2018’s LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) Officially Revealed.

After a few weeks of rumors and speculation regarding a leaked image of what could be 2018’s first LEGO Creator Modular, we now have the official word from LEGO on what this set is going to be. Announced via social media channels and at shop.LEGO.com, the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) will be available starting January 1, 2018.

The set is absolutely gorgeous with its 1950s downtown American diner styling that gives off a nostalgic vibe. I particularly like the standout Diner signage, along with the pink convertible. Similar to the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922), the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner will not have an early VIP access, but instead will be available for all beginning January 1 across all LEGO brand stores and at shop.LEGO.com. The set comes in at 2,480 pieces and features six minifigures, retailing for $169.99. Here’s the official product description along with a huge stash of crisp images.

LEGO Flyers for VIPs Can Avail of Returning Seasonal Minifigure Gingerbread Man (5005156).

Even casual LEGO fans are well aware of the many special packages the company brings out at the onset of the major seasons and events of the year. Why, just this November they already have announced what’s going to be in store for collectors during the Easter celebration next year.

But really, the current big buzz is for the various special offers flying around during the Holiday season. In this case, we mean it literally with the flying, as in, flyers. LEGO is shipping out some special fliers to their VIP members to announce the comeback of a Holiday seasonal standard.

LEGO VIPs need only to head to the nearest LEGO Store, present their promotional flyer along with any product purchase worth at least $10, and they’ll receive the LEGO Seasonal Gingerbread Man minifgure (5005156) absolutely free. Take note however that the offer will take for only up till December 23.

The LEGO Gingerbread Man (5005156) was first presented in this Holiday offer last year, so this is his second outing as a giveaway for collectors. He’s not alone, either. Shop@Home has the online version, with their return of the $9.99 LEGO Seasonal Snowglobe (40223).

The LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922) Designer Video Is Unique as the Set Itself.

This year’s next LEGO Batman Movie D2C set has now been released, and in just three days since its official release last Brick Friday, the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922) has been in high demand, so much so that only backorders are currently accepted over at shop.LEGO.com., and fans of the LEGO film and theme will have to wait until December 11 for their sets to be released.

The overwhelming response and positive reviews that the set received doesn’t come as a surprise. The Joker Manor (70922) is by far the most visually creative and technically sophisticated TLBM set that LEGO master designers ever came up with it. It is so unique in itself – with all its crazy fun color scheme and inclusion of new elements, that even its Designer Video comes to us in a quite unorthodox way. Featuring interviews with the set’s top-notch designers Marcos Bessa (LEGO Senior Designer) and Paul-Constantin Turcanu (LEGO Senior Graphic Designer), this latest LEGO Designer Video pays tribute to The Joker Manor in a rather maverick way.

Other than highlighting the cool features of The Joker Manor, we get to hear a little bit of a backstory on the career of Marcos Bessa and how he started in LEGO 7 years ago, and as he eventually become one of the company’s Senior Designers. It also boasts of 10 unique minifigures, most of it you can only find in this mammoth rendition of the vandalized Wayne Manor. Considered by fans as one of the many highlights of this set, the Joker Manor also comes with a functional roller coaster that goes around the build itself.

As of the moment, The Joker Manor (70922) is only on backorders at shop.LEGO.com to be received by December 11, and is currently not available via Amazon or any other online toy stores. If you haven’t purchased your own set, and you’re willing to wait until then, then better place your order ASAP because you don’t know if this set will also have the same fate like that of the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) and the even more close-to-impossible to find, LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192).

The LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922) Now Up at shop.LEGO.com!

We’re just counting the minutes away before LEGO opens its Brick Friday doors to its eagerly waiting fans, and one set that we have our eyes on is the technically crazy, eye candy of a set, the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922). First revealed last September, LEGO impressed TLBM fans with Joker’s wacky rendition of the Wayne Mansion, especially with the inclusion of a functional roller coaster ride. The best part of it, The Joker Manor does not come with any VIP early access privilege so when the clock strikes at 11:59PM EST on November 23, you should be ready with that keyboard.

So far, The Joker Manor has received plenty of positive reviews already, with many AFOLs even tinkering with the set’s train or railing system by including power functions to make the roller coaster move on its own. The Brothers Brick has ingeniously found a way on how to do this, and you can check it out right here.

More 2018 LEGO Technic Sets Revealed!

