LEGO Star Wars Rebels A-Wing Pilot 5004408 Minifigure Reappears In The Philippines – and Much More!

News has been quite slow recently, but a trip to our local LEGO Certified Store here in the Philippines (one of the two in fact) was about to change all of that. OK, I know it may sound a bit exaggerated but the nerdist AFOL in me couldn’t pass this one out. If you remember a couple of months ago, we featured one of the most recent LEGO Star Wars minifigure promotional that is levelling up in terms of popularity. A quick browse over at Bricklink hints on the idea that the LEGO Star Wars Rebels A-Wing Pilot (5004408) polybag is slowly gaining a following, and the said minifig from the Star Wars Rebels theme is becoming a desired collectible.

5004408-1a-wing rebel pilot

So imagine my excitement when I saw this ad posted at the counter of our local LEGO Certified Store in Bonifacio Global City, Manila. The store’s staff was also kind enough to let me hold and snap a photo of the actual Star Wars Rebels A-Wing Pilot polybag. Pardon me for the poor image, it seems that my phone’s camera doesn’t stand a chance against the warm glow of the LEGO Store.

img_20161015_103437 img_20161015_103452img_20161015_102651

The good thing is that the store’s Facebook page has posted the complete promotional regarding this. Here’s a better copy.

ph_lego-star-wars-rebels-a-wing-pilot-minifig

As mentioned in the store’s ad, the exclusive LEGO Star Wars Rebels A-Wing Pilot (5004408) polybag comes free for every minimum, single receipt purchase of Php 3,499 (roughy equivalent to $70) of any LEGO products. You may have noticed the slightly higher price point as compared to last June’s LEGO Brand Stores promotional in the US that ran only for two days from June 4 to 5. However, if you noticed in the ad, it mentions TWO free minifigs per customer for the said qualifying purchase, PLUS the fact that the Star Wars Rebel A-Wing Pilot promotional in the Philippines runs on a longer period which is roughly two weeks until supplies last. I’ve confirmed this with the store’s staff, and the promo is perfectly legit. It is a freebie that is too tempting to pass and I have until the end of the month to cross my fingers.

Just a side note: it was also a great day visiting the LEGO Store in BGC since we’re just in time for their LEGO Mosaic Building Workshop, where kids ages 7 to 14 were taught on how to come up with their own brick-built mosaics of the Caped Crusader’s logo. I have to be honest, I never thought LEGO mosaic building can be a very daunting task! It seems like a walk in the park when Jason did his Deadpool, Bane, and Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum mosaics out of LEGO bricks, but it was absolutely fun nevertheless.

img_20161015_101614 img_20161015_101948 img_20161015_102011 img_20161015_101630

It was also a perfect time to visit the store because other than the A-Wing Pilot minifig, they’re also having a make-and-take-home promotional were children ages 4-14 can have a FREE LEGO Creator Tiger (30285) that comes with any LEGO purchase. They’re also having the usual Monthly Mini Build promotional, and for the month of October they’re giving  away for FREE a LEGO Creator School Bus (40216). Unlike in LEGO Brand Stores in the US and other parts of Europe where you need to pre-register using your LEGO ID, the LEGO Certified Stores both in BGC and Alabang Town Center in the Philippines does not require any preregistration as you can see from their ad below.

img_20161015_102624 30285-1 40216-1lego-bgc-store-mmb-school-bus-40216 img_20161015_102613

The store is also pretty much updated with regards to the most recent releases such as the LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets, LEGO City Volcano Explorers, LEGO Mixels Series 9, and the Disney and Series 16 Collectible Minifigures. I’m proud to say that after an hour of feeling my way through countless blind bags, I finally landed on my much-awaited LEGO Disney Stitch minifig! They also have on display several hard-to-find LEGO Creator sets such as the Fairground Mixer (10244), Brick Bank (10251), and the Detective’s Office (10246). There’s also a couple of seasonal themed sets available just in time for Halloween and Christmas, such as the Trick or Treat Halloween Set (40122),  Halloween Bat (40090), Santa’s Visit (40125), and Snowman (40093).

He finally landed on my desk – welcome home Stitch!

So if you happen to be in the Philippines, or you and the family is planning to visit the country for a vacation, especially that the holiday season is just around the corner be sure to check out our very own LEGO Certified Stores in BGC and ATC. Just head over to their Facebook page for more info, or simply pay a visit to the store and approach  their friendly and accommodating store staff.

