Though they have appeared earlier in some parts of the globe a few weeks ago, it seems that several Toys R Us stores in the US have already begun this year’s LEGO Bricktober promotions. With four, undoubtedly impressive sets to collect throughout the month of October, this year’s LEGO TRU Bricktober Minifigures includes a colorful collection of minifigures hailing from the LEGO Batman Movie, Ninjago, City Jungle Exploration, and Collectible Minifigures series.
As mentioned by The Brick Fan, some Toys R Us branches in the US have already started the said promotions. These exclusive minifigs are given for free, for every minimum single-receipt purchase of LEGO products worth $50 and above. Different TRU stores in various geographical regions have observed slightly different release dates throughout their Bricktober promotional, and in the US the following are the scheduled release dates to be followed.
October 1 to 7 – LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu (5004938)
October 8 to 14 – LEGO Batman Movie (5004939)
October 15 to 21 – LEGO City Jungle Exploration (5004940)
October 22 to 28 – LEGO Collectible Minifigures (5004941)
It seems that the in-store announcements and activities came in first, and we should expect some updates from TRU’s official website any time soon. Similarly, Toys R Us has lined up a pretty interesting series of Bricktober weekend in-store events, with a handful of freebies up for grabs. Check TRU’s website for more details.
If you recall from last year’s grand opening of the largest LEGO Store in the world at Leicester Square in London, LEGO fans in the UK were thrilled to know that LEGO went the extra mile by offering a limited edition (only 275 pieces released), Lester minifigure to mark the occasion. However, it is not something that has gone out smoothly since most LEGO fans who visited were quite disappointed to know that they will only qualify to bring home this freebie after reaching a certain purchase threshold AND via a scratch card lottery system. Needless to say, only 275 visitors left the store brimming with smiles during that day.
Now a year later, LEGO Leicester Square has a treat for everyone, now that the store offers Lester once more and this time in a polybag version that you can buy right from the store. The new LEGO Lester Minifigure (40308) polybag is now on sale in the said LEGO Leicester Square, retailing for £5.99 (approximately $8) each, and with no qualifying purchases or conditions.
It is said that this new Lester minifigure offering seems to be a bit different from the original, particularly with regards to its hat element. Though last year’s Lester minifig still remains to be desired for its impressive packaging similar to Comic-Con offerings, this later polybag version is still a good catch if you wish to bring home with you a part of the largest LEGO store in the world. We just have to see later on if such differences from the original version do exist.

A couple of weeks ago, we saw the official images of this year’s Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 minifigure sets and this time, more info is coming in from TRU’s outlets in south east Asia. Thanks to TRU Taiwan and Singapore, we have additional images that suggest that we’ll be expecting more than just the usual package of four minifigures.
TRU Singapore’s Bricktober 2017 ad.
TRU Taiwan’s blog site shares details on this year’s Bricktober minifigure sets which apparently includes a diorama for each of them. Each set comes with its unique, foldable diorama that complements the minifigs’ in them. Check these out.
LEGO Ninjago Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 (5004938)
LEGO Batman Movie Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004939)
LEGO City Jungle Exploration Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004940)
LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Collectible Minifigures (5004941)
As you can see, the LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures (5004939) comes with what it seems to be a facade of Gotham City, while the LEGO City Jungle Exploration Minifigures (5004940) is placed on a jungle themed background (that seems obvious), and the LEGO Collectible Minifigures (5004941) set comes in with a sea rescue diorama format. What I find rather odd is how the LEGO Ninjago Minifigures (5004938) set is packaged. Since it is clear that the set specifically refers to Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu, the accompanying background is expected to be based on the recent season of the TV show. However, as you can see from the image above, its choice of diorama takes its cue from The LEGO Ninjago Movie, which is quite out of place in my opinion. Nevertheless, the diorama itself is a nice addition to these limited edition sets and adds a touch of exclusivity to them. It reminds me of the LEGO Batman Movie Movie Maker Set (853650), and the LEGO Ninjago Movie Movie Maker Set (853702) which comes with their similar backdrops.
