Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212) Built by Chewbacca on Latest “Star Wars Show” Web Video Skit

Just when we were ready to proclaim the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon model (75192) as the pinnacle of LEGO creating a model of the famous space freighter, we got introduced to the Kessel Run version (75212); while not a UCS set, you can’t say no to the “newness”.

Really, at times it feels like the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212) comes across as the better model in part because there’s enough of a difference to it compared to the “worn-down” ship as seen in the original trilogy. One Star Wars character’s actually a fan of it: Chewbacca himself.

At least that’s how this little skit from The Star Wars Show plays out. Chewie returns “home” to the online show’s Lucasfilm HQ set with a box of the Kessel Run Falcon (75212). He assembles it, with difficulty. Hilarity ensues. It starts at around 1:33 at the video down below.

This latest episode of The Star Wars Show features an interview with director Ron Howard about Solo: A Star Wars Story, and shout-outs to both a new Solo featurette with cast interviews and news about the new and upcoming anime-style TV series Star Wars: Resistance.

The latest LEGO happening with the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212) is that it’s still available at The LEGO Store and shop.LEGO.com, as according to the LEGO Star Wars-themed May promotional calendar. The “Kessel Run Adventure” is still up on the LEGO Life app, from April 23 to June 24.

While the LEGO Star Wars rendition of the then-new Falcon is totally impressive, we also invite fans to check out the actual ship in action, when Solo: A Star Wars Story arrives in cinemas later this month, on May 25.

Black Panther Takes on Thanos Again in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trouble in Wakanda

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trouble in Wakanda is next LEGO animated special to watch out for.

It’s almost a week ever since Avengers: Infinity War arrived in cinemas last April, and plenty perhaps are still smarting over the developments. Spoilers ahead, but surely the loss of Wakanda’s King T’Challa, the Black Panther, weighs heavily on fans who watched his movie just this February. It’s so unfair.

Check Out the New LEGO Marvel Animated Short, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trouble in Wakanda!

Well, until we get to see the resolution to Thanos’ victory next year on Avengers 4, we might settle for this little offering by LEGO to promote their Avengers: Infinity War tie-in sets and merchandise. It’s called LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trouble in Wakanda, an animated special on Marvel HQ.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trouble in Wakanda

As the subtitle pretty much spells out, this series of animated shorts will star possibly the coolest Marvel hero on film today, Black Panther. The Mad Titan Thanos is again stirring some bad juju over Wakanda, and T’Challa means to get to the bottom of it.

Leading his hometown allies, and with outside help from the Avengers, the Black Panther aims to scratch up and beat down anybody who messes with his beloved kingdom. Whether they be Klaue the mercenary, Killmonger the usurper, or Thanos himself. We can rest assured the LEGO special is pure action-comedy.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Trouble in Wakanda, brought to us by Marvel and Pure Imagination Studios,  will run five episodes long on Marvel’s official YouTube channel, Marvel HQ, starting May 11. Eventually, the five LEGO Marvel episodes will be compiled into a special premiering on June 3 on Disney XD. Wakanda Forever!

LEGO and Amazon Team Up for Interactive Educational Play with LEGO Duplo Stories

Just when we thought that LEGO has pushed the envelope in developing new educational approaches for their products, especially the ones most geared towards young children, they manage to surprise us again. Their latest partnership with none other than Amazon promises some new educational experiences through the Alexa smart speaker.

This week, LEGO has just introduced the LEGO Duplo Stories, a new skill for Amazon’s Alexa voice service that enables any Amazon Echo or Echo Dot device to tell interactive stories involving a range of sets on the early-age Duplo educational products. Duplo Stories has Alexa narrate adventures that toddlers could act out using corresponding Duplo sets.

For the moment, there are 10 individual Duplo Stories that can be installed on an Alexa speaker as an additional skill. Five involve Duplo animal sets; others, for vehicles. Once the skill is installed, a command like “Alexa, open LEGO Duplo Stories” starts voice prompts to select a particular tale.

While the children follow along the story with their LEGO Duplo sets, Alexa also gives them fun tasks and activities related to the tale, which builds up their cognitive and social skills, role playing, motor abilities and concepts like language and colors. This creative play approach puts fun in learning.