Special shout out and thanks to Keno and Brian for patiently bearing with my questions and nerdy excitement.

Here’s A Closer Look At the LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar 40222.

Earlier this month, we have learned that LEGO is in an early gift-giving spirit with the announcement of its next promotional available from October 1 to 25. The LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar 40222 is now available for FREE with purchases of $99 and more at any LEGO Brand Store and shop.LEGO.com until supplies last. Unlike the rest of this year’s Advent Calendars that are focused on Star Wars, City, and Friends themes, the Holiday Countdown Calendar focuses on more Christmas themed miniature builds and comes at a lower price point of $19.99. However, the 40222 is described as a 250-piece ‘build-and-rebuild’ set which means that unlike the Advent Calendars, you may probably not be able to assemble all the 24 suggested builds simultaneously.

40222_alt1

Adorably cute and tiny as they are, LEGO’s database was recently updated to include several high-resolution images of the 40222 that gives us a closer look at some of its 24 suggested builds. Check out these images right after the Holiday Countdown Calendar’s official description.

40222-1

As of this writing, the LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar still appears in the My Bag section of shop.LEGO.com once your purchase reaches $99. It doesn’t appear to be listed for purchase though, since it doesn’t show up using the site’s search function. However, its retail value appears once you click on it through My Bag.

Nevertheless, it is still a promotional that is expected to run out quickly as we enter the holiday seasons, so better get a move on if you wish to have this one-of-a-kind seasonal set.

LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar 40222 Now Available!

Every year, LEGO is fond of releasing its advent calendar series that offers a bit of a LEGO surprise for each day of December up until Christmas Eve. Traditionally, LEGO offers three advent calendars under its most active themes, namely Star Wars (75146) retailing at $39.99, and City (60133) and Friends (41131) themed calendars both retailing at $29.99 each.

This time, LEGO seems to be in an early Christmas spirit with its latest addition to the advent calendar series – and this time, they’re giving it away for FREE! The LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar 40222 is this month’s promotional set that comes free with purchases of $99 and above starting October 1 until 25 or until supplies last. It comes in 250 pieces that you can use to build and rebuild the 24 individual creations that go along with the calendar.

LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar 40222

Like any other previous promotional, you can expect that the Holiday Countdown Calendar will be another hit and given that October is the start of the early Christmas shopping rush, it might disappear quickly. However, there might also be the possibility of having the 40222 available for separate purchase since shop.LEGO.com lists the set with a retail price of $19.99. There is no option of purchasing it separately as of this writing. Nevertheless, placing your orders for this month of October is a sure advantage since Double VIP points are up for the entire month.

LEGO’s October Deals Are Now Up!

October is here and for most of us, this means that our Christmas wish list is starting to take shape – or longer for that matter. That’s why starting this month, LEGO has prepped its own list of holiday gift suggestions starting with several new sets for LEGO fans of all ages. It gets better if you’re a VIP member because the whole month of October allows you to earn Double VIP points, PLUS you’ll get a free LEGO Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) once your purchase reaches $99 and above. This free exclusive is available from October 1-25 or while supplies last.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at what LEGO has to offer starting this month. First off, we have the LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254) for that added yuletide fun around the Christmas tree. With a full circle track and an optional LEGO Power Function motor, you can animate it to give more life to that little Christmas corner in your home.

Up next, legion of LEGO Star Wars fans gets another shot of owning the iconic Imperial superweapon with the rehashed LEGO Star Wars Death Star (75159). Though the said UCS wasn’t welcomed with a red carpet and rave reviews, it gradually climbed its way towards the must-have list of LEGO Star Wars collectors, particularly to those who missed out on the 2008 LEGO Star War Death Star (10188). The upcoming Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One, may also have been instrumental on the renewed interest in the brick-built planetary weapon. If you’re planning to invest in this latest LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series, you may want to check out first Stephen’s review below.

75159_box1_v39 75159-1

Similarly, LEGO has launched eight new sets to celebrate the latest Star Wars film. Debuting to the general public during last week’s Force Friday, the LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets consists of five new vehicles and three buildable figures. Though the launch of these sets are not without some issues, particularly via shop.LEGO.com, they were welcomed positively by the LEGO community. They are now available at LEGO Brand Stores and online to make a perfect holiday gift for any Padawan or Jedi at heart. You may want to check out our reviews over at YouTube to see the various play features of these sets.

