DISCLAIMER: This is not in any way related to April Fool’s Day just in case you got overly concerned with my spoiler laden LEGO Marvel Superheroes The Death of Loki set. 😉
Now that April is officially in, LEGO is now geared up for another round of promotional freebies to sweeten your LEGO shopping. Its launching was not that all smooth given the fact that The LEGO Group temporarily suspended the release of this set last December. But thanks to the LEGO Store April Calendar, we’re now sure to expect the much-awaited LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod (5005376) polybag this month. This next LEGO Star Wars promotional gift with purchase set is slated to be given away from April 13 to May 3, with a corresponding LEGO Star Wars purchase of $60 and above.
With that out of the way, eBay reseller princess_789 gives us a first look on how this polybag promo will look like come April 13 in the US. Coming in at 36 pieces, the set comes, of course, with a LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader minifigure, together with gateway like arch with several nice printed pieces.
Promobricks also managed to share some images that show how the pod looks like from the outside. As mentioned in earlier articles, the pod seems to have a metallic outside casing probably because of its glossy effect and its lenticular printing.
The fact that this promotional is already in the secondary market is a likely indication that it is now available in US LEGO brand stores and is just awaiting the go signal for distribution. The LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod (5005376) polybag is also a great way to bag the minifig version of the iconic Sith Dark Lord. I really couldn’t figure that much from the polybag image, but it seems to me that this minifigure is a likely combination of two previous Darth Vader releases. For the helmet, the new minifig seems to borrow from 2016’s Vader’s TIE Advanced vs A-Wing Starfighter (75150), while the torso and leg prints seems to suggest a version of Vader from 2014’s Imperial Star Destroyer (75055). Whatever the case is, I’m quite positive that this will be one of the most sought after LEGO pods of all time. What do you think?
