Entire Line-up of LEGO Powerpuff Girls Minifigures Revealed!

Just in time before the gates of the New York Toy Fair opens on Saturday, LEGO has opted to reveal the full line-up of cast for its LEGO Powerpuff Girls sets. Yesterday, we had an official word from LEGO about the rumored return of the girls in minifigure forms. Frankly, this doesn’t come as a surprise since we already saw how the superpowered girls from Townsville looked like as part of the now discontinued LEGO Dimensions sets. What comes as a nice surprise is the inclusion of what most of us have been waiting for: the most adorable evil primate of all: Mojo Jojo!

First revealed by The Geekiary, these minifigures of Buttercup, Bubbles, and Blossom along with Princess Morbucks, the stuff toy Octi, Donny the Unicorn and of course, Mojo Jojo, are all part of two LEGO Powerpuff Girls sets scheduled to be released also in August.

LEGO PPG

The LEGO® Group will issue two new and exciting building sets featuring Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup allowing children, and fans of all ages, to recreate the superheroes’ action-packed adventures.

The two sets being mentioned here are the Bubbles Playground Showdown (41287) which includes Bubbles, Princess Morbucks, and Octi; while the other one is the Mojo Jojo Strikes (41288) which obviously comes with the super genius monkey himself Mojo Jojo, Buttercup, Blossom and Donny the Unicorn.  Let’s see if LEGO will also give us a glimpse of these sets at NYTF.

LEGO Also Confirms Fantastic Beasts Sets This Year.

Just as LEGO pulled the veil off from some of 2018’s Harry Potter sets, this time, LEGO has also confirmed the rumored Fantastic Beasts sets also slated this August. The announcement was made via LEGO’s official Facebook page, together with an image of a younger Harry Potter minifigure, standing in front of Platform 9 ¾.

LEGO has not released any detail yet about these LEGO Fantastic Beasts sets, so we’re hoping we can get a word or two from Brian as he is now in the thick of the action at the New York Toy Fair. Will keep you posted on this, so be sure to stay tuned here only at the Brick Show!

LEGO Officially Reveals More Powerpuff Girls Sets in August!

Coming in hot from their reveal of the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212) this Valentine’s, LEGO has dropped another reveal to further sweeten our day. Now before we get too excited about this latest news, we should bear in mind that there is not much of a difference with regards to how these minifigures look like as compared to their first debut as part of the last wave of LEGO Dimensions sets. If you recall, we also featured a video where Brian gave us some interesting details on how the upcoming LEGO Powerpuff Girls will look like, describing in detail these sets’ features and the minifigures included in them. However, earlier today, LEGO has finally broken its months-long silence, and finally gave us its first official confirmation of the girls having their own LEGO theme.

The news was shared via LEGO’s Twitter account, announcing the arrival of LEGO Powerpuff Girls sets in August. These sets are rumored to be the LEGO Powerpuff Girls Bubbles’ Playground Showdown (41287) and Mojo Jojo Strikes (41288).  Hopefully, now that we’re just a couple of days away from this weekend’s New York Toy Fair, we’ll get to see how these sets will actually look like, but for now this is what LEGO opted to share.

The LEGO Powerpuff Girls sets will be available beginning August. Set 41287 is said to feature the minifigures of Bubbles, Princess Morbucks, and Octi, while set 41288 will feature everyone’s favorite primate baddie, Mojo Jojo, Blossom, Buttercup, and a brick-built version of the Donny the Unicorn from the new series.

LEGO Star Wars Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212) Officially Revealed!

It looks like LEGO is not just giving as a treat this Valentine’s Day, but also a taste of things to come before this year’s New York Toy Fair kicks in on Saturday. We already have an idea that this particular set is eventually one of the LEGO Han Solo tie-in builds that we can expect this April, and this time around, LEGO opted to reveal one of them to whet our interest.

