LEGO DC Super Heroes Aquaman: Black Manta Strike (76095) Officially Revealed – Coming August 1

Over a year after the premiere of Justice League, Warner Bros. Pictures will then release the next installment of their DC Extended Universe, in the form of Aquaman starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and more. With the year 2018 halfway through, there’s no better time to begin rolling out the tie-in merchandise. Of course that includes LEGO sets. The first LEGO DC Super Heroes set that is definitely tied in to the Aquaman movie has been revealed, and it’s called LEGO DC Super Heroes Aquaman: Black Manta Strike (76095). Set to come out in August 1, the set gives a first glimpse of what plot elements to expect from the upcoming DCEU film.

We can see the synergy with the live action portrayals in the minifigures included in this Aquaman: Black Manta Strike (76095) set: Aquaman sporting Jason Momoa’s awesome hair and dreads, and Mera looking like how Amber Heard appeared in her brief scene in Justice League. We also get a first look at film’s villain, Black Manta, to be portrayed in Aquaman by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, as well as his trademark Manta sub. Actress Naomie Harris Introduces The LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262)

Ali and the crew from the LEGO Labs YouTube channel was present during the unveiling of the LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262) set at LEGO’s very special, flagship store in Leicester Squre, London. The LEGO Store in London was particularly busy during the past few days, putting on display several James Bond memorabilia in line with its grand reveal earlier today. The star of the show is, however, is the next LEGO Creator Expert set that most fans waited in line since 5AM. And to make this unveiling event more special, superstar actress Naomie Harris was also around to introduce the LEGO James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262).

Naomie Harris is best known for her roles as the modern day counterpart of Miss Moneypenny in the more recent Bond films such as Skyfall and Spectre. Her presence during the set’s reveal were a welcome treat to all the LEGO and James Bond fans who waitied in line for almost 5 hours before the LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262) set was unveiled. After the unveiling event, LEGO VIP members who opted to purchase the set right off the store were also given the opportunity to meet the lead designer behind the James Bond Martin DB5 (10262), Michael Psiaki. Michael is also the designer responsible for other excellent LEGO Creator Expert sets such as the Volkswagen Beetle (10252), Downtown Diner (10260) and Carousel (10257). He is joined by Aston Martin’s Creative Director of Exterior Design, Miles Nurnberger, where both he and Michael hanged around at the LEGO Store in Leicester Square until 1PM for some box signing and photo ops.

After all the teasing via social media, and an unintentional reveal via a German automobile fan site, LEGO has now pulled back the veil from its next top secret set in tribute to the world’s classiest secret agent of all time. The LEGO Creator Expert James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262) set takes its cue from 007’s iconic 1960’s sports car that comes fully-loaded with all the accessories that a suave secret agent needs. This set comes in at a total of 1,290 pieces and is slated to be released on August 1 retailing for USD $150. For those who are anxiously waiting if the set will come with a LEGO James Bond minifigure, I’m sorry to say that it doesn’t. I’m not really sure about the reason behind it, but I guess this is somehow in line with LEGO Creator Expert’s long-standing tradition with its vehicles subtheme which does not include any relevant minifigures.

Don’t Mess Around With This Large-Scale, LEGO Ultrakatty Brick-Built Statue at SDCC 2018

Following the reveal of our first wave of LEGO Movie 2 sets, now comes another attraction to watch out for (and to take selfies from) at the LEGO Booth once the San Diego Comic Con kicks in next week. Revealed via Twitter, this large-scale, brick-built statue of LEGO’s Ultrakatty stands at an intimidating 4 feet tall and measures 7 and a half feet long.

From the looks of it, LEGO seems to be giving much screen time in promoting this leveled-up version of Unikitty. Other than this brick-built statue, we also have the SDCC exclusive, LEGO Movie 2 Apocalypseburg Unikitty figure, and the recently revealed Ultrakatty and Warrior Lucy (70827) set. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am pretty much impressed on how Ultrakatty turned out. From the moment I first saw it in the sequel’s official trailer, I know that LEGO will definitely bank its bricks to it. I like the concept of a leveled-up Unikitty, it’s like giving her the potential of powering up depending on her current feelings or emotional state. Its like seeing a brick-built figure of a Zoid that has a capability of powering up many times over such as Goku from the Dragon Ball series. Okay, that might be a bit far-fetched. Anyway, we’ve seen these changes in Unikitty’s emotions many times in the first LEGO Movie and I’m excited to see another dimension of her character and abilities once the LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part hit theaters in February.

Traditionally, LEGO has often released 2 or 3 brick statues during this fan conventions such as that from last year’s Luke Skywalker in line with the promotions for The Last Jedi, Thor for MCU’s Thor: Ragnarok, and Flash for Justice League. We can surely expect another one to be revealed in the next few days just in time for the opening of the San Diego Comic Con, so be sure to stay tuned.

First Wave of LEGO Movie 2 Official Set Images and Product Details Released

After LEGO’s initial reveal via Twitter of the first three tie-in sets slated for the upcoming LEGO Movie sequel, we now have our first wave of the LEGO Movie 2 official set images, names, and descriptions released via LEGO fan site Brick Fanz. These sets are scheduled to be showcased during next week’s San Diego Comic Con from July 19-22.

