Summer is still far from over and yet LEGO is now giving us another early Christmas treat with the release of another Advent Calendar following the reveal of those from the LEGO Friends and LEGO Star Wars theme. I’m a fan of these LEGO City Advent Calendars, and thankfully Promobricks have uploaded our first image of the set’s box art.
The 2018 LEGO City Advent Calendar (60201) features 4 minifigures including our main stay Santa. I’m looking forward in having that husky minifigure and the golden microfig on top of the Christmas tree. The microbuilds are decent as well, which is a shout out to this year’s LEGO City themes such as those from the Arctic and Mining sets.
Promobricks reports a release date of sometime in September, with the LEGO City Advent Calendar (60201) retailing for 19.99 Euros, which could also be around $30 same as that from last year.
LEGO has now lifted the lid off its additional summer 2018 sets which it held back before during the New York City Toy Fair last February. Brick Show Brian was also at the scene during the Fall LEGO Event where all these sets were finally put on display, with four new sets officially revealed.
If you recall, we reported on this since December last year when leaked information about these sets was making their rounds over the internet at that time. Well the guess work is finally over now that we can finally see them in crystal clear images. These latest LEGO Star Wars sets are slated to be released sometime in August. Check these out and be sure to watch Brick Show Brian’s coverage of these LEGO sets put on display right after these images.
It was promised by LEGO, ever since the days before the start of the New York Toy Fair in February. A new variant of minifigures based on Cartoon Network’s iconic team of super-powered preschoolers, The Powerpuff Girls, was to be released in August. Now, we get our first good look.
It was sure nice of LEGO to post images of their new Powerpuff Girls minifigure sets on their official Facebook page, as the photos happen to show the characters and their settings in action. As previewed before, the character minifigures seem most adapted to how they looked like in the long-cancelled online game LEGO Dimensions.
Thus far, two sets of LEGO Powerpuff Girls have been identified from the photos: Bubbles’ Playground Showdown (41287) and Mojo Jojo Strikes (41288), and they look like they’re going to be action-oriented with plenty props.
Bubbles’ Playground Showdown (41287)
144 pieces; $19.99
Comes with Bubbles and Prince Morbucks minifigures, plus Octy doll.
Mojo Jojo Strikes (41288)
228 pieces; $29.99
Comes with Blossom, Buttercup and Mojo Jojo minifigures, plus Donny the Unicorn.
It’s been a buzz early this year in toy fairs where LEGO has been present in, that news of an upcoming LEGO DC Super Heroes Set will be a vehicle driven by the new LEGO Power Functions 2.0 system featured in none other than the Dark Knight’s very own Batmobile.
After having to make do with blurred-out teaser images of the LEGO DCSH App-Controlled Batmobile (76112), the wait is over as LEGO finally released some clear official images of how the set’s going to look. All told, it makes the Tumbler from Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy look sleek in comparison.
Okay, this App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) might appear more like a Bat-APC, but the design’s probably to better integrate the mechanics that will be driven by Power Functions 2.0. This is also the proving ground for having Power Functions features being activated and operated via Bluetooth through an included smartphone app.
A retail price tag of $160 might be a bit too steep for some collectors, but considering that this is something of a first then I guess it can be quite reasonable. The LEGO DC Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) is made up of 321 pieces, plus a Batman minifigure with several accessories, two Power Functions motors and a battery hub. The set comes out in August.
LEGO never fails to remind us why they’re the best at helping children and builders of other ages to put together the city of their dreams. All through May, they’ve wowed us with one new LEGO City set announcement after another, from “capital” city centers to hospitalsto railway lines.
That last part was already revealed last week, in the form of two LEGO City train sets, the Passenger Train (60197) and Cargo Train (60198). We got good photos of the two sets fully assembled, and now PromoBricks is showing us how they’re going to officiallylook in the packaging.
It’s already been established that 60197 and 60198 both come with Power Functions 2.0 to make them go on their tracks, and they come with a new remote control scheme that, as the previous update already stated, will give operators fine-tuned controls over the Passenger and Cargo Trains once the Power Functions gets them rolling.
The LEGO City Passenger Train (60197) comes in at 677 pieces and will retail for $159.99, while the LEGO City Cargo Train (60198) will have 1,226 pieces and will have a price tag of $229.99. Both sets will be available in August.
After the reveal of the LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz moments ago, everything is now in full swing with LEGO finally releasing its much awaited sets of the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter theme, via Entertainment Weekly.
The subtheme is slated to have six sets, with 3 additional sets revealed today following the unveiling of the Hogwarts Great Hall (75954) back in February. These new sets are a shout out to those famous scenes from the franchise’s first three films: the Hogwarts Whomping Willow (75953) from The Chamber of Secrets, The Hogwarts Express (75955) from The Prisoner of Azkaban and Quidditch Match (75956) from The Philosopher’s Stone. I love how the Hogwarts Whomping Willow connects seamlessly with the Hogwarts Great Hall, and having another train set in the likeness of the Hogwarts Express. Check out the rest of the details below. Thanks to The Brick Fan for the additional info.

So yeah, we’ve got that release of LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz down, but it looks like that’s not the last of it for today. There’s another piece of BrickHeadz news that came out, but thus far all it has is confirmation that this set exists and will be coming soon.
If you thought Harry Potter was a blast from the past, this one goes back a decade or two more. It’s none other than a BrickHeadz set for Ghostbusters, that awesome 1984 comedy spook film that started a modest but memorable franchise for Columbia Pictures (including that “divisive” 2016 remake).
Yes it’s only one set, but it has two characters that really count: Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) and the Busters’ first trapped ghost-turned-ally/pet/something, Slimer. As you can see from the BrickHeadz details, Peter just got slimed, referencing the hotel where they caught Slimer. He’s armed with his proton pack while the green ghost has his trademark favorite food: hotdogs.
And that’s about it; we don’t even get a LEGO set number for the new Ghostbusters BrickHeadz 2-pack. If it’s anything like the Harry Potter releases though, we can expect it to cost anywhere from $14.99 to $19.99, so for now we just keep an eye out, hopefully more info on this’ll come our way.
Information on new LEGO Wizarding World stuff seems to be picking up again this week. After that little tease they did putting the flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in a banner supposed to be advertising LEGO Elves on their website, more reveals were on its way.
This time it’s in the form of LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz, three sets for the wave. We’ve got a couple of 2-packs and one solo, all of well-known characters that we’ve missed seeing (in their prime) for so long. So let’s take a look at them.
Harry Potter and Hedwig (41615) 2-pack for $14.99
Here’s 180 pieces to put together The Boy Who Lived and his trusty snowy white owl. I’m pretty sure you’re having flashbacks to the books and films about their partnership and its tragically symbolic end; so why not grab a memorial set?
Hermione Granger (41616) for $9.99
Take home the smartest and most Muggle-awesome witch in the franchise with this solo BrickHeadz set, 127 pieces in all. With her trusty wand and a handy wizarding reference book, Hermione’s ready to solve all puzzles, take on dark threats and fight for magical rights.
Ron Weasley & Albus Dumbledore (41621) for $19.99
Complete the Golden Trio with this 2-pack BrickHeadz set, and with their wise if complexity-obsessed mentor, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School. Use the 245 pieces to assemble Ron and Professor Dumbledore and get ready to take on Voldemort and his Death Eaters. By the way, this one is a Target exclusive BrickHeadz!
