More and more information is slowly crawling its way over the internet regarding LEGO’s next major brick-built film, following the success of The LEGO Batman Movie. Scheduled for a theatrical release this September, The LEGO Ninjago Movieis expected to draw in a large following, especially that it has 14 LEGO sets (which will be available sometime in August) and a collectible minifigures tied-in to it. We saw some of these sets already via LEGO Rebrick’s contest page and DK’s collection of TLNM books.
This time around, thanks to an insider info from The Brick Fan, we now more information on how these sets will be like, particularly with regards to their set names, Euro pricing and the minifigures included in them.
As Brickset pointed out, we can expect another LEGO D2C for this theme, offering at around $300 price point, plus a handful of retailer exclusives as well. Are you excited about these LEGO Ninjago Movie sets? Let us know in the comments below, or join in the discussions over our Facebook page.
The LEGO Ideas blog site has announced the first projects to qualify for 2017’s LEGO Ideas Review Stage, consisting of eleven exciting builds depicting several retro-themed sets from the 80s and 90s. The qualifying period ended Monday morning, May 1st at 12AM CET signifying the end of a long journey for most of these projects. These projects represent potential LEGO set concepts that garnered the needed thumbs-up votes from 10,000 supporters between the months of January until early May of this year. I have a few personal favorites from among these projects, particularly the SEGA Classic Arcade Machines by SpacySmoke, and Venetian Houses by McMarco.
Here are the rest of the LEGO Ideas projects that made it to this year’s first Review Stage in no particular order.
The results of the Third 2016 LEGO Review Stageare still on its way, with 13 awesome projects waiting for the coveted thumbs up signal from the LEGO Ideas Design Team.
Among these projects, is one that I’ve been cheering on from the sidelines since it qualified last 2016. I’m still crossing our fingers for Voltron: Defender of the Universe by Lendy Tayag and hopefully we’ll here words from the LEGO Ideas Review Team by June or July.
We’re one with the legion of Star Wars fans in celebrating this month’s May the 4th Celebrations, and just when you thought that visiting any LEGO Brand Store couldn’t be any better this month of May, LEGO has now released its June Store Calendar with great promos, events, and plenty of mini-builds that are surely irresistible. Take a look at your local LEGO Store’s June activities as you can see from the calendar below. You may also download the LEGO Store June Calendar in pdf format right here.
June 1: Get the new exclusive LEGO Creator Expert Carousel (10257)!
Beginning June 1st, fans of the LEGO Fairground theme will be able to purchase the LEGO Creator Expert Carousel (10257). We came to know of its offering when, a few days ago, we saw a snapshot of it a few days ago. The following day, it was officially revealed by LEGO and it was simply gorgeous. Coming at 2,670 pieces set 10257 will retail at $199.99 and will be exclusively available at all LEGO Brand Stores and at shop.LEGO.com.

This offer is exclusively available in all LEGO Brand Stores and at shop.LEGO.com for every single receipt purchase of any LEGO product worth $35 and above. If you recall, we’ve got an early hint of the LEGO Minifigure Travel Pack last February. The set is made up of 41 pieces: a tourist minifigure, a LEGO Store Passport, and quite a handful of minifig accessories.
June 1-26: Build a base camp for the Rebel Alliance, complete with Star Wars ships, droids and more.
It seems that the Force is still strong at all LEGO stores even for the month of June. Since last April, LEGO has been offering an in-store, building activity where kids and kids-at-heart may participate in building the Rebel Alliance base camp. Snap a photo of your creation and upload it to the LEGO Life app to receive a pair of wearable Yoda ears while supplies last. This building activity is for children ages 6-14 only.

The exclusive LEGO VIP Key Chain (853303) is valid for newly joining VIP members from June 1 to December 31, 2017 or while supplies last. June 15-30: Free exclusive Canvas Tote Bag with purchases of $199 or more.
It’s nice to see that even though the LEGO Canvas Tote Bag(5005326) is somehow similar to 2011’s LEGO Large Tote Bag (853261), there is still some difference in its style and design. The Canvas Tote Bag comes free with purchases of any LEGO merchandise for a minimum purchase of $199 or while supplies last.
June 15-30: VIPs get early access to a new exclusive LEGO set.