Though TRU stores in some parts of Asia and Europe have already announced their Bricktober release schedules, we still yet to see the same in the US and North America. Traditionally, these sets are released in the month of October, so we are expecting to hear some word from Toys R Us any time soon. Let us know in the comments below if you happen to spot these minifigs in your local TRU store.
Now that the hype surrounding the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) has simmered down a bit, and that the Falcon is seemingly taking a break from the spotlight now that it is out of stock from virtually all LEGO stores and at shop.LEGO.com, let’s take a look at another wave of LEGO sets that were quietly released by LEGO during the past week.
If you are following the recent developments about the future of this last bastion of the toys-to-life genre, then the above headline will not come as much as a surprise to you. We’ve reported several months ago that Wave 9 of LEGO Dimensions is likely to be its very last, and that the whole theme is now probably slated to be cancelled. Considering all the telltale signs that appeared during the past months, we have reasons to believe that this is going to be the case.
Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that LEGO Dimensions Wave 9 is less to be desired now that it is officially available, featuring the iconic characters of Beetlejuice, the Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans Go! For those who are intending to add Wave 9 to their LEGO Dimensions collection, then you might be glad to hear that all of these characters are not exclusive to any retailer. It means purchasing them is relatively easy. Here’s a glimpse of these latest LD characters in action, followed by their official description and video spotlight. As an added treat, you can complete the entire Teen Titans team by adding Robin from the LEGO Dimensions The LEGO Batman Movie: Play the Complete Movie (71264), and you can have his Teen Titans Go! version as a playable character on screen. Likewise, you can also scan Cyborg (71210) to gain access to a similar cartoon variant, completing the entire Teen Titans Go! ensemble.

Toys R Us Germanyhas now released the official images of this year’s Bricktober 2017 Minifigures sets. Following the reveal of this year’s minifigure collection from TRU Austria’s promotional poster, their corresponding official images have now been released online. It gives us a better idea of what to expect from these sets which is quite frankly, one of the best that TRU offered so far.
These prized collectibles will be distributed first in Germany this month, and in the US and the rest of the world in October. There’s no official word yet on what particular weeks will these sets be released, and how to have these minifigs in the US once October kicks in, but based on previous TRU Briktober promotionals, we can assume that these minifigure sets will be given away for free with a minimum of qualifying LEGO purchase of $50 and above, exclusively at all TRU stores in the US. On the other hand, they will go on sale in Germany for 14.99€ per set and will also be given for free with a minimum LEGO purchase of 40€ and above.
LEGO Ninjago Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 (5004938)
LEGO Batman Movie Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004939)
LEGO City Jungle Exploration Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004940)
LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Collectible Minifigures (5004941)
Yesterday, I reported on two of the four waves of limited edition, LEGO TRU Bricktober minifigures that the retail giant will exclusively release this year. It was further revealed that these LEGO TRU Bricktober minifigure sets will be based on the LEGO Batman Movie (5004939) and LEGO City Jungle Exploration (5004940) themes, and now, thanks to the efforts of the Brick Samuraiwho managed to snap a photo of TRU’s promotional LEGO poster in a local store in Austria, we have an idea on what the two remaining sets are. Take a look at the image below.
As we can see from this TRU poster, the third revealed set seems to have been iterations of previously released LEGO collectible minifigures such as the Boxer from Series 5, the Hippie from Series 7, the normal human form of the Zombie Cheerleader of the Monster Minifigures Series 14, and the Sailor from Series 4. Based on this image grab, it seems that this set is listed as the 4th Bricktober minifigure set to be released within the month of the promotional.
