Have Your Very Own Custom LEGO Disney Castle – in Micro Scale.

Alright, I know I may have probably pushed it a little bit with that headline, especially if you’re looking for a way to snag that ridiculously large LEGO Disney Castle (71040). It is an impressive set no doubt, so much so that it even caught the attention of the Beckhams, Kardashians and other A-list celebrities last year. Standing at almost 2 ½ feet tall, and more than 1 ½  feet wide, the LEGO Disney Castle (71040) is one majestically built set that any Disney fan would love to have. This time around, Build Better Bricks gives tribute to this iconic symbol of Disney magic by coming up with their very own micro scaled, custom LEGO Disney Castle. Designed by Master Builders Tyler Clites and Sean Mayo, this custom LEGO Disney Castle is the perfect, smaller scaled version of the original set, a perfect fit to adorn any Disney AFOL’s desk.

Coming in at 427 pieces, this micro scaled version measures 7.6 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and 3.5 inches deep. Put A Smile on Thanos’ Face With This Next LEGO Custom Character Bust From Build Better Bricks!

We’re less than 4 months away before the theatrical release of the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Infinity War, and just before this galaxy spanning MCU event takes place on May 4, the official trailer has already become the number 1 trending video over on YouTube in just a matter of days, proving how much fans have patiently waited to see our Marvel heroes face off against their ultimate nemesis. LEGO has already covered much of Avengers: Infinity War, with six sets and four LEGO BrickHeadz specifically built for the film. Check out what we know so far about these sets right here.

Very much the same as that from the comic books, MCU’s Avengers: Infinity War follows the trail of destruction led by the film’s main antagonist, the Mad Titan himself, Thanos, as he seeks to gather the Infinity Stones for his bid of subjugating the entire universe under his command. Such power under his control can only mean the imminent destruction of the universe as we know it – well thankfully, it’s just in the comics.

In honor of this iconic Marvel villain, Tyler and Sean decided to have their next LEGO custom character bust dedicated to the purple-skinned Mad Titan. This newest model in their series of character bust features the classic Thanos as he is seen from the comic books. Check out this video from Build Better Bricks as Tyler explains the details of their latest creation. Just forgive Tyler for the Barnie jokes afterwards.

Tyler and Sean’s use of bright light orange and blue pieces really stood out in this custom LEGO Thanos bust. The way they managed to replicate the Mad Titan’s facial expression, with his trademark oversized chin with all its vertical lines is really spot on. At 5.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide, this custom LEGO character bust managed to capture Thanos’ proportions without sacrificing how he actually looks. As always, I like how Tyler and Sean managed to proportionally shape Thanos’ head in such miniature scale, using only 297 LEGO pieces.

Thanos

If you wish to add this unique rendition of the ultimate cosmic warlord to your LEGO creations, then be sure to check Build Better Bricks on how to download the instructions for making this custom LEGO Thanos character bust – and then perhaps, you can put a smile on the face of this Mad Titan.

LEGO City Become My City Hero (40302) Polybag Official Image + Building Instructions.

If you recall, we previously reported on a new LEGO City polybag that was spotted in Spain’s First LEGO Certified Store last December. The LEGO City Become My City Hero (40302) polybag went for sale at the said LCS, retailing for 4.99 Euros. As it seems, it is an add-on for LEGO City’s more recent Mountain Police subtheme. Now that we have its official image, we can now take a look at the finer details of this latest LEGO City polybag. Check this out.

scaled 40302 Prod

polybagThis  comes in at approximately 90-130 pieces, with a Mountain Police/Ranger and dog minifigure plus a couple of smaller builds that looks like a hideout for crooks to keep their stolen gold and cash, and some log pieces. We don’t have details yet on this polybag’s availability but in case you want to give it a try and make this set, LEGO has uploaded 40302’s building instructions via its customer service portal. Check out and see if you have the parts to build this one.

Though there is no new element or piece that was introduced in the LEGO City Become My City Hero (40302) polybag, it’s a great way to get an additional Mountain Police and dog minifigures. We’ll keep our radars open once this polybag becomes available in the US, so keep tabs with us here on the Brick Show.

New LEGO Ninjago 2018 Polybag: “Sons of Garmadon” Turbo Racer (30532) with Building Instructions.

LEGO Ninjago has been one of the most popular and top-selling product lines for LEGO, with some impressive minifigure designs, vehicle models and building sets having come out in years past, especially after The LEGO Ninjago Movie from last year. However, not all LEGO Ninjago stuff is in big boxes.

They come in little polybag packages too, like this recent Sons of Garmadon Lloyd’s Turbo Racer (30532). Not only does it have a simple-to-assemble, yet tricked-out, go-kart vehicle in the vein of LEGO’s Mighty Micros vehicle set line, it also has a Lloyd minifigure garbed in his Wu Cru black costume.