There has been plenty of rumors floating around that this exclusive July D2C may in fact be the LEGO Minecraft The Mountain Cave (21137). Hailed as the largest LEGO Minecraft set to date, with plenty of mobs, characters and play features, the Mountain Cave is expected to be at around 3,000 pieces and with a price point of around $300. Please do note that this is just our best guess since the set was teased by LEGO last month.
I just find it rather odd that LEGO has prominently featured the Marvel heroes of the GOTG Vol. 2 for its June Store Calendar, though all of its related sets were released already in April, and that the store calendars itself does not feature these sets, save for The Milano vs. The Abilisk (76081)which was featured in the May LEGO Store Calendar.
When I first saw Thor: Ragnarok’s official teaser trailer a few weeks ago, the one thing that captured my attention was the superb ‘storytelling’ of the Asgardian god himself and the hard-rockin’ tune that goes with it. Throw in some GOTG-style humor into the mix, and you have a teaser trailer that says, ‘this next Thor film will be helluva different!”//giphy.com/embed/xkzG4BR1iiyOI
The teaser itself gives several hints on what LEGO has in store for its Marvel Super Heroes line, and this time around, thanks to Brickset, we now know what these sets are. Check out their official box arts below.
This set features the minifigures of Hela, Valkyrie, Bruce Banner, Thor, and two Berserkers. Interestingly, it also features a brick-built form of a wolf that closely resembles Fenrir, the mythological son of Loki, who is bound by the Norse gods until he breaks free on the day of Ragnarok. I guess this set depicts the climax of the film, similar to what LEGO does with Captain America: Civil War Super Hero Airport Battle (76051). I am also curious on why LEGO opted to have Hela mounted on a movable platform. Unless, the designers would like to make her look like Lord Business from the LEGO Movie(which I sincerely doubt), then I guess it is probably a cue on how this final battle will unfold. Another prominent feature of the set is the circular ship piloted by Valkyrie as she joins the fray. It’s kind of intriguing how her character will be instrumental in the fight for Asgard since we only see her ship (if she is indeed piloting this ship as the teaser trailer suggest) heading over to what seems to be a final showdown of sorts.
Another thing that I noticed is that Thor’s minifigure form sports a glowing pair of blue eyes. Bruce Banner may likewise turn into the Hulk at any moment as hinted by his pair of glowing, green eyes as well. As expected, Thor is still not wielding Mjolnir since the latter was single-handedly destroyed by Hela, but seeing him battle her forces head on without his mystical hammer and a with only a god-like rage on his face, with Banner along side that may turn anytime into the Hulk, this is one MCU film that will surely rock. We do not have a piece count as of the moment, but the price point for 76084 is set at USD49.99 or 54.99 Euros.
This set is a winner in itself probably because of the bigfig, gladiator version of the Hulk with all his armaments and war printing. One thing I noticed though is that Thor is missing some of the few weapons of his own, especially that screwdriver-like mace that he was holding at the start of their match. It will be a nice addition if LEGO has also included the shield that Thor was carrying if they intend the set to be a faithful representation of that particular scene.
Though it may be nice to see Thor’s mace and the shield included in this set, I couldn’t help but feel that the god of thunder is in a strong disadvantage against the rampaging Hulk. Try battling an armored green monster with an oversized screwdriver and a garbage can for a shield and see how it might feel – well, you get the point. Set 76088 will retail for USD59.99 or 69.99 Euros.
Disney and Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is slated to debut on the big screen on November 3, around the same time when Doctor Strange was released last year (November 4 to be exact), so we can probably expect these LEGO Marvel Super Hero Thor: Ragnarok sets to be out in the market sometime in August, same as when Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060) was released.
UPDATE: It looks like the original article was removed by Brickset. We might probably do the same if we will hear official words from LEGO.
We have some fun this week! After watching the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer, we looked it over to see which scenes we could build a mock set off of. For our first one, we choose the clip where Luke Skywalker is training Rey. We even came up with a pretty neat box art for it.
Our master builder, Tyler Clites, has put together a fun “set” MOC that includes 2 minifigures and roughly 140 pieces. Play features include a rotating platform and collapsible bricks. Check out the video below.
How do you look cool if you’re a superhero? Just follow how Star-Lord does it together with his motley crew of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Want something even better than that? Create brick-built versions of them! We are so excited about MCU’s next big film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, that we couldn’t help but ask ourselves on how to render the likes of Peter Quill (aka Star Lord), Gamora, Rocket, Groot, and the rest of the gang in the most excellent LEGO MOC possible. Thankfully, we have Tyler once again to help us with that.
