ICYMI: Last Two Days Left To Join the LEGO Ideas You’re The Final Piece! Contest

Last month, LEGO Ideas and premium puzzle maker Chronicle Books have teamed up for a new and unique LEGO contest. Dubbed as the LEGO Ideas You’re The Final Piece! Contest, this contest challenges you to come up with your very own LEGO design or photograph that can be rendered into a 1,000-piece puzzle.

LEGO Ideas You're The Final Piece!

The contest has already begun its Idea Intake Stage last month and is about close this stage on July 20. As of date, the contest platform has already received almost 300 fan entries and will close its intake in two days. The LEGO Ideas You’re The Final Piece! contest mechanics are very much the same as that of the Music to Our Ears, and We Love Sports! building contests. After the Idea Intake, panelists will determine which among the entries will proceed to the Fan Vote Stage and the Product Idea Review Stage. Again, the LEGO Ideas Team reminds us that being selected as the winner from the Fan Vote Stage does not automatically guarantee that the winning entry will qualify to become an official puzzle. This will be determined by the Review Team under the Product Idea Review Stage.

lego ideas final piece rules jpeg

Contest entries may be divided into four categories, as per the LEGO Ideas contest rules:

Space & Astronomy

Think out of this world, real or imagined! We’re looking for images destined for infinity and beyond!

Nature Scenes

Jaw-dropping mountains, lush jungles, plants and flowers, detailed landscapes, and incredible sunsets would all be great entries in this category. We’re looking for nature at its most beautiful.

Retro

We’re talking anything older than 20 years or so, but brought back to life in LEGO bricks! Dig out the classics— LEGO nostalgia to vintage clothes, patterns, hairstyles, tech, or anything else that screams ‘retro-cool.’

Architecture

Modern, classic, ancient, futuristic? You be the architect! Find inspiration from classic styles or dream up the next big thing.

Four winners from the fan vote stage (one per category) will be chosen and will get to receive the following super-cool prizes.

Remember, you still have two days before the end of the fan submission stage. For the complete contest rules, don’t forget to check the guidelines right here.

New LEGO Star Wars Book Features The Return of a Familiar Character

Amazon US has just listed a new LEGO Star Wars book that features an endearing and familiar character from the recent Skywalker trilogy. The LEGO Star Wars Awesome Vehicles from DK is now listed over at Amazon US and is expected to be released in April 2022.

I know it’s a kind of very long wait before we can actually get our copy, but if you’re willing to have it pre-ordered as early as now, you can get it at a selling price of $20. And like other LEGO and DK books, this one comes with a free minifigure of Poe Dameron. A closer inspection of the image above shows that this minifig version of the legendary starfighter commander is similar to that found on this year’s LEGO Star Wars Resistance X-wing Starfighter (75297), and from 2016’s set 75149. It’s a great way to get this minifigure version in case you missed getting these sets.

LEGO Teams Up With Chronicle Books for a LEGO Still Life Photo Contest

Here’s another way of looking at LEGO.  Chronicle Books have teamed up with LEGO for a pretty neat LEGO Still Life Photo Contest where you can show your most creative brick rendition of real-life situations without connecting LEGO pieces! Here are some examples of creative entries.

Chronicle Books launches this contest to coincide with the upcoming release of their eight new licensed LEGO products in April, including a first in a line made specifically for adult fans of LEGO.

In order to join the LEGO Still Life Challenge, participants have to compose their own “still life” scene using only unconnected LEGO bricks. Then you need to share a photo in a public Instagram or Twitter post with hashtags #LEGOStillLife and #ChroniclexLEGO. Once shared over at social media, you need to enter the details of your entry at Chronicle Books’ website.

Orange LEGO Classic Spaceman Minifigure Coming In October 2020

Here’s something that will put a smile on Benny’s face. Amazon UK has listed a new LEGO book offering from DK Publishing and it comes with a freebie that LEGO fans of the classic Space genre will be raring to have. The LEGO Minifigure: A Visual History (New Edition) will be released later this year with an exciting new minifig that most of us will love to have – an orange LEGO Classic Spaceman minifigure!