Having already come out in LEGO Stores at the start of this New Year, the LEGO Ninjago Turbo set #30532 is one highly-wanted polybag. It’s probably why LEGO has just uploaded the building instructions for it. The turbo racer’s fairly basic, with room for Lloyd and slots for his weapons. Check out this building instructions and see if you have the necessary pieces to build this chibi-sized set.

These Are the Custom LEGO Star Wars Character Busts You’re Looking For

Master Builders Tyler and Sean are back with another series of LEGO MOCs inspired by the recent release of Star Wars The Last Jedi. These LEGO Star Wars character busts are based on a stylized, cartoony version of Luke Skywalker (based on old man Luke from TLJ), Yoda, Darth Maul, and a First Order Stormtrooper. I simply couldn’t overemphasize the degree of complexity and advanced building techniques that went through the creation of these character busts. As Tyler noted, these custom LEGO Star Wars Character Busts may look simple on the outside, but the building magic really happens on the inside.

Particularly, I like the way how Luke’s gray hair was conveyed using light and dark gray slope pieces. The way Yoda’s eyes were recreated and the angle of his eyebrows gives this Jedi Master character bust a certain degree of personality. Additionally, the use of lime green color for Yoda was really spot on.

Darth Maul is really in a class of his own. As my favorite Sith Lord from the Star Wars prequels, I certainly won’t mind giving him some space in my LEGO Star Wars collection. The red and black color scheme really fits his character, not to mention Tyler and Sean’s excellent use of those white tooth pieces to replicate his iconic horns. This is one Sith character bust that you definitely don’t want to mess with.

Finally, we have what I feel is the epitome of Tyler and Sean’s brick-building skills. This LEGO Star Wars MOC First Order Stormtrooper bust clearly showcases the depth of their building skills. The helmet design, and the way the LEGO pieces are aligned in such a way to give the bust a smooth, and sleek appearance is really awesome. Admittedly, this is the toughest model that Sean and Tyler ever made in this series.

If you wish to have these LEGO Star Wars Character Busts added to your collection, then you’ll be glad to know that Build Better Bricks is running a promo where you can get all the four building instructions to create these character busts for a discounted price of $15. You still have the option of purchasing each individual set of instructions per character bust for just $5, but at 25% discount to get all four, that is one nice bargain you don’t want to miss.

New BriXtar App a Growing Favorite for LEGO Fans and Builders.

LEGO is such a wide-ranging and transcendent play experience that it can go beyond just playing with real bricks and minifigures. There are the licensed videogames and apps too, that give the gamer access to LEGO items with which to realize his flights of fancies. From LEGO Worlds to the yet-to-be released LEGO Studio-AR, the virtual LEGO experience is robust.

Adding to the virtual LEGO experience then, is an app for the online service BriXtar. It was launched only last month but already, thousands of LEGO builders and fans have signed up for it and have downloaded the app on Google Play and the App Store.

38317059045 212341e093 b

BriXtar is a free app that offers a novel way for builders to share their LEGO MOCs online in 3D renditions via smartphone and tablet. The charm point here is, when a builder using digital LEGO creation software will upload their MOC files to BriXtar, the app can immediately generate instructions by which other builders can replicate the MOC in 3D.

38317058915 294a69a66a b

The app also comes with a 3D viewer that will enable users to check out uploaded 3D MOCs through any angle or view by rotation or zooming of the image. Finally, BriXtar also has an online database where users can register their actual LEGO sets. The app can then show the user what MOCs uploaded on the platform can be replicated by them using their brick collections.

Further information on the BriXtar web service and app along with download links, can be found in their official website here.

Inside Look at the Mechanics of Building the Shanghai Centre Tower on LEGO Architect Shanghai (21039) Set

While the official worldwide release of the LEGO Architecture Shanghai (21039) building set won’t be until January 1st of 2018, residents of the city in question will already have a head start in acquiring this superb example of brick building design. LEGO stores in Shanghai and in Shanghai Disneyland will have already started carrying set 21039 since Saturday, December 2.

640 1

To those who need a refresher, LEGO Architecture Shanghai (21039) replicates six well-known structures in the iconic Chinese port city. Four of them are veritable skyscrapers, the tallest of which is the unique Shanghai Centre Building with the twisting shape.

 Shanghai Tower 2015

If you’re curious as to how the twist of the Shanghai Centre Building was translated into interconnecting LEGO bricks, the mechanics were revealed online by builder NateV, who posted screenshots of the building process for the skyscraper, of which the real structure is the third tallest in the world, behind only the Tokyo Skytree and Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

38111235284 03ea27593c b24954676458 f255c77037 b

LEGO Architecture simply needed to copy the building design for the Shanghai Centre Building, which are actually nine building segments stacked atop each other. As seen above, the ground-level structure is a base for support pillars wherein the flat blocks representing each of the 127 floors is then threaded and stacked. Every boundary of the building segment is represented by a light-colored brick.