Posted via their Facebook page, LEGO now gives us our first official look at the LEGO Star Wars Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212).  This set comes in at 1,414 pieces and features what is supposedly the original version of the Falcon before Han Solo heavily modded it. It also features the minifigure versions of Qi’Ra, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, Quay Tolsite, Kessel Operations Droid, and DD-BD. The set will be released sometime in April, retailing for $169.99.

Now you might be wondering why these images feel like a bit incomplete since two minifigures (Quay Tolsite and DD-BD) are still missing from the roster of images and that the official box arts were also not revealed. I reckon that it still has something to do with LEGO and Disney still holding back on the finer details of the film before it premieres on May 25. Nevertheless, we can still enjoy this crisp, clear images and have a slight idea of what to expect from this set.

LEGO Ideas Moments in Space Crowd Voting Is Now Up!

Last month, LEGO Ideas embarked on a different kind of contest where the next LEGO exclusive Gift With Purchase (GWP) set will be determined amongst a pool of fan submitted builds. The LEGO Ideas Moments in Space contest have opened the doors to the LEGO community to be involved in the selection of the next GWP set that will be offered in all LEGO Stores, LEGOLAND and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers, and of course, at shop.LEGO.com. The period of fan submission has already ended last February 9, and crowd voting is now up, with 5 days left to cast your votes among 1,000++ entries. The timetable for this contest is relatively short, where a Grand Prize Winner, and 10 Runner-Ups will be announced on March 2. The Grand Prize winner gets to bring home 10 of the most sought after GWP sets such as the VW Mini Beetle (40252), London Bus (40220), and Snowglobe (40223) just to name a few.

Needless to say, choosing from a pool of 1,051 entries is no easy feat, so allow me to share six of my most favorite choices from the bunch. From the looks of my choices, it is no secret that I have a sort of a penchant for the classic LEGO Space series.  Check these LEGO Ideas Moments in Space GWP hopefuls in no particular order. Clicking on the links below will bring you straight to each entry’s voting page.

Classic LEGO Space Microfighters by TROLLFACE_DUDE

This classic LEGO Space Microfighters model is a fusion of two LEGO themes: Space and Microfighters, and is inspired by LEGO Classic Space and Blacktron.

Classic Space Hangar by  ThomasW

classic space hangar

This set contains a part of a space hangar in classic blue and grey. Inside the hangar is a classic spaceship with three minifigures, and a platform that can be made out of lightbricks for an added special effect.

Our Place in Space by Scarlet Fantastic

our place in space

Celebrating the contributions of Galileo Galilei in our understanding of our place in space, this set shows Galileo as he stands atop the Earth, poised with his telescope as the planet spins, whilst rotating around the sun – which also happens to be an excellent play feature. It comes with a minifigure and a series of Technic gears.

Every Journey Begins With A Dream by ThomasW

Every journey

I’m a sucker for small, vignette-type of builds, and this one designed once more by ThomasW is a clever offering with a clear, inspirational message. It features a build with two adjacent scenes: A young kid playing with a little rocket and dreaming to become an astronaut, while the other one is an astronaut walking on the moon and finding a small toy rocket. This one will surely get my vote.

Cosmic Rocket Ride! (Coin Operated) by mjsmiley

cosmic rocket ride

Coming in at 115 pieces, this retro themed space rocket ride brings back fond childhood memories and fantasies of space travel. In the back of the base is a crank that you can rock back and forth, giving the ride an authentic motion.  Or you can turn the crank completely to give the rider a more high flying exciting time.  When resting on display, the rocket can be left with a hopeful skyward tilt.

Classic Space Returns by callock

This micro spaceship is based on the 1980s classic space color of gray and blue, with the mix of old and new pieces.  The hangar bay has a classic space logo and rotation platform.  Total piece count is about 230.

So what do you think of this selection, brick fans? Who among the 1,000 plus entries do  you think will represent our next LEGO Gift With Purchase set? Let us know in the comments below.

The LEGO Disney Castle (71040) and LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) Now Back at LEGO Shop@Home.