01 orange lego classic space minifig

This new LEGO book chronicles the journey of the iconic LEGO minifigure, with an updated roster of the best minifigures around since 1978. Like most LEGO books released by DK, its quite obvious that the huge selling point of this upcoming book is the exclusive minifig that goes with it. Aside from having a cool reference material to the evolution of the LEGO minifig, this orange variant of the LEGO Classic Spaceman is a must-have for fans of the classic theme. If you already own the LEGO Movie2 Benny’s Space Squad (70841) set, then be sure to keep this DK offering under your radar. It will surely be a welcome gesture if LEGO will eventually consider re-releasing it’s Classic Space theme, similar to what they did with their 2015’s series of Pirates-inspired sets. But for now, other than Benny and his gang from the LEGO Movie 2, the closest that we currently have similar to this will be the LEGO City Space sets from last year.

Amazon UK is already accepting pre-orders as early as now, with the LEGO Minifigure: A Visual History (New Edition) tagged at £30.00. I’ll provide you with updates once this book appears in US stores or at Amazon US. Here’s a quick blurb of this new LEGO book.

LEGO Minifigure: A Visual History (New Edition)

orange lego classic space minifig

Celebrate the epic journey of the LEGO® minifigure with this new edition – featuring an exclusive spaceman minifigure!

Why don’t minifigures have ears? Which minifigure has appeared in the most ever sets? Which minifigure has a wolf alter ego?

This updated edition highlights the best minifigures from every year since 1978. Starring more than 2,000 of the most popular and rare minifigures from the LEGO® Minifigure Series and themes including LEGO® NINJAGO®, THE LEGO® MOVIE™, LEGO® Star Wars™, LEGO® City, LEGO® Harry Potter™ and many more. From divers, astronauts and vampires to Super Heroes, firefighters and movie characters, feast your eyes on the most awesome minifigures of every decade!

Build Your Own Collection of LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains With These Books

LEGO BrickHeadz is still going strong and with the recent reveal of the LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars Kylo Ren and Sith Trooper (75232), we can still expect that LEGO still has more plans for these brick collectibles. I guess part of the appeal with this theme is the fact that the design follows a prescribed format that allows you to recreate any of your favorite pop icons into a standard LEGO BrickHeadz. With a bit of experimenting with your own LEGO bricks, you can even come up with any BrickHeadz character that you want. This is the principle behind these collections of books written by Charles Pritchett – the unofficial guide of building your own LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains.

I first stumbled upon Charles’ works when I was casually browsing Brickset’s listing of available LEGO books. His Building LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes Volume One: The Unofficial Guide, and its counterpart that allows you to build a collection of BrickHeadz villains, immediately caught my attention. I am impressed with the excellent custom LEGO BrickHeadz sets that he was able to come up, especially when it included some of my favorite Marvel and DC characters. The best part of it is that he makes the building instructions for these MOCs available for everyone. You simply need to search through your collection of LEGO bricks to see if you have the parts needed to build your favorite heroes and villains. Since your working with a LEGO BrickHeadz, you can easily look for a substitute part if in case you don’t have the prescribed LEGO piece mentioned in assembling the build.

As of this posting, Charles offers three volumes on how to build his custom LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains all of which you can purchase via Amazon. You may click on the following links if you wish to know more about these books.

Building LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes – Volume One: The Unofficial Guide

Readers will find detailed, full-color illustrations and step-by-step instructions on how to build the following characters:

  • Ant-Man
  • Beast Boy
  • Daredevil
  • Deadpool
  • Green Lantern John Stewart
  • Gwenpool
  • Robin
  • Starfire
  • Thor
  • Wolverine
Building LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes – Volume Two: The Unofficial Guide

In this follow-up book, building instructions for the following characters are included:

  • Black Panther
  • Cyclops
  • The Flash
  • Green Lantern Kyle Rayner
  • The Invisible Woman
  • The Human Torch
  • Mister Fantastic
  • Raven
  • Shazam
  • The Thing
Building LEGO BrickHeadz Villains – Volume One: The Unofficial Guide

LEGO BrickHeadz Heroes and Villains

And of course, our ensemble of custom comic book LEGO BrickHeadz will not be complete without our heroes’ archenemies. This volume highlights 10 most famous villains and how to give them that LEGO BrickHeadz twist.

  • Deathstroke
  • Green Goblin
  • Harley Quinn
  • Loki
  • Mysterio
  • Red Skull
  • Rhino
  • Sandman
  • Two Face
  • Weather Wizard