If you will notice, most of these LEGO Movie 2 official set images already appeared in the official trailer for the LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, and our predictions for future sets were quite spot on. As it turned out, we now have the official name for the overgrown but battle-ready, Unikitty that we saw in the trailer. I love how the Ultrakatty & Warrior Lucy set turned out, considering that the former is almost at minifigure scale as seen in the trailer. The set descriptions also offer a glimpse of some of the subtle points of the film without being too spoilery. I also find it curious to see that LEGO opted to provide us with multiple Emmet and Lucy minifigures in this theme. I’m not really sure if they are exactly the same minifigs across these sets, or if they will come with different face printing. As a last note, it looks like LEGO has also introduced one never-before-seen character for the LEGO Movie 2, which is Sharkia. She seems to be a mechanic of sorts, and it remains to be seen if she is a friend or foe for our master builders.

Are We To See More LEGO Star Wars Lando Calrissian Minifigures In 2019?

It looks like the most suave galactic gambler in this side of the galaxy will have more LEGO minifigs under his belt. Thanks to a confirmed report from The Hollywood Reporter, it was reported earlier this week that veteran actor Billy Dee Williams will be reprising his role as Lando Calrissian for the yet to be titled, Star Wars: Episode IX.

According to THR, Billy Dee Williams is reported to return to his most famous role that etched the name of Lando in the hearts of any true-blue Star Wars fan. Williams’ return to the big screen is a sort of a refresher, considering how the first two films from the modern trilogy, The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, practically ended the Skywalker’s saga with the death of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker respectively. Coupled with the untimely death of Carrie Fisher who played the role of Princess Leia, Lando’s return to this post-Skywalker Star Wars era is like a breath of fresh, nostalgic air.

Undoubtedly, LEGO already has worked out several upcoming LEGO Star Wars Episode IX sets that are due for release in time of the film’s debut on December 20, 2019. And it’s no speculation to consider that a Star Wars character as famous as Lando Calrissian will once more have the LEGO minifigure treatment. If you recall, LEGO opted to include two LEGO Star Wars sets that include Han Solo during his twilight years in The Force Awakens. Specifically, the Millennium Falcon (75105) and Rathtar Escape (75180) sets both included an aged Han Solo as we see him before his death in TFA. It is not a longshot to consider that somewhere along the LEGO pipeline, LEGO also has something in the works that will include 1 or 2 sets highlighting the seasoned Lando.

As of to date, the latest LEGO Star Wars set to include Lando as a minifigure is the Han Solo set Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212) released earlier this year. There is also a rumored re-release of the LEGO Star Wars Cloud City set which might also include another Lando Calrissian minifigure, though LEGO is still yet to confirm this.

We still have no idea what Star Wars Episode IX has in store, and we have to leave it to our imaginations to consider what LEGO has in the works for any tie-in sets. For now, since more and more news of the film’s cast is being revealed and Billy Dee Williams is sure to return as Lando, the LEGO Star Wars landscape is sure to be better. German AutoBILD Site Gives a First Look at the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262)

We’re roughly a week away before the curtains are pulled from this month’s next LEGO big reveal. Shrouded in mystery and enigma in the tradition of the world’s most iconic secret agent, LEGO is understandably reticent in giving out details regarding this next LEGO Creator Expert set – save for a silhouette of its corresponding box art and a teaser of its wheels. Now it looks like the secret is already out and spreading like wild fire across various social media platforms, and has been caught eventually by German motorhead AutoBILD. Though their line of interest is practically (and obviously) about cars and vehicles, it didn’t took long before the site caught attention of what seems to be a LEGO VIP invitation that glaringly displays an image of the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262).

From the looks of it, it seems that the above image was not sourced directly to AutoBILD but was picked up by the site via social media sources. So please pardon me if I have to blur out this part of the image – we don’t want to disturb the peace once again (if you know what I mean). Anyway, this particular image as I said earlier shows the LEGO Creator Expert Aston Martin DB5 (10262) in all its bluish gray glory. I love how this brick-built version of the venerable Aston Martin DB5 turned out, with a distinct LEGO Creator signature design all around it. If you’re perfectly alright with spoilers and leaks, then I believe you can easily find your way through social media to check out this image yourself. And if you can hold on to that excitement until the 18^th, and will prefer to steer away from sites in favor of seeing some crisp, HD images later on, then I suggest that you stay tuned here in our site.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis to Screen for SDCC 2018 Attendees Before Home Video Release

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis is the latest installment of the LEGO-WB Animation collaboration 3D animated film series. Unlike its cinematic counterpart, The LEGO Batman Movie, where LEGO partners with Warner Animation Group (WAG) instead, these LEGO DC superhero adventures are home-video or digital only.

But if you’re a LEGO/DC fan wondering what it must feel like to watch LEGO Aquaman with a theater crowd, you might be in luck if you’re planning to attend the 2018 San Diego Comic Con. That’s because there’s a panel for the movie and it’s going to be shown.

After LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes – Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis is screened in advance at the SDCC, there will be a post-showing panel with some of the film’s voice talent and the production heads to answer fan questions about the movie. The major cool factor for those con attendees who make the screening is that they’re also giving away the exclusive LEGO DCSH minifigure of the Jessica Cruz Green Lantern, the same one that’s included in the DVD/Blu-Ray boxes for LEGO Aquaman: Rage of Atlantis.

The film finds LEGO Aquaman facing a crisis of confidence in his rule as King of Atlantis following attacks by the Red Lanterns led by Atrocitus. But with the perspective gained by a journey he makes away from home, and the help of his friends in the Justice League, Aquaman may yet prove himself as King of the Seven Seas.

The SDCC Rage of Atlantis Screening and Post-Showing Panel will be on Sunday July 22, 2018 1:45-3:30pm in Room 6BCF. Amazon is currently offering this home video for pre-order so you may want to check this out as well.