The last (and ironically the first to be slated for release during the first week of Bricktober) is based on LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjutzu. Though we previously predicted that this will be lifted from the LEGO Ninjago Movie theme, the image below shows that this Bricktober set will be based on the TV series instead. Some of these minifigures are also new versions of the existing ones that we already have, including a White Nindroid (as seen in several Ninjago sets), a rather different version of Krux from Season 7 (Hands of Time), Neuro from the Season 4, and the Golden Ninja which is said to be the digital version of Golden Techno Kai. Though I’m expecting that this set will be from The LEGO Ninjago Movie, I’m not that all disappointed in this collection of Ninjago minifigs that LEGO has included in this TRU Bricktober collection. I appreciate how LEGO would tie-in these releases to correspond with their upcoming shows and programs.
Although the Austrian TRU poster indicates a release date of September for these minifigures, Bricktober in the US usually happens in October. So it seems that our European friends will certainly have an early share of these latest minifigure craze. Here’s the list or particular order of releases based on what we know from their boxes.
LEGO Ninjago Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 (5004938) – Week 1
LEGO Batman Movie Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004939) – Week 2
LEGO City Jungle Exploration Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures (5004940) – Week 3
LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Collectible Minifigures (5004941) – Week 4
Frankly, this year’s selection of Toys R Us Bricktober minifigures is far better than the bland selections that LEGO and TRU released last year, which is pretty generic. The LEGO Batman Movie series from this wave will certainly be on the top of my list, followed by the reboot of the Collectible Minifigures. How about you, brick fan, which is your personal favorite among these? Let us know in the comments below.
For the past years, TRU has celebrated the month of October with a series of exclusive, limited edition minifigures to mark what has been dubbed as TRU’s Bricktober sales. 2016 saw four LEGO minifigure sets released by TRU per week for the whole month of October consisting of a Musicians (Week 1), Warrior (Week 2), Athletes (Week 3), and Cops and Robbers (Week 4) packs. These minifigures packs were given for free for a minimum purchase of any LEGO products worth $50 and above at all participating Toys R Us in the US and some parts of the globe.
This year, TRU is keeping the tradition alive with the latest reveal of its exclusive Bricktober minifigure sets, and this time, we now have our first images of these prized minifigs courtesy of Promobricks. These reveals covers Weeks 2 and 3 of the series, with LEGO Classic and Ninjago slated to be revealed anytime soon.
LEGO Batman Movie Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures – Week 2 (5004939)
LEGO City Jungle Exploration Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures – Week 3 (5004940)
As you can see, each set consists of four minifigures, and though I haven’t seen any of the LEGO Ninjago Movie and Classic Bricktober minifigures, the LEGO Batman Movie Bricktober minifigs already won my heart. All of Batman’s iterations included in this set don’t disappoint. I’m personally looking forward to that Roman Soldier Batman minifig with its cool bat-themed shield and armor/torso.
There’s no official word from TRU as of the moment, but we expect that they will be releasing a flyer of their own October LEGO calendar, similar to the one that they gave last year.
Toys R Us Bricktober Calendar from 2016.
It is fair to assume that qualifying LEGO purchases required to avail these exclusive minifigs will most likely fall between $50 to $75 US dollars given their previous promotionals. We’ll give you updates as soon as it becomes available, so be sure to click on that subscribe button (the one with the bell icon) down below and stay tuned here at the Brick Show!
We still have a day to go before this year’s Force Friday II is officially concluded, and with all of its announced offers and freebies, it seems that LEGO has another promotional exclusive hidden under its sleeve. We’re not really sure if this is a last minute call from the part of TLG or is just a response to the fact that the Scarif Stormtrooper (40176) minifigure polybag is already not showing at shop.LEGO.com once you check out, nevertheless, this latest minifigure promotional may prove to be attractive to the most avid collector of LEGO Star Wars minifigures.
Before the clock strikes 12 at midnight (EST) of September 3, or while supplies last, LEGO Star Wars fans (US and Canada only) with a qualifying purchase of $50 or more of any LEGO Star Wars products will receive a FREE and exclusive Admiral Yularen minifigure (5002947) as seen in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The latest promotional is now up at shop.LEGO.com, though we’re not certain until when this freebie will be up considering the expected high volume of sales brought by Force Friday II.
