Uniqlo LEGO 60th Anniversary Shirts Now Available

Last Month, Uniqlo has announced its renewed partnership with LEGO in coming up with a series of commemorative graphic tees in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick. Though this is not the first time that LEGO entered in such a partnership with Uniqlo, it is expected that this latest line of LEGO inspired shirts will be a sure hit among AFOLs for all its call back and references.

As it turned out, just a few days after Uniqlo updated its website to include this selection of LEGO anniversary themed shirts, it looks like stocks are starting to dwindle. As of this posting, Uniqlo’s site shows that stocks of some of these sought after shirts, particularly those for adults, are now becoming low. So if you haven’t purchased one yet, and would like to have a piece of LEGO’s anniversary celebrations with you, I suggest you head over to Uniqlo’s site and place your order now.

Here are some of my personal favorites, and hopefully to have one once our local Uniqlo store puts them on shelves.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 18 (71021) Box Distribution and Checklist

Now that the cat is out of the bag regarding the official reveal LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 18 (71021), it’s time to ask that ever nagging question: what are the odds of getting my faved minifigure from the series? As you all know by now, this 40th anniversary LEGO minifigure commemorative series comes with 17 minifigs to collect, and like other CMF series, knowing how much of each minifig inside the box will help you understand the odds of feeling your way through each of them.

A couple of days ago, The Brick Fan managed to grab hold of an entire Series 18 box and here’s what we know regarding how this minifigure series is distributed. For starters, each Series 18 box contain 61 blind bags – and if you find it odd why LEGO has arranged it as such, because they opted to throw in a sort of ‘chase’ figure within the batch. Before we go with the disctribution, here’s how the minifig checklist looks like.

CMF Series 18 checklist
Image courtesy of The Brick Fan.

Though the checklist highlights all of the 17 minifigures in this series, as expected, not all of them are distributed equally inside each box. LEGO even went as far this time of adding only ONE blind bag for a particular minifig. Check out the box distribution below.

5 in a box
  • LEGO Red Brick Suit Guy (#2)
  • LEGO Blue Brick Suit Girl (#3)
4 in a box
  • Elephant Suit Girl (#1)
  • Fireworks/Rocket Guy (#5)
  • Red Dragon Suit Guy (#7)
  • Spider Suit Guy (#9)
  • Birthday Cake Guy (#10)
  • Flowerpot Girl (#14)
  • Cowboy Suit Guy (#15)
  • Blue Unicorn Knight (#17)
3 in a box
  • Elephant Suit Girl (#1)
  • Party Clown (#4)
  • Birthday Party Girl (#7)
  • Cactus Girl (#11)
  • Cat Suit Girl (#12)
  • Race Car Guy (#13)
  • Birthday Party Boy (#16)

And finally, as you may have noticed already, the chase minifigure is the Classic Policeman minifigure which is only found once per box. Though younger LEGO fans will probably not mind the generic policeman minifig, older AFOLs sure understands the value of this classic little guy which is a re-release of the minifigure included in LEGO Classic Town Police Car (600-2) in 1978. Interestingly, 1978 also corresponds to the year when the first LEGO minifigures were introduced. So if you’re looking forward in collecting the entire Series 18 range, then you should be open to the possibility that grabbing the Classic Policeman in this series might be extremely difficult. The fact is, the only way to be assured of having the Classic Policeman, is if you will opt to buy the entire box set.

If you’re not the completionist type and is comfortable with the idea of having the rest of the Series 18 minifigs less the Classic Policeman, then you’ll be glad to know that you can come up with at least 3 sets of the other 16 minifigs to share with your friends, and with a couple of more to spare.

So what do you think about LEGO’s move of adding a sort of chase minifigure in this series? Are you OK with this? Share what you think in the comments below.

More Official Box Art Images Of LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Sets

Though much has been said already about this next wave of LEGO Jurassic World sets that has been revealed during last month’s New York Toy Fair, coupled with some official images and product descriptions, we still somehow missed on some of these set’s official box art images. Now that the cat’s out of the bag so to speak, we can now have a look at the rest of the box art images albeit not spoiler free at some point.

Thanks to Netherland-based LEGO retailer and fan site, Misterbricks, we now have our official box art images for the upcoming LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sets before their scheduled release in April or late May, and just in time before the film hits theaters in June. Take a look.

LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me (41597) Official Images Released

We first reported about this creatively new set at the New York Toy Fair last month, and this time we now have our first official images of the highly customizable, LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me (41597) courtesy of Bouwsteentjes.

