This LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Set Will Be There For You Soon

LEGO has released a teaser of its next LEGO Ideas set via social media.  As expected, this LEGO Ideas set will be based on the Central Perk Coffee Shop from the hit sitcom TV series F.R.I.E.N.D.S. This teaser for the LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S. set features the minifigure characters of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe as they hang out in front of the famous FRIENDS fountain seen in the opening sequence of the show.  You just got to love it how LEGO was able to render this in bricks.

This LEGO Ideas F.R.I.E.N.D.S. set was inspired by the original creation of  Aymeric Fievet (or Mric76 over at the LEGO Ideas platform) and was eventually chosen as the next LEGO Ideas set candidate during the Second 2018 Review Stage, alongside the now available  LEGO Ideas Steamboat Willie (21317)

I’m certain that LEGO will release several official images for this new LEGO Ideas set pretty soon, so be sure to stay tuned. You may follow us on social media – on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – for more LEGO news, updates and the latest happenings in the LEGO fan community.

LEGO Ideas Treehouse (21318) Teaser Trailer Released

After seeing the largest LEGO Ideas set to date being sold at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Texas, it looks like some LEGO employees were caught in another slip-up when the LEGO Ideas Treehouse (21318) was spotted being sold at the San Diego Comic-Con last week. Though LEGO promptly took action by removing the sets from their booth, a spokesman from the company disclosed that they were not that quick enough to prevent 5 to 10 fortunate SDCC attendees in making those highly coveted purchases. If you were looking forward to having this set but were not that lucky enough to catch these opportunities, then fret not since it might just be a matter of time before this set arrives in stores. In fact, LEGO has just released a fun and creative LEGO Ideas Treehouse (21318) teaser trailer that gives us a hint of what to expect from this set.

The LEGO Ideas Treehouse (21318) comes in at 3,036 pieces making it the largest LEGO Ideas set to be recently offered and is expected to retail for $200 USD. Staying true to its promise of promoting renewable materials in its building sets, LEGO has included tons of new LEGO plant and botanical pieces made from these sustainable materials. The video above also reveals some of the portions of the set, though you can have a better look at the set’s box art from our separate report.

The embargo for the LEGO Ideas Treehouse is expected to be lifted soon, with a VIP release date slated towards the end of this month and a general public release sometime in August. Be sure to keep tabs here at The Brick Show for the Treehouse’s official press release and images which will be out soon.

Check Out the Winners of the LEGO Ideas Iconically Stranger Things Building Contest

Along with the hype surrounding the third season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, and the subsequent release of the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810), the LEGO Ideas Team has announced a new building contest that challenges LEGO builders to come up with their best Stranger Things inspired original creation. The LEGO Ideas Iconically Stranger Things Building Contest ran from May 15 to June 19 and now, the winners are finally revealed.

The announcement was made over at the LEGO Ideas blog site, beginning with the Grand Prize winning entry, The Tunnels by builder MartiMovi.

the tunnels

This particular MOC takes its inspiration from the vast tunnel system that the inter-dimensional aliens created underground. Though compact in size, it perfectly captured the details of the pumpkin patch and the descent that the team made led by Dustin. The level of detail on these underground tunnels is spot-on including its dark and dank environment and creepy tentacles.  For added realism to this set, MartiMovi even added a minifigure scaled Demodog for good measure.

One of the first runner-up titles for the LEGO Ideas Iconically Stranger Things building contest was awarded to builder Ragaru for the ‘Demogorgon Figure‘. I have to admit right off the bat that this is one of the exceptionally mean-looking, and downright monstrous brick-built model of an already terrifying creature that I’ve ever seen.  Ragaru’s fluid and organic brick composition simply gave this poseable other-worldly creature a more horrifying presence. As much as I love this build, I have no qualms over the fact that it ended as a runner-up. This build is so horrific that I dread the idea of seeing this at the hands of a younger LEGO builder.

demogorgon

Finally, we have a rather simple looking, but definitely an advanced build from accomplished builder, saabfan. Entitled ‘The Gang on Bikes‘, this MOC may look simplistic at first, but taking a closer look reveals how he cleverly used few LEGO pieces to capture the important details of each Hawkins character. I’m always impressed by minibuilds such as this because scaling things down in LEGO form while remaining faithful to how the original subject looks like is surely an impressive feat.

Both the Grand Prize winner and Runner-Ups will receive the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810) set valued at $200 USD. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a $300 USD shopping spree at LEGO Shop@Home, while Runner Ups will get a $200 USD LEGO Shop@Home voucher. Congratulations to all the winners and cheers for more awesome builds to come!

LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) Spotted at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Texas

It looks like some folks are just plain lucky. After spotting the upcoming LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) at a Belgian toy store, it looks like this set has found its way in US shores. LEGO fan and AFOLs of Facebook member Michael Bradford shared video footage that shows this set and other forthcoming sets on store shelves of the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Grapevine, Texas.

As you can see from the images that he shared over social media, Michael bought the said set right off the shelf and has even posted his receipt as proof of purchase in case LEGO Men in Black cries foul for this early reveal. If you recall from my previous post, the LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) is expected to be officially released to the general public in August, with an early VIP release of sometime this month. Towards the end of Michael’s 12-second video, it can be noticed that the recently announced LEGO Creator Expert Harley-Davidson Fatboy (10269) is also on display and for sale beside the Tree House, given the fact that this next LEGO Creator Expert set is still due for an early VIP release on July 17.

The LEGO Ideas Tree House (21318) is expected to retail for $199.99 USD and comes in at 3,036 pieces utilizing a handful of new LEGO leaf elements made from renewable botanical sources. This new set is the next LEGO Ideas set to be made available to LEGO fans following the release of the LEGO Ideas Flintstones (21316) and Steamboat Willie (21317), both of which are now available both in-store and online. Keep your radars open for LEGO’s official press release and images of the LEGO Ideas Tree House which will be out soon.

Here’s A Sneek Peek at the LEGO Ideas Treehouse 21318

By now, the internet is rife with a handful of images of the next LEGO Ideas set to watch out for. If you recall back in October last year, the LEGO Ideas Treehouse 21318 project was approved for production together with the recent LEGO Ideas Flintstones (21316) set.

However, the former’s release date was pushed further to give way to another Ideas set which is the classic Steamboat Willie (21317)Now thanks to a certain reader and follower of the LEGO German fan site, Promobricks, we have our first look at what to expect from the impressively huge LEGO Ideas Treehouse 21318 set.

Here’s a Glimpse of Things to Come with the LEGO Ideas Treehouse 21318

Before we dive in, I guess a disclaimer is in order – according to Promobricks, these images were sent by a certain Roger from Belgium who claims to have bought this set at a Dreamland Toy Store in his country. So with that in mind, I guess all is fair game when it comes to sharing these box art images. So let’s take a look.

New Elements are Introduced in the LEGO Ideas Treehouse 21318

What impresses me about this set other than being in an almost minifig scale, is the vast array of new leaf elements that are available for the builder. I love how the leaves of the tree can be changed to reflect the seasons (autumn to be exact) using these new LEGO elements. The LEGO Ideas Treehouse 21318 also features a removable canopy and roof that reveals the intricate details of the tree’s various rooms. I’m sure that we’ll better appreciate this set once LEGO releases its official, hi-res images.