Two of the most sought after, gargantuan LEGO sets are now back at shop.LEGO.com – but you have to be quick though, since you know how these things turn out eventually. 2016’s largest set – the LEGO Disney Castle (71040), and the brick buster of an Ideas set, the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) – are both back for retail over at shop.LEGO.com. The Disney Castle (71040) comes in as a direct-to-consumer set which, like any D2C set, can prove to be very popular. In fact, the LEGO Disney Castle managed to bag the Specialty Toy of the Year awarded by the Toy Industry Association Inc. Click on the image below to head over at shop.LEGO.com’s page for the LEGO Disney Castle (71040).

The availability of the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) set was a kind of a roller coaster ride last year. Since its initial debut in June last year, it only took just a little over a month before supplies of this highly popular set started to dwindle. The frustration of not getting this aesthetically lovely set has been sharply felt by the LEGO Group that it prompted them to release an official statement regarding Saturn V’s availability and to finally put to rest rumors regarding its untimely retirement. If you have missed out on the opportunity of owning this set when it was first released almost a year ago, now is the best time to place your order. Similarly, click on the image below to go to LEGO’s online store and see if you can still bag this beauty.

Again, I couldn’t help but underscore the need for you to act fast since these sets may once again be temporarily out of stock anytime soon. Currently as of this posting, both the LEGO Disney Castle and Saturn V sets are on backorders, and will be expected to ship in February 25. In fact, you’ll have a better chance of bringing these sets home than the still out of stock, UCS Millennium Falcon (75192).  Alternatively, you may want to check out on Amazon, though the prices may not be as friendly though.

LEGO Robot and Vehicle Free Builds Polybag (30499) Now Available at Walmart and LEGOLAND.

The 60 Years of the LEGO Brick milestone anniversary is as good as on for the entirety of 2018, with a number of commemorative sets being released. You need only look at the quick selling out of Walmart’s classic sets to know how popular they are.

Not all LEGO 60th anniversary products are in boxes, however. There are some that come in polybags. If you recall, we reported some time in December that among the polybags to be released in 2018, one in particular will be released to mark the LEGO brick’s 60th anniversary. If you are a LEGO completionist and wish to collect of all of LEGO’s commemorative anniversary sets and not just the larger ones, then you will definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on the LEGO Robot and Vehicle Free Builds (30499) polybag. Frankly, there’s nothing fancy in particular about this polybag coming in at 56 random LEGO pieces. Like the larger sets within its anniversary theme, the simple offering of this polybag encourages builders to think creatively and come up with their own creations.

30499 03

If you wish to grab hold of this collectible, then you’ll be glad to know that the LEGO Robot and Vehicle Free Builds (30499) polybag can now be found in Walmart branches, as well as stores in LEGOLAND and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers. Like I said just now, this polybag is more a random jumble of building elements, although the polybag also comes with instructions to construct a basic, miniaturized robot and vehicle builds.

This 56-piece LEGO polybag is a great basic build for starter LEGO fans, perfect for imagination-fueled construction due to its simplicity. It’s an awesome and affordable way to get newbies into LEGO on the year of its 60th brick anniversary celebration.

The LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War sets are expected to go out live both in-store and online starting March 3. Recent sightings of these sets among toy stores suggest that we might get to see more of these offered for retail even before the end of this month, so let’s keep our eyes open on these.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War Sets Found in the Wild.

It looks like we now have our first ‘official’ look at some of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War sets. Ahead of this year’s New York Toy Fair, some retailers has already displayed or have started selling some of the sets included in this massive MCU film. If you recall, Jason published the list of official names of these IW sets a few weeks ago, adding some firsthand information on how they look like. This time around, it seems we have our first box art images coming from various parts of the globe, courtesy of the Brickfinder. Now bear in mind that these may not be considered as leaks in the strictest sense of the word since they are now put on display by retailers for anyone to purchase, so it’s kind of fair game.