For the sporty gear head in the family, you may want to pick up the newest LEGO Ideas Caterham Seven 620R (21307) that highlight the venerable British sports car. This fan-submitted LEGO Ideas project is truly spot-on, with all the details and decals similar to that of the legendary speedster. It is now available at shop.LEGO.com retailing at $79.99.

Though it started well in 2014, it’s eventually a curtain call for the crazy and wacky bunch of the LEGO Mixels after Cartoon Network announced that the said collaboration with LEGO will finally come to an end next year. Airing its final episode last month over at Cartoon Network, LEGO has now released the presumably last series of its themed tribe characters, showcasing the Trashoz, Nindjas, and Newzers. We don’t know until when this zany bunch of Series 9 characters will still be up until they are retired, and we sincerely hope that LEGO has a grand plan under its sleeve to somehow ease the disappointment of some kids and fans that will be missing these mixing and murphing bunch of oddities.

Finally, LEGO’s latest offering in its toys-to-life theme is now available. LEGO Dimensions Series 2, also known as Wave 6, is now up at all LEGO Brand Stores and online. Featuring a bigger, and wider selection coming from all 16 licenses and names, we can expect plenty of new characters to enter the LEGO Dimensions portal anytime soon. How about you, what’s in your LEGO wish list this Christmas?

Force Friday’s LEGO Star Wars Darth Revan Mishap is Quite Discouraging.

We’re still a couple of hours away before this year’s Force Friday is officially over, yet it seems that it’s a wrap up already for some of LEGO’s promotional offers. After the announcement of the LEGO Star Wars Darth Revan minifigure promotional, most of us were excited, with raised hopes of having this exclusive minifig which was last offered back in 2014. We reported earlier that this hard-to-find minifig will be available for FREE for any purchase of LEGO Star Wars product. The catch? It is only offered for a day, which is, as we know, during Force Friday.

5002123_alt1 5002123_main

However, things didn’t turn out well for those who opted to wait patiently via shop.LEGO.com. Aesthetically good as it may seem, the revamped LEGO website seemed to have issues that caused a lot of heartaches for those who were looking forward to add this elusive minifig to their collection. As it turned out, the Darth Revan minifigure is no longer available and may have run out already. A quick browse over at shop.LEGO.com now reveals that the said minifigure is no longer attached as a promotional, but instead for some regions, it is the LEGO Nexo Knights Ultimate Lavaria 70335 or the LEGO Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper 30602 (if you’re in the UK), that keeps on popping up as shared by some of our Facebook visitors.

This turned out to be a huge disappointment especially for those who were waiting to purchase online the latest LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets. Several fans lamented on the fact that the said sets were not yet available for purchase via shop.LEGO.com, with only a frustrating ‘Coming Soon’ remark appearing for the first 4 to 6 hours after Force Friday officially kicked in. Unfortunately, when the LEGO Rogue One sets were finally made available for online purchase, it seems that the Darth Revan minifig has already run out which really turned off most LEGO Star Wars fans and collectors. To be fair to LEGO, they always have this disclaimer that this exclusive promotional is available only while supplies last. They will always add it in the fine print as you can see below. But technical glitches such as these do not level the playing field so to speak. We’re not sure as of the moment if this is an inventory oversight on LEGO’s part or just a technical issue with the website, but one thing is for sure: most devoted LEGO Star Wars fans were not happy.

i4vfxk8

In any case, those who still opted make their purchase online are still treated with Double VIP points in the US, and even Triple VIP points in the UK and some parts of Europe.

Here’s a Look At LEGO’s Force Friday Deals.

We’re a few hours away from the launch of this year’s Star Wars Force Friday, and The LEGO Group has definitely something in store for all the Star Wars faithful. Let’s take a look at some exclusives that LEGO has cued in for release tomorrow.

The LEGO Star Wars UCS Death Star 75159 and Escape the Space Slug Set.

75159_box1_v39 mayfourth-1

LEGO VIP members who missed out on the first brick-built iteration of the planetary weapon, now has the chance of owning this piece of Star Wars icon with the LEGO Star Wars UCS Death Star 75159. Though much has been said (or ranted) about this rehash of the older UCS Death Star 10188, there is still some considerable hype and expectation for this set once it is made available to the general public on Friday.

