WATCH: Latest LEGO Disney Frozen Northern Lights Trailer.

Disney has just released its official trailer for its next series of animated shorts, LEGO Disney Frozen Northern Lights. As mentioned by the Hollywood Reporter back in June, as a spin-off from Disney’s wildly popular 2013 film, Frozen, the animated short is based on a deluxe novelization that Random House published back in July ahead of an extended collection of books. The storyline is then given the LEGO treatment and retold into four animated shorts featuring the original characters and voice cast from the movie:  Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), and Josh Gad (Olaf). A new character, Little Rock, will also be introduced.

Here’s the official synopsis of LEGO Disney’s Frozen Northern Lights courtesy of Random House, followed by its official trailer.

Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and their friends from Disney Frozen are helping Little Rock the troll earn his tracking crystal. Join them as they embark on a mountain adventure under the Northern Lights!

2017 LEGO Disney Sets Sport a New Box Art Design, LEGO Disney Moana’s Island Adventure 41149 Revealed.

Ahead of Disney Moana’s release this week on November 23, LEGO has revealed its next Polynesian inspired set along the previously unveiled LEGO Disney Moana’s Ocean Voyage (41150). Moana’s Island Adventure (41149) features Moana in a slightly different minidoll version which fits well in a provincial island setting, and a first look at the adorable pig Pau in its minifigure version. Additionally, what is interesting to note is that the box art of these latest LEGO Disney sets uses a neutral teal color as the Brick Fan noted. My guess is that LEGO would like to do away with the pink color scheme for its Disney sets, which has been criticized before for being gender biased. What do you think?

Another LEGO Batman Movie Polybag – The Joker Battle Training 30523 – Spotted!

It seems that we will not get just one, but two polybags under the LEGO Batman Movie theme. In our previous post (which LEGO asked us to take down), we know that the Caped Crusader will have his very own polybag in Batman in the Phantom Zone (30522) and this time around, his arch-nemesis will also be receiving the same LEGO treatment. Thanks to Flickr user ParkerLegoMaster, we now have a sneak peek at this exclusive polybag featuring none other than the Joker himself in The Joker Battle Training (30523).

New Lego Batman Movie polybag!

I love the way LEGO exaggerates certain aspects of their film characters, and Joker here is not an exception. Joker’s 6-barrel gun is ridiculously large for his size, in fact, I’m not quite sure if the minifig will hold up. However, it does the job of highlighting one aspect of Joker’s personality: he really wants to get the attention of Batman any way he can. As a bonus, the set also seems to include Batman’s cowl supposedly as a part of Joker’s target practice dummy, including a bat-shaped element. My thoughts: LEGO really did a good job on this polybag set, and together with the Batman in the Phantom Zone (30522), these are great ways to have their minifigures if you are aiming to collect them.

We do not have any information yet with regards to where ParkerLegoMaster got this photo, and if ever LEGO will ask us again to remove this, we will certainly comply. As of now, and while this photo is up, you may want to share your thoughts in the comments below or join us in the discussion over on Facebook.

Thanks to Minifigure Price Guide for the heads up.

LOOK: New The LEGO Batman Movie Official Images!

It’s all ‘black and yellow’ as LEGO reveals its latest official images for The LEGO Batman Movie sets including their impressive box arts, courtesy of Brick Heroes.  This is a very much welcomed reveal, especially with the confirmation of the Caped Crusader’s much awaited villains in their minifig forms: Kiteman, Calendarman, Magpie, Zebraman, and Tarantula. We now know how Killer Croc looks like in his new bigfig figure which is more impressive and detailed than his first one in Killer Croc: Sewer Smash (76055). I’m a little disappointed with how Clayface turned out in Clayface Splat Attack (70904) since I imagined his brick-built version to be more similar to his theatrical version as teased on the movie’s poster. But overall, the sets and their corresponding box arts are totally worth the keeps. We still have two sets waiting to be officially revealed, namely Scarecrow’s Special Delivery (70910) and Penguin’s Limo (70911), though several pictures of the former as seen from the box art, has been making its rounds over forums and fan sites. Thanks also to the Brick Fan for pointing this out.

This Is What We Know So Far About All The LEGO Batman Movie Sets That We’re Revealed.

February seems to be a long wait before our brick-built, black and yellow superhero returns to the big screen. Fan hype is steadily building around the upcoming LEGO Batman Movie, together with the impressive sets that have been revealed alongside the film. So before we swoon over at almost 20 sets and CMF series to be released under this theme, lets pause for a while and look back at what has been revealed so far, and what we can expect further from LEGO before the LEGO Batman Movie comes full swing in February next year.

There has been seven sets, and a polybag that was revealed so far, with the latter not been officially announced yet.