James Poulter, head of emerging platforms and partnerships for Lego, notes that not only the children but their parents and older minders can share the enjoyment of the combined physical play and interactive audio for a shared learning experience. LEGO Duplo Stories is now available for adding to Amazon Alexa on the US and UK.

LEGO Teases on New Ant-Man & The Wasp Sets Scheduled for Release on June 1

UPDATE: It looks like we already have our first LEGO Marvel Superheroes Ant-Man and The Wasp set reveal. Check Brian’s video about the Quantum Realm Explorers (76109) at the end of this article.

A tiny piece of news in minuscule proportions has just been dropped by LEGO over its social media channels. LEGO has just teased on some LEGO Marvel Superheroes Ant-Man and The Wasp sets to be released starting this June 1st. The announcement came in via LEGO’s official Facebook and Twitter pages.

https://twitter.com/LEGO_Group/status/991682267654311936

There is nothing new in particular with regards to the teaser, except for what could be our first look at The Wasp minifigure. The only criticism that I have about the Ant-Man minifig featured in the teaser is that it is a bit far off from how it looks like from the official trailer. Anyways, rumor has it that the soon-to-be announced set will be coming in at 200 pieces and will also include nanofigures of our heroes. One set will also feature the film’s villain which is the Ghost and a vehicle that looks like a minisub and fly hybrid.

In any case, we’re just less than a month away from the sets official release so we can expect for more info and set images to be out soon.

WATCH: Netflix’s ‘The Toys That Made Us’ Promo Clip Featuring LEGO

Earlier this year, we reported that one of Netflix’s documentaries, The Toys That Made Us, will feature one of our culture’s most loved toys and popular icon – the LEGO brick. The first four episodes were released already on the streaming giant’s platform with Star Wars, Barbie, He-Man, and G.I. Joe comprising the first wave of episodes. Now that the second wave of TMU’s docu-series were announced for a May 25 release, a particular promo clip has been released by Nerdist that features what most of us has been waiting for. This particular promo clip puts the spotlight on that period of history where we as kids,  once dreamed of reaching the stars, and relived the grandeur and chivalry of knights and wizards. Watch the clip below.

The promo clip begins with a visit back to the acclaimed LEGO vault archives to see two particular sets that forever sealed LEGO’s footprint across the toy industry: 1973’s LEGO Space Command Center (493) and 1978’s LEGO Castle (375). There is much to talk about as far the history and influence of LEGO as a toy brand around the world, so this is one particular episode that I’m looking forward to. Toys That Made Us Season 2 will be available in Netflix starting May 25, and will feature toy brands such as LEGO, Transformers, Hello Kitty, and Star Trek –the first two being the most influential toys that made up a significant part of my childhood.

LEGO Ideas Invites You To Create the Next FIRST LEGO League World Festival Trophy

Earlier this year, LEGO Ideas launched two particular contests where LEGO fans can submit their original creations with the hope of being selected as the platform’s  official logo, and the next gift-with-purchase set following a classic space theme. Both competitions were warmly welcomed by the LEGO community, with the latter hitting a bit of a snag regarding the originality of its submitted project.

This time around, it looks like the LEGO Ideas Team intends to continually tap the vast resources and ideas of the LEGO fan community, particularly with its next competition that is expected to gather a following. The LEGO Ideas Design the Next FIRST LEGO League World Festival Trophy is currently on its Submission Phase throughout this month of May. The winning build which will be selected during the Judging Phase from May 31 to June 5 will be used as a basis for the trophy to be awarded to FLL winners. In a nutshell, this is how to join the contest:

Build your coolest, most display worthy LEGO trophy using LEGO pieces (no DUPLO elements). Submissions may be in either physical bricks or by using a digital building tool such as LEGO Digital Designer.

Take up to five photos of your creation and submit them to the contest. Make sure to show off your model from all angles and any particular features or functions of your trophy.

Add a title and short description.

Upload your entry to the contest using the blue Submit Your Entry button found on the contest’s web page.