75159_front_01_correct

Thankfully, Stephen has given us an early review of the 75159 through the video below.

Another set to look forward to is the exclusive (and should I say elusive) promotional LEGO Star Wars Escape the Space Slug set. As we have noted earlier, the highly prized set comes as a prize for winning VIP winners who have either purchased the LEGO Star Wars UCS Death Star 75159 from September 15-30, or those who have registered via email. You still have a chance to earn a raffle entry for the set’s sweepstakes which will end on September 30 at 11:59 EST. This time, there’s only a total of 120 LEGO Escape the Space Slug sets to be raffled throughout the US and Canada so you can just imagine how valuable this set will be later on.

lego-starwars-spaceslug-display

The LEGO Star Wars Darth Revan and First Order General Minifigures

5002123_alt1 5002123_main

For those of you have missed on the promotional LEGO Star Wars Darth Revan minifigure back in 2014, now is the best time to have it for FREE! You must be quick though, since this time, the minifig will only be offered for a day together with a purchase of any LEGO Star Wars sets during Force Friday. It seems that there are no other conditions attached to this promotional other than the fact that it comes for free with a LEGO Star Wars purchase AND it is only offered for one day. If Force Friday is not a good enough reason to invest in some LEGO Star Wars sets, then probably throwing in a LEGO Darth Revan minifig for free will definitely sweeten the deal.

5004406-1

Other than free posters and shirts that celebrate Force Friday, Toys R Us stores across the US will be giving away a FREE LEGO Star Wars First Order General minifigure for any qualifying LEGO Star Wars purchase of $30 and above. However, unlike the Darth Revan minifig, the First Order General may also be purchased as a polybag for $4.99 and will be available as supplies last. Again, thankfully, Stephen gives us a first look of the Episode VII character through his review below.

LEGO Star Wars Rogue One Sets

lego-star-wars-2016-rogue-one-sets-1

Of course, do we need to say more about this? It’s an all-out frenzy once the latest addition to the LEGO Star Wars theme hits shelves on Force Friday. With five sets and three buildable figures based on the highly anticipated Star Wars Rogue One film, LEGO and Star Wars fans have been waiting patiently for these sets to be unveiled. Plus, with the freebies and double VIP points that you can get for any qualifying LEGO Star Wars purchase, this is one Force Friday that you will surely don’t want to miss. Here’s Stephen once again with reviews on two of LEGO Star Wars Rogue One sets – Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle (75156) and K-2SO Buildable Figure (75120).

So what do you think of LEGO’s offers on this year’s Force Friday? Share us your thoughts in the comments below or head over at our Facebook page to join in the discussions.

First Hand Look at the LEGO Star Wars Rogue One Rebel U-Wing Fighter (75155) Spotted in Target!

When Stephen went to his local toy store for his usual ‘patrol duty’ for awesome LEGO sets and choice finds, something unexpectedly cool happened. Displayed at Sawgrass Mills Target Store in Sunrise, Florida is an actual LEGO set dedicated to the newest transport to hit the roster of starships that will debut in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Stephen had the chance to snap a 2-minute video of the LEGO Star Wars Rebel U-Wing Fighter (75155) that was prominently displayed like a centerpiece, together with other LEGO sets offered at the said store. The same is also listed in Target’s online store. There were no sets of the Rebel U-Wing that were placed on Target’s shelves just yet, but we’re pretty sure that they all have them ready at the back just waiting for the official release on September 30 in time for Force Friday. Take a look.

The actual set is better and larger than we have expected, coming in at 659 pieces and retailing for $79.99. According to shop.LEGO.com, the Rebel U-Wing Fighter (75155) measures in at 3” in height, 17” in length, and 7” wide with its wings closed and 25” when opened. That is a relatively large set given its modest piece count. The set also features five minifigs including Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, a Rebel Trooper, a U-Wing Pilot and show-stealer Bistan.  The cockpit itself allows a minifig to be boarded in it while the rest of the rebel team can be placed inside the transporter below the ship.

As seen from Rogue One’s trailer, the Rebel U-Wing is more like a troop transport kind of dropship rather than a star fighter like what Jason has pointed out To showcase some of the features of this set, LEGO has came up with a product animation for the LEGO Star Wars Rebel U-Wing Fighter (75155) as you can see below.