We know that Tyler is one of the world’s best LEGO builders there is, and he is back once again with another series of MOCS over at our YouTube channel. Following his debut on the Brick Show featuring the adorable builds from the Monster Series, Tyler puts his brick-building skills to hyperdrive once more and has come up with not just 1, but 8 character builds based on the next, big MCU film.
These builds are very much impressive in themselves that it will not come as a surprise if ever LEGO will think about having them as official sets (well, anyone can dream right?). Check out Tyler’s videos below as he talks about the various building techniques and challenges that he encountered building these LEGO GOTG Vol. 2 MOCs.
Star Lord
Gamora
Rocket Raccoon and Baby Rocket
Drax
Yondu
Mantis
Nebula
We still have one more GOTG Vol. 2 MOC to unveil during the weekend so better stick around. Can you guess what is Tyler’s next GOTG Vol. 2 character build? You may find the rest of Tyler’s MOCs by heading over at our YouTube channel. So what do you think about Tyler’s latest creations? Be sure to stay tuned here at the Brick Show for more of the coolest MOCs that Tyler has in the works. Disney and Marvel’sGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to open in theaters in the US starting May 5 next week.
UPDATE: We now have Tylers’ last GOTG Vol. 2 MOC posted on YouTube, and it is none other than Nebula! It seems that she’s already gotten over her ‘sister issues’ with Gamora and things will work well for the crew except for the death of… ooops… sorry about the spoilers. Saw the movie already last Sunday from where I am. 🙂
Be sure to catch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on Friday, May 5.
The long wait is finally over. After many weeks of teasing on the arrival of the largest ever LEGO Ideas set to date, Hasan Jansen of the LEGO Ideas blog site has finally broken the news. As LEGO’s 2nd Ideas set for this year right on the heels of Adventure Time (21308), the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) will be available to the public beginning 1st of June. The brainchild of LEGO and space fans Felix Stiessen (saabfan) and Valérie Roche (whatsuptoday), the towering set (standing one meter high) is their personal tribute to NASA’s iconic Apollo Space Program.
This space-bound set clocks in at 1,969 pieces which is, quite cleverly, a sort of an Easter egg for Apollo Saturn V’s successful launch on July 20, 1969. At such scale, the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) is currently the largest LEGO Ideas set that will be offered to the public. The LEGO Ideas Design Team was keen in rendering the set as accurately as possible, keeping it at an approximately 1:110 scale of the original Saturn V rocket with all its offload sections, lunar lander, command service module, and three, never-before-seen microfigs of NASA’s heroes: astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.
Build the first rocket to land people on the Moon!
Display and role-play with this majestic meter-high LEGO® brick model of the NASA Apollo Saturn V packed with authentic details. It features three removable rocket courses, including the S-IVB third course with the lunar lander and lunar orbit.
The set includes 3 booths to display the model horizontally, 3 new-for-June-2017 astronaut microfigures for role-play recreations of the Moon landings, plus a booklet about the manned Apollo missions and the fan designers of this educational and inspirational LEGO Ideas set.
Features a meter-high (Approximately 1: 110 scale) model of the NASA Apollo Saturn V with a removable S-IC first rocket internship with hand rocket engine details, removable S-II second rocket internship with rocket engine details, removable S-IVB third rocket internship with the Apollo spacecraft and rescue rocket at top of the whole spacecraft, plus 3 booths to display the model horizontally.

Earlier, we featured an article that points out to the possibility of seeing another D2C, Fairground set anytime soon. The hint was shared by Brick Geeks through an image they glimpsed on LEGO’s June Store Calendar. Now the rumors turn out to be confirmed, save for the correction to the set’s complete name and set number – we now have our first look at the official images of the LEGO Creator Expert Carousel (10257)! It was previously thought that the set refers to 10256, but based on the following images, it carries with it the set number 10257. It also features a prominently yellow and ‘bubblegum’ blue color scheme. The builds for the rides are pretty sweet themselves, which features five brick-built animals: a swan, elephant, flamingo (I personally like this one), tiger, and a frog. It may also be motorized by adding optional power functions, or simply turn the crank to have the entire carousel rotate. The rides move up and down as well as in sync with the carousel’s rotation. The LEGO Expert Carousel (10257) will be available exclusively at all LEGO brand stores and at shop.LEGO.com beginning June 1.
Check out the following images right after LEGO’s official press release, which you can find below.