First off, we have the first sighting spotted in a local toy shop in Singapore. The LEGO Marvel Superheroes Outrider Dropship Attack (76101) box art can be seen below, and it has the minifigure versions of Captain America (what was referred to by some as Nomad Captain America probably because of the beard print), Black Widow and an Outrider. It also seems to include an Infinity Stone. The set retails for $29.90 Singaporean dollars and will approximately convert to around $22.50 USD. Though the rough conversion is a bit steep for a such a small set, the actual retail price in the US is expected to be at around $15.

76101

Next we also have another image coming from the Lion City. We also have this box art image of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes The Hulkbuster Smash-Up (76104) and it features minifig versions of Bruce Banner, Falcon, Proxima Midnight and another Outrider. Other than highlighting a new version of the Hulkbuster as compared to The Hulk Buster Smash (76031), this IW set also includes a black turret fired by an Outrider.

76104

This last LEGO IW reveal has been reportedly found from an unnamed Romanian online store. The largest among the IW sets, the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Sanctum Sanctorium Showdown (76108) is estimated to retail for around $120 USD and will come with the minifigs of Doctor Strange, Iron Man (in his rumored Bleeding Edge armor), Iron Spider Man, Cull Obsidian (bigfig), and Ebony Maw. This brick-built version of the Sanctum Sanctorium can very much pass for a modular building though noticeably smaller in size.

76108

Knowing that the LEGO March Store Calendar has already hinted at a March 3 and 4 release date for these LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War sets, we can better expect that these sightings will be all the more frequent. Have about from your end? Did you manage to spot these sets in your local toy stores? Let us know in the comments below.

Ford Highlights The LEGO Speed Champions 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (75884).

Towards the end of January, we finally got our first good look at LEGO’s next wave of Speed Champions sets, long loved by LEGO motor enthusiasts but somewhat under represented in the past. Prospective collectors were bowled over by the six initial releases: two Porches, two Ferrari and two Ford sets.

In recent press release, the LEGO Group gave its thoughts on one of the most classic muscle cars of all time, now rendered in LEGO bricks. The LEGO Speed 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (75884) is both a testament to Ford’s outstanding legacy in the automobile industry, and our love for America’s favorite sports car.

Here’s part of LEGO and Ford’s press release courtesy of The Brick Fan. It talks about the efforts to evoke an authentic image of the 1968 mustang Fastback for Speed Champions, such as the bodywork color scheme, the driver minifigure’s uniform design, and even a Ford-branded time board.

75884 1

Ford and LEGO® are celebrating Ford’s heritage by adding a 1968 Mustang fastback race car to the LEGO Speed Champions lineup.

As a tribute to America’s favorite sports car, the 183-piece Ford Mustang kit features green bodywork with gold dual stripes and wheels, race graphic stickers, removable windscreen and a mini-figure driver wearing a classic racing suit. For added fun, the race car set includes a Ford-branded timing board.

“The new Ford Mustang LEGO Speed Champions set gives parents and children the chance to share their passions – generations of fans have grown up building LEGO sets and spending time together behind the wheel,” said Myra Lind, LEGO Speed Champions marketing manager. “This partnership of iconic brands allows kids of all ages to enjoy the latest products from two great companies.”

Ford licensing manager Matt Monroe has this to say regarding the LEGO Speed Champions Mustang Fastback (75884): “We worked closely with LEGO to design a vintage Mustang, personalizing the fastback with stripes and decals that harken back to Ford’s racing heritage. This 1968 Mustang fastback race car is a special product that adds even more excitement to Ford’s LEGO Speed Champions lineup.”

75884 3

The 1968 Ford Mustang (75884), alongside the Ford Fiesta WRC rally car (75885), Ferrari 488 GT3 “Scuderia Corsa” (75886), Porsche 919 Hybrid (75887), Porsche 911 RSR and 911 Turbo 3.0 double pack (75888), and the Ferrari Ultimate Garage with 3 cars (75889), all goes on sale March 1.