This particular set is not your typical BrickHeadz because the idea behind this is that you can actually come with a mini-me version of yourself, made of course of LEGO bricks and pieces. Coming in at 708 pieces and plenty of minifigure accessories, the set promises a fun way of creating for yourself or a friend, their very own BrickHeadz version. It features a lot of interesting, new pieces, particularly that new eyeglasses piece. Check out these official images and see for yourself.

LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) May Be The Most Expensive LEGO Ideas Set That You’ll Buy

For most AFOLs, LEGO may have seemingly bombed at the New York Toy Fair in terms of the relatively disappointing reveals that they had over at their booth, but it doesn’t mean that LEGO news isn’t getting more and more exciting. Though LEGO has already announced or teased on the arrival of the LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy Lightcyle (21314) sometime next month, there is still one particular set that LEGO has completely placed under wraps for a considerable time now. Though it was quite disappointing not to see the much awaited LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set at the NYTF, it looks like we virtually have our piece of relevant information about this upcoming set.

4633439 Voltron Defender of the Univese

It only took two weeks before Lendy Tayag (who goes by len_d69 over at LEGO Ideas) to garner the necessary 10K votes in 2016 for his then LEGO Ideas Voltron project, but the journey of becoming an official LEGO set – from the LEGO Ideas Design Team and eventually on store shelves later on -took almost 2 years. I remember how excited I was upon hearing that this project was eventually announced as the next LEGO Ideas last August. However, the long wait seems to be harrowing, especially considering the fact that it was preceded by three other LEGO Ideas sets: the Women of NASA (21312), the Ship in a Bottle (21313) and TRON: Legacy Lightcycle (21314) – an indication that there were some significant road bumps along the way that delayed the release of LEGO Ideas Voltron. Some rumors suggest that it was because of licensing issues, while others hint on the technical refinements needed to make the set sturdier and more articulated. Needless to say, there was, at a certain point, a cloud of doubt whether the set will still see the light of day among LEGO stores.

LEGO Ideas Volron

However, a rumor is now circulating over LEGO forums that seem to suggest that the wait might be finally over. Reddit user IAMXX has disclosed that LEGO Store inventories have been updated (supposedly within the EU) to reflect a certain IDEAS set tagged as 21311 VOLTRON, with a price point of 179.99 Euros. That gives us a rough currency conversion of $199.99 USD, making it, if rumors are true, the most expensive LEGO Ideas set ever. If such is the case, setting aside additional cost for licensing fees, we can assume that this might also be the largest LEGO Ideas set with the most number of pieces as of to date. As of now, the title of being the largest Ideas set in terms of pieces belongs to the Old Fishing Store (21310), coming in at 2,049 pieces and retailing for $149.99 – significantly lower than the $200 price point that the LEGO Ideas Voltron is rumored to have.

Though I am aware that not all AFOLs are into Voltron, and not all will also find themselves picking up this set, I certainly feel that this next LEGO Ideas Voltron will be a sure winner and a certain hit among fans of the franchise. I for one has closely watched this set’s development since it first garnered the traction of being noticed as a LEGO Ideas Project. Now that it has been turned into an official LEGO set, the excitement of seeing this built is something that I will certainly not miss. I just hope that my wallet will not hate me for this.

Since we still have the launching of the LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy Lightcyle (21314) next month, we can have a good guess that LEGO might be saving Voltron for a San Diego Comic Con reveal sometime in July.

LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon 75192 Now Back At LEGO Shop@Home

Frankly, I decisively stopped paying attention to news related to the availability of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192), mainly out of frustration. Since its launch in September last year, the volatility of its online presence, and its rapid unavailability due to high market demand, makes it’s even more exasperating. Couple it with the absurd aftermarket sales such as those posted on eBay, and it will make you feel like throwing your bricks up into the air.

However, for the past several months, LEGO seems to have been making progress in re-stocking this once elusive (and undeniably largest) LEGO set. A few hours ago since the LEGO Shop@Home website was updated, it looks like the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) is now available again, with no signs of going out of stock as of this posting.

75192 available

If you still need to tick this out of your most wanted LEGO sets, and you have $800 to spare, then now is the time to get this ultimate LEGO set. Same as before, there is no guarantee until when the stocks of the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) will be relatively stable, so if you really need to purchase this set, now is the best time to do so.