After the floor blocks are stacked, the builder only needs to twist the structure to replicate the actual building.

24954677148 2e15930963 b

It’s an impressive mechanical design that will surely fire up the imaginations of anyone buying the LEGO Architecture Shanghai (21039) building set, whether in Shanghai now, or later globally at the start of the New Year.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) Set Revealed – Building Instructions Now Available Online.

A few moments ago, I reported that LEGO has recently uploaded a new stash of building instructions for this month of December, including the last to be revealed LEGO Nexo Knights set, Lance’s Hover Jouster (72001). Brickset took the liberty of gathering them in one place so you can have a quick overview of what LEGO has made available on its servers. To our surprise, LEGO has also revealed its next seasonal, commemorative set to celebrate 2018’s Lunar New Year. This year, we saw the Year of the Rooster (40234) as 2017’s seasonal set, and for 2018, we have the Year of the Dog (40235) seasonal set to look forward to. Here’s how the set looks like based on its building instructions as uploaded by LEGO.

40235 1

Coming in at 155 pieces, it is interesting to note that since 2016’s Year of the Monkey (40207) seasonal set, LEGO seems to have been observing a common design for these Lunar New Year commemorative sets – each of them following a straightforward build, resting on a circular baseplate as pointed out by Brickfinder. Will this be a regular thing from LEGO? I guess only time can tell. The Year of the Dog (40235) may likely come as another LEGO Store promotional (a gift with purchase set) that comes with a minimum purchase amount of any LEGO set. I’ll give you updates as soon as more news comes in, and for the meantime, you may want to check out the parts list for this set below and see if you can build this little puppy using the LEGO bricks that you have.

Thanks you once again to Brickset for the tip.

2018 LEGO Nexo Knights Lance’s Hover Jouster (72001) Finally Revealed.

The latest 2018 LEGO Nexo Knights are now on sale both in-store and online at shop.LEGO.com. However, since the release of Season 5’s latest sets earlier in November, there is one set is noticeably missing from the reveals. With 5 out of 6 sets already unveiled, we still yet to see an image of Lance’s newest battle gear against the latest threat of tech infection – until today. Thanks to Brickset’s updated list of published instructions for this month of December, we now have an idea of how the LEGO Nexo Knights Lance’s Hover Jouster (72001) will look like. It’s kind of odd actually to see that the building instructions for this set are already available online, even before the official images are released. Nevertheless, it gives us a glimpse of this set as we can see from the image below.

scaled 72001 p1

Same as the rest of the sets in this wave of Nexo Knights sets, Lance’s Hover Jouster (72001) comes with two separate builds. The main build consists of the Hover Jouster, while the second one is a creepy looking version of a Cyberbyter, whose lower torso is made up spider-like robotic legs. Imagine Babyface from Toy Story and you’ll get the idea.

scaled 01 72001 p1 scaled 02 72001 p1

Frankly speaking, I’m expecting more from the Hover Jouster in terms of keeping with the aesthetics of the rest of the sets in this series. By far, this is the least appealing among the rest of this Nexo Knights subtheme, with the Hover Jouster looking more like a mobile turret rather than any particular type of vehicle as seen in the latest series. To create the build’s ‘hovering’ effect, the wheels below the Hover Jouster are cleverly hidden from sight using several 2×4 plates with brackets. The wheels also seem to pivot beneath the circular plates where they are attached. I believe the designers could have done better – perhaps even better than Season 1’s Lance’s Mecha Horse (70312) and the subsequent Lance vs. Lightning (70359) set. It gives me the impression that this set was designed hurriedly, without giving much thought on how it can fit to the overall feel of the latest series.

The set is not that all bad though, since one of the main selling points of these latest Nexo Knights sets are its impressive use of black and trans green parts to create the vehicles and other builds for the Cyberbyters. As I pointed out in my earlier post, the choice of color scheme for Knighton’s latest threat is a good call which gives the set a sort of revived interest for the classic LEGO Space theme particularly for the Blacktron series. The bionic looking, spider-like Cyberbyter in this set is also impressive in spite of its relatively easy build. My only criticism is that I wish the minifigure torso is resting on a rotating circular plate so it can turn from left to right as an added play feature.

The LEGO Nexo Knights Lance’s Hover Jouster (72001) comes in at 218 pieces and is expected to retail for $19.99. So what do you think about this set? Will you pick this up once it appears on toy shelves? Share what you think in the comments below.
