazine publisher Blue Ocean Entertainment has something in store. Thanks to a tip by Promo Bricks, we learned that the Germany-based publisher will be releasing a limited-edition polybag (foil pack?) promotional that features this new iteration of Batman with its new utility belt element. Here’s how the polybag looks like as shared by Promo Bricks.

lego-batmanmovie-figur-ebay1 lego-batmanmovie-figur-ebay2

Though it is highly unlikely that this German magazine promotional will hit US shores, fans in the local scene may also have a chance to own this minifigure through another polybag that was earlier announced.

NEW LEGO Batman Movie CMF Packaging Photo

LEGO is definitely cranking up the buzz and excitement with the LEGO Batman Movie CMF by uploading on its servers the latest packaging for its highly anticipated collectible minifigure series. Well, I guess Batman has to rethink his color schemes (from working only with black and very, very dark gray) by including yellow in the mix – this color will definitely stick around for quite some time.

Two New Sets Introduced: The Penguin Arctic Roller (70911) and Scarecrow Special Delivery (70910)

Last Wednesday, Jason shared several images of two, new LEGO Batman Movie sets that will hit store shelves anytime soon. It features one of the best, if not THE best LEGO Batman Movie vehicle (in my opinion) that ever arrives in a set. The Penguin Arctic Roller (70911) sports a very impressive ride for the suave criminal mastermind that features a classy Rolls Royce design. I can just imagine how great Penguin’s ride will look like side by side with Joker’s Notorious Lowrider (70906). Similarly, another Batman villain enters the scene and I’m pretty sure that it will not be that difficult to spot him even in his pizza delivery guy costume. The Scarecrow will definitely have some screen time as he gets another set with the Scarecrow Special Delivery (70910). What is great about this set is that it is said to have interlocking play features together with The Joker Balloon Escape (70900) and Mr. Freeze Ice Attack (70901) that reveals one major key plot in the film.

New Mini Batwing Polybag (30524) Revealed!

LEGO’s January Store Calendar has just arrived (more about this later) and with it, comes an announcement of a new polybag promotional that features a new Mini Batwing (30524). From December 27 to January 15, you can have a chance to own this miniaturized version of the Batwing for qualifying purchases of $35 and above. Will give you updates on this once we obtain clearer images of the January LEGO Store Calendar.

Brick Show’s Updated LEGO Batman Movie Database

batman-300px

You may have seen it already, but in case you have missed it, we’ve just revamped our database by including our set reviews within the set’s pages starting with of course, with the LEGO Batman Movie theme. Since last December 1, we’ve rolled out a handful of reviews of all the sets – yes, ALL of it – that has been revealed so far under the theme. Click on this link to check out our database (which I find very convenient). Alternatively, you can also watch Stephen’s reviews over our usual YouTube channel and also on Amazon.

Though it may not have officially kicked in, some online retailers – such as Amazon – have already begun their deals as early as the start of this week. A few days back, we have posted information on a few LEGO sets that are rumored to be on LEGO’s Brick Friday list. Though we understand that LEGO doesn’t usually post this info earlier ahead of Brick Friday (LEGO wishes to somehow level the playing field), it is fun and perhaps helpful to speculate what sets will make it to the list. Last year, we saw a total of 45 sets offered for as much as 40% discount, with most of them offered at 30% off on the average. Similar to 2015’s LEGO promotional of the Gingerbread House (40139), fans can expect another seasonal set for this year as a free give-away for every single receipt purchase of $99 and above. The Snowglobe (40223) may be availed only from November 25 to 28 or until supplies last so expect some stiff competition to get this one.

While waiting for this year’s insiders’ list to appear again, we took the liberty of selecting the best LEGO deals that we found over at Amazon. Though this may seem to be unnecessary given the prominence and obvious advantages of most Black Friday deals, it should be noted however, that Amazon usually gives pieces of clues on what these items are. Like cookie crumbs scattered on a pathway, Amazon somehow ‘teases’ about these ahead of Brick Friday’s holiday shopping spree. If our theory is somehow correct, then these LEGO sets that we extracted from Amazon may likewise be included on LEGO’s Brick Friday list. This is just speculation though, but given that most customers have patiently waited for these promos, and that Amazon have already lowered the prices of certain LEGO sets – as much as 30% and more to be exact – then we are pretty sure that it is not far-fetched to consider that the online retail giant will either retain their prices or lower it further.

So with that of the way, here are some LEGO sets that you may find appealing, especially that they are listed for as much 30% off. Just click on the links below to bring you over at the Amazon page of that particular set or you may also check with shop.LEGO.com and compare their prizes.

To sweeten the deal, LEGO is giving away the exclusive, limited-edition Snowglobe (40223) for every qualifying purchase of $99 and more both in-store and online.  We’ll be happy to receive your feedback just in case you have any Brick Friday info to share.