As of to date, there are still around 13 sets waiting to be revealed, plus a LEGO Batman Movie CMF series that is rumored to include several DC characters (both heroes and villains) since the classic days of Batman that were alluded in the film. Director Chris McKay made it clear that Warner Bros’ brick-built film will feature a lot of Easter eggs that will showcase almost all key characters from the Batman comicverse.

lego-batman-movie-06

We are also getting a brick-built version of Clayface in Clayface Splat Attack (70904) and it is interesting to note that Brickset has tagged it as a ‘brick-built figure’. Though we don’t have any official images at this point, it is pretty safe to assume that Clayface may look similar to his theatrical version as seen below. We are also getting a bigfig version of the Killer Croc and it seems that he comes in a different color scheme and print as compared from how he looks like in Batman: Killer Croc Sewer Smash (76055).

lbm-brickfilm_contest

It also seems that it is not just Will Arnett’s Dark Knight, who is getting a lot of battle ready vehicles, but also some of his rogue villains. We already saw the Joker’s Notorious Lowrider (70906) and Penguin’s ‘Duck and Cover’ ride as seen in the Batcave Break-In (70909) set.  Other villains (and villainess) are also getting their own hot wheels such as Catwoman in the Catwoman Catcycle Chase (70902), the Riddler in The Riddler Riddle Racer (70903) and the posh Penguin’s Limo (70911).

There is also a polybag set that was revealed quite prematurely a few weeks back with the Batman in the Phantom Zone (30522). It features Batman in his new black and yellow minifigure form together with a robot-like contraption. As per request of LEGO, we’ve removed any reference to the said image, assuming that the polybag may have something to do with an important plot in the film. We do not have any information yet on how devoted LEGO Batman fans may obtain this polybag. We expect that this will be a hot item since this is definitely one of the cheapest ways of obtaining your own LEGO Batman minifigure.

This is so far what we know regarding the LEGO Batman Movie sets and we’ll keep you posted for other news and updates regarding this next LEGO movie hit. The LEGO Batman Movie will land on theaters worldwide starting February 10, 2017.

A Closer Look At Moana, Maui, and Hei Hei In LEGO Disney Moana on the High Seas 41150

It almost came out of nowhere when we first saw its image on LEGO’s December Store Calendar. Just in time before Disney’s Moana hit theaters this month, LEGO has finally revealed its next Disney-inspired set with LEGO Disney Moana on the High Seas (41150). As exciting as the set maybe for most LEGO and Disney fans, the image printed on the December Store Calendar was, unfortunately, a little out of focus. However, thanks to LEGO Club’s Yellow Brick Magazine for the month of November and December (particularly on page 5) we now have a closer look at set 41150, with high res images of Dwayne Johnson’s demigod character, Maui, Auli’i Cravalho’s Moana mini-doll rendition, and a new piece for Moana’s pet chicken, Hei Hei as voiced by Alan Tudyk.

41150 1

The print on Maui’s big fig version is absolutely superb, staying true to the demigod’s animated tattoos and determined expression. We also get to see a new rooster/chicken figure for Moana’s pet chicken Hei Hei. Love the aggressive look on his eyes, though I must admit that he looks more like a parrot of some sort because of his color scheme. Moana’s minidoll figure is also a little underwhelming which borrows heavily from the LEGO Friends theme. If there is one thing that this set was able to accomplish is the unorthodox combination of big figs and mini-dolls in a single set. I’m pretty sure that Maui’s big fig version will be a must-have for collectors and Disney fans alike.

Thanks to Minifigure Price Guide for the tip. Disney’s Moana set sails to US theaters on November 23, 2016.

Newest LEGO Batman Movie Trailer Is Out Now!

After several months of waiting, Warner Bros Pictures has now released the much anticipated follow-up trailer for its next brick-built movie. I wouldn’t comment much about it because I know you want to see it. Watch the latest official trailer of The LEGO Batman Movie below.

The trailer echoes the tone and focus of the previous ones: enabling the Dark Knight to realize that it ‘takes a team to build a hero’. It also gives us a closer look on Batman’s collection of sweet rides that were teased earlier. I love the distinct LEGO humor especially when Robin introduced the ‘Bat Kayak’. I assume it is a healthy dose of sarcasm on the fact that Batman’s collection of crime-fighting vehicles (including the Batsub and Bat Zeppelin) is as numerous as his different film iterations and costumes.

lego-batman-movie-05 lego-batman-movie-04lego-batman-movie-03

One thing that also caught my attention was the minifigure versions of Batman’s known enemies such as that of the Kiteman and King Tut as you can see them from the left side of this screenshot. It was rumored that Kiteman will be one of the villains to be included in the LEGO Batman Movie’s CMF series together with some other unnamed antagonists. There are also familiar faces among the Joker’s posse including King Tut and Man-Bat.

lego-batman-movie-01

Additionally, we get to see a possible LEGO set that was already listed by Brickset. Though there is no confirmation yet if this scene directly refers or hints at the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Balloon set (70900), but it is a good indicator that it may be so.

lego-batman-movie-02

We already know of several sets that were announced during this year’s San Diego Comic Con back in July, and during the most recent New York Comic Con held last month. Here are the LEGO Batman Movie sets that are yet to be officially revealed by TLG.

  • The Joker Balloon (70900)
  • Catwoman Catcycle Chase (70902)
  • The Riddler Riddle Racer (70903)
  • Clayface Splat Attack (70904)
  • Killer Croc (70907)
  • The Scuttler (70908)
  • Penguin’s Limo (70911)

It is very clear by now that LEGO and Warner Bros are heavily investing in the LEGO Batman Movie. With a total of 19 expected sets and a collectible minifig series, this is one LEGO theme that we will look forward to.

The LEGO Batman Movie hits US theatres on February 10, 2017.