The 4-piece minifigure features Admiral Yularen in his Imperial Security Bureau uniform. The said minifigure is valued at $5.99, but of course, the after-market value of this exclusive may go beyond that price point depending on the relative interest of the community. Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, if you’re still looking forward to bag that Scarif Stormtrooper minifigure, the possibility of grabbing one as of this writing is close to nil. However, LEGO is kind enough to throw in Admiral Yularen as an exclusive freebie as an apparent replacement for its first minifig promotional.
What do you think brick fans, do you still have any last minute LEGO Force Friday II shopping plans? Are you looking to bring home this minifigure? Share us what you think in the comments below.
A few days back, LEGO Dimensions has released a new gameplay video highlighting some of the iconic characters included in its most recent Wave 9 characters. LEGO’s September Store Calendar is now available online, and it is one super-exciting month for all Ninjago and Star Wars fans. This month celebrates the theatrical release of The LEGO Ninjago Movie with not just one, but TWO promotional polybags for the month. September also marks the much awaited return of Force Friday, aptly dubbed as this year’s Force Friday II. To sweeten the deal, LEGO brings back double VIP points for any LEGO Star Wars purchase made from September 1 to 3, PLUS a free promotional Scarif Stormtrooper (40176) minifigure. Let’s take a closer look.
September 1-3: LEGO Star Wars Force Friday II.
Earn double VIP points on all LEGO Star Wars items, and get a FREE exclusive Scarif Stormtrooper (40176) minifigure with purchase of $50 or more while supplies last. For most of us, the exclusivity of this promotional minifigure will be the main reason why we’re holding on to that next LEGO purchase until September 1.
I just hope that we will not go through that same predicament most us experienced when during last year’s Force Friday, with the exclusive Darth Revan minifigure promotional attached to it, shop.LEGO.com listed that the sought after Darth Revan minifig already ran out of stock just 4 to 6 hours after Force Friday officially kicked in. We just have to wait and see.
TLNM offers an impressive range of promotional polybags, based mostly on its larger mech replicas such as the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612), Ice Tank (70616), and the rumored Quake Mech. I’m pretty sure that these polybags will be in demand in the aftermarket after their promotional period.
September 4-30: FREE exclusive The LEGO Ninjago Movie poster with a LEGO Ninjago purchase.
Other than the cool polybags, you also get to bring home a complimentary, The LEGO Ninjago Movie poster for purchase of any TLNM set, minifigure or accessory. This promo will run from September 4 to 30.
September 5 & 6: FREE VIP Monthly Mini Model Build which is a Dinosaur.
To reserve your spot, simply register for the September MMB by visiting shop.LEGO.com/Minibuild-Registration starting August 15. The LEGO MMB is meant for children ages 6 to 14, and must be completely built in store.
September 14-30: VIPs get early access to TWO exclusive sets.
We have reason to believe that one of these D2C sets is the rumored comeback of the LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon, while the other one is completely under wraps. The excitement is really intense!
September 16: VIP Ninjago Building Event.
LEGO Ninjago fans ages 6 to 14 will have a blast building this mini version of Kai’s Red Fire Mech. This event is exclusively for VIP members and registration is necessary to participate.
September 18-24: Dress Like a Ninja Week.
Put on your ninja garb and visit any LEGO store dressed up like your favorite Ninjago hero and get a free Ninjago mask while supplies last.
September 22 – October 8: FREE The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd Minifigure (30609) with purchase of $50 or more.
Just in time for The LEGO Ninjago Movie’s big screen debut, we finally have information on how we can bring home one of Lloyd’s most impressive minifigure version. Found over at eBay a few days ago, we now know that the Lloyd Minifigure (30609) polybag will come as a free promotional during the said dates for any LEGO purchase of $50 and above.
If you can still hold on to that LEGO spending power, then now is probably time to do so. There’s a handful of pretty impressive sets that you may want to check out in September such as the colourfully detailed Ninjago City (70620) and the idyllic LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310). If you want to go massive, then be on the lookout on what LEGO has in store on September 14 and 15.