UPDATE: LEGO Star Wars Han Solo Official Set Images Released

UPDATE: I’ve included official images of sets 75210, 75535, and 75536, courtesy of Bouwsteentjes. The Dutch LEGO fan site mentions that these images were found on Amazon, though I couldn’t determine what particular Amazon regional site.

We already saw some of these sets at this year’s New York Toy Fair, and we had a glimpse of their official product descriptions earlier last week. This time around, it looks like we have our first official images of the LEGO Star Wars Han Solo sets, plus a couple from the general Star Wars theme courtesy of Amazon France. It is should be noted that this is not the complete line-up since Amazon’s French website has not yet listed the LEGO Star Wars Moloch Landspeeder (75210), and the buildable figures of Han Solo (75535) and a Range Trooper (75536). I assume that this has something to do with Disney and Lucas Films plugging the leaks on some of the finer details of the Han Solo film, scheduled to be released in theaters on May 25. Well, truth be told, the images of these LEGO Star Wars Han Solo sets have been well distributed all over the internet for quite some time now, and such damage control from the part of these entertainment giants now seem to be just an afterthought.

We do not have any price points yet in USD, and as it turns out as of this posting, Amazon France has listed these sets as temporarily out of stock. So we just have to probably wait until April to see more of these. For the meantime, check out these official images. A hat tip to The Brick Fan for sharing this info.

LEGO Minifigure Factory (5005358) April Promotional Pays Tribute to the 40th Anniversary of the LEGO Minifig

The LEGO Store April Calendar is now available, and it highlights two LEGO Store promotionals that fans will be eager to have. Other than the availability of the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod (5005376) now set in to stone, we now have another April promotional which pays tribute to the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Minifigure. Other than the much awaited LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 18 that commemorates the anniversary of the iconic minifig, next month will also feature the LEGO Minifigure Factory (5005358). This next gift with purchase (GWP) set comes in at 86 pieces and will be available from April 1 to 15 or until supplies last for a minimum single receipt purchase of any LEGO products worth $75 and above.

minifig factory 7981 APR18 CAL medres Page 1

Based on the above image from the LEGO Store April Calendar, the LEGO Minifigure Factory features a conveyor type build including several nanofigs based on characters from the Classic Space sets, a police officer, and one that looks like to be from Ninjago. It also includes a minifigure wearing a yellow shirt which I suppose portrays the operator of this conveyor build. It also has a red cart, supposedly for the minifigure operator in transporting the nanofigs. Italian LEGO fan site Mattonito also gave us another glimpse of this promotional set which confirms the idea that LEGO Minifigure Factory will also make use of its cardboard packaging for its background art and deco, similar to its other promotionals such as the LEGO Seasonal Easter Bunny minifigure (5002249). The latter GWP will be offered this March from the 16th to 31st.

minifig fact Promozioni LEGO Store Italia Marzo Aprile 2018 4

On a personal note, I wish LEGO could have thrown in some additional pieces to recreate the background in a typical vignette fashion. It has a lot of potential (and unique nanofigures) to be a nice collectible set similar in scale to those of LEGO’s seasonal ones. All in all, the concept behind this set is nice, but I hope LEGO could have offered more.

LEGO Store April 2018 Calendar Reveals (Plus the Return of the LEGO Darth Vader Pod)

The month of March has started, and what does it mean in LEGO-world? Why, that means their store calendar for April is now available for viewing for their loyal consumers. Now LEGO fans can plan on what April release to purchase, what offer to pick, and what events to attend.

From March’s LEGO Ninjago: Spinjitzu Masters banner, April is going all-out for spring with the bright cheeriness of LEGO Friends. And yes, they’ve got plenty of heart to give around. The Friendship House (41340) in the background is a reminder of this year’s new products, including a bunch of LEGO Friends pods release.

April 3-4: VIP Monthly Mini Model Build. This month: Frog.

Vader Pod 7981 APR18 CAL medres Page 1

April 16: Minifigure Swap Monday (for ages 6-14 only)

April 21 & 28: LEGO Life Meeting dates. Meet new LEGO-building friends and test your own skills.

April 23 – June 24: Kessel Run Adventure. Team up with a “co-pilot” and build your own spaceship to challenge the famous “Kessel Run” space route. Check the LEGO Life app for details.

This is a pretty important month to be sure, as April’s going to be the starting period for when the first significant wave of previewed 2018 LEGO sets will start coming to stores. There will be plenty surprises to look out for, to be sure. For further details, follow up on stores.LEGO.com for when the digital version of the calendar will be made available.
