As we reported last week, LEGO is coming out with a new theme called LEGO Fusion and it is supposed to combine real play with virtual play. We have just learned that a corresponding LEGO Fusion website is now live and it has details of the theme itself as well as each of the sets included in the theme.
Watch the teaser video below found on the LEGO Fusion website.
If you recall, this latest convergence of brick building and virtual play consists of four new LEGO Fusion sets: the Town Master 21204, the Battle Towers 21205, the Create & Race 21206, and the Resort Designer 21208. LEGO has also released videos dedicated to some of these sets which you can watch below.
Three of the sets will be available in August and the final (Resort Designer) will be available in September and they will cost $34.99 each.
A new LEGO Friends Jungle Boat polybag may be hitting Toys R Us stores, and the Amazon online store very soon.
The LEGO Friends Jungle Boat 30115 has shown up on Amazon and is now available in TRU stores. It retails for $4.99 each and you get a LEGO Friends Olivia mini-doll with a lime-green boat.
If you’re looking for a cost-effective way of bagging this LEGO Friends Olivia minidoll, then I wholeheartedly endorse this set as an option. Building the boat model is a joyful experience, accentuated by the introduction of a fresh color for the classic walkie-talkie accessory.
I have to say that the choice of mini-doll pieces, specifically Olivia’s legs, feels somewhat commonplace for the selected color scheme, and her top doesn’t seamlessly complement them. Nevertheless, I’m confident that younger builders will be more than glad to experiment with mixing and matching mini-doll parts, and this polybag provides a cost-effective solution to do so.
165 pieces | Includes 3 Research Scientists | $19.99
Explore the world and beyond at the LEGO Ideas Research Institute!
The LEGO Ideas Research Institute has everything that you need to explore the world below, around, and above us! Created by real-life geoscientist, Ellen Kooijman (alias: Alatariel), and selected by LEGO® Ideas members (formerly known as CUUSOO), this collection of scenes depicts three varied professions within the world of natural science.
Help the paleontologist study the origin of dinosaurs with the magnifying glass, map the skies with the astronomer and her telescope, and assist the chemist as she carries out experiments in her lab. This set also includes building instructions, as well as a booklet containing information about the creator and an introduction to each of the professions featured in the set. There’s a whole world of exciting professions out there to explore – build and role-play them to see if they suit you! Includes 3 minifigures: paleontologist, astronomer and chemist.
A new LEGO City Police Helicopter 30226 polybag has started to show up at Target stores.
It was found at the checkout aisles where you usually find other LEGO polybags. It retails for $3.99 each and it’s a small upgrade from last year’s helicopter 30222.
It was first spotted over at LEGO Shop@Home and is now unlisted. Perhaps LEGO intends this latest LEGO City polybag to be a Target-exclusive, though I’m just speculating at this point.
It looks like there will be a new polybag coming out later this year – the LEGO MINI Cooper 40109.
Based on its larger counterpart the LEGO MINI Cooper MK VII 1042, this LEGO polybag rendition is a miniature-scale version of the iconic camping vehicle.
There’s no word yet on how to get the polybag but there’s speculation that it may be a freebie at LEGO later this year. Below are the instructions for the set and you can build your own if you have the right pieces.
News coming out of Brickworld Chicago is that the LEGO Mixels Series will be coming soon and that we will be getting info in the next couple of months.
What We Know So Far About the LEGO Mixels Series
This is good news if you’re a fan of this quirky theme – either just for their wacky designs or just for the spare LEGO pieces that they so richly come with. The news comes from an “extremely reliable” source that the popular figures will be around for a very long time.
From what we know, there will be three more tribes to be added to the LEGO Mixels theme in 2015, with each clan of three combining into a LEGO Mixel Max figure.
That is all the news we can release at this point, and you may want to take this with a grain of salt. But stay tuned for more information as we get them. In the meantime, here’s a clip from LEGO Mixels Episode 2 that you may want to watch.
LEGO has just launched 4 new LEGO Fusion sets that blend physical play with the digital world. As mentioned, there will be four sets that will be released sometime in August and September.

LEGO Fusion Sets to Watch Out For
Town Master 21204
In this simulation game, players create and rule their own LEGO town, first by building it with LEGO bricks, then by capturing it and importing it into the game. Children build everything from houses to a pizzeria, fire station, and bike shop while completing errands and missions like catching robbers, fighting fires, and skateboarding. To keep the minifigure citizens happy, players solve problems through physical building and earn points to gain access to more structures, and even run additional towns.
Battle Towers 21205
Players build a tower and defend it against attack so they can rule the kingdom. First, players design the Battle Towers with real LEGO pieces, then capture them and import them into the game. Next, players choose tower defenders like wizards and archers and battle against evil warriors, skeleton armies, and more. If a tower is damaged in battle, players can repair the damage with a timed build with the game’s real LEGO bricks.
Create & Race 21206
In this racing game, players get behind the wheel and virtually drive the cars that they create with real LEGO bricks. Once a custom vehicle is digitally designed, physically built, and imported to the game, it can be optimized for success in racing, demolition, or stunts. Players learn that every brick shape and color on the vehicle matters for performance. Three themed courses offer endless challenges unlocked by physical LEGO builds, and children can even ghost race against friends to top the leaderboard.
Resort Designer 21208
Players help the LEGO Friends design new vacation houses, shops, and activities for Ambersands Beach. After building 2-D facades, capturing them, and importing them into the game, players can design the interiors of 3-D digital structures, such as an aquarium, surf shop, and beach houses. Children can unlock new levels and build more resorts by completing missions like rescuing dolphins, riding horses, surfing, and other resort activities.
Beginning in September, these LEGO Fusion sets will incorporate the ability for players to access their digital LEGO creations and gameplay anywhere. Using their LEGO ID, players can sign in on any compatible device and access their gallery and gameplay from within the LEGO FUSION app.
Developed by TT Games, makers of the best-selling LEGO video game franchise, the LEGO Fusion sets Town Master, Battle Towers, Create & Race, and Resort Designer app games are free for download from the Apple, Google, or Samsung App Store for Apple iOS and Android.
These LEGO Fusion sets – Town Master, Battle Towers, and Create & Race will launch in August 2014; LEGO Fusion Resort Designer will launch in September 2014. Each will be available for $34.99 in LEGO Stores and TRU stores in the U.S. as well as online.