After the reveal of the first wave of LEGO Technic sets for 2018, it seems that LEGO still has plenty of sets hidden under its sleeve. Dutch toy store BrickFever has uploaded official images of four additional LEGO Technic sets slated for next year. The best one in my opinion is the faithful representation of the behemoth of the Mack Anthem (42078). From a distance, it’s kind of hard not to think of it as an actual truck. Are We To See 2018’s LEGO Creator Expert Diner (10260) Set Anytime Soon?

This month of November saw the reveal of a handful of 2018 LEGO sets: from the latest Nexo Knights, LEGO Batman Movie, and just recently the Justice League BrickHeadz. Furthermore, since the re-release of the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) and LEGO Creator Expert Taj Mahal (10256), LEGO fans have been wondering, are we to expect a trend of re-releases among LEGO’s larger sets? Brickset has written an excellent piece of commentary on the topic that shows us how LEGO designed set re-releases in the past and how it can be the direction LEGO is planning to take today with regards to future sets.

Now that most of the major LEGO themes were already represented during these waves of reveals, people are asking, what will be the next LEGO Creator Expert Modular set? For the record, LEGO Creator modular fans are actively discussing in various forums, sharing their best guesses on what could this be, and this time the guessing game might finally be over. Other than the fact that Brickset has recently updated their database to include a LEGO Creator Expert Diner (10260), a social media user on Chinese social media platform, Weixin, posted an image of a flyer that features what seems to be next year’s modular building. Additionally, Hungarian toy shop Kockashop also listed the said modular set, but oddly enough, seems to have a different set number: 10261-Confidential – Expert 2 2018. The set is also offered at a retail price of 99,990 Forint or roughly $379.

The said post from Weixin also suggests that the said modular will fit nicely together with the Assembly Square (10255), and in a similar vein together with the Parisian Restaurant (10243) and the first ever modular, the very rare and uber expensive Café Corner (10182). As it seems, and if this is confirmed by LEGO any time soon, the LEGO Creator Expert Diner modular is not exactly a re-release but offers an alternative dining place as compared to the Parisian. I like the idea of an alternative dining area, but the modular line has been long criticized for not including any key town places such as a school, police station or perhaps an arcade/gaming area.

We will watch this closely during the next few days, where LEGO is expected to give an official announcement. What is your take on this brick fans? Do you think LEGO Creator Expert Diner will be a hit?

2018 LEGO Batman Movie Sets Revealed!

After much speculation last July on what could be included in the list of LEGO’s 2018 sets including those from the LEGO Batman Movie theme, we now have a pretty good look at the latest TLBM sets that are slated for release in January. Courtesy of The Brothers Brick, this next wave of sets from the LEGO Batman Movie includes a very nice collection of minifigures that most fans are waiting for. Other than the 2^nd series of TLBM Collectible Minifigures, these sets have an awesome roster of new minifigs that will complement both Batman’s Rogue List and those from the Justice League. We don’t have a piece count, pricing and official product description just yet, but we’ll sure keep you posted once LEGO officially releases them. For the mean time, let’s enjoy these images.

For what it looks like, the Bat-Dune Buggy is perhaps the smallest build in this series, with a closer to the film rendition of Captain Boomerang as compared to how we see him in LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Killer Croc Sewer Smash (76055). The build of the Bat-Dune Buggy is also kind of sleek and will be a good addition to the theme’s other smaller builds such as the Catwoman Catcycle Chase (70902).

It’s nice of LEGO to finally grant what most LEGO DC fans are asking for with the inclusion of a Justice League Anniversary Party set. However, I must admit that the overall build of this set is a bit of underwhelming. I’m glad that we can somehow complete our roster of JL minifigures, but the stage itself is a bit out of proportions as we see in the film – smaller than what I expected. But for all it’s worth, and especially if you’re aiming to collect all known LEGO Justice League minifigures and see all of them hanging around, then the Justice League Party (70919) is a good set to begin with. Too bad there is no Gleek minifigure, to accompany Wonder Dog.

The Egghead Mech Food Fight (70920) will probably be my personal pick. LEGO nailed it with this one, combining both the intimidating features of a battle suit and the wackiness of having fried eggs as your armaments of choice. The build of Egghead’s mech suit is reminiscent of 2007’s LEGO Exo-Force theme were LEGO explored the possibilities of creating high tech mechanical battle suits piloted by battle-ready minifigs. Since it is supposedly a food fight, take it to LEGO to throw in one of the experts in the field (pun intended): Condiment King. It was already teased several times that the dispenser-wielding baddie will be part of an official LEGO set and I’m glad that he finally did. The stud shooter is one of my favorite piece/element in any LEGO set, but I feel that it will be much better for Condiment King if he will be holding a pair of actual dispensers instead. Nevertheless, I love this set and I hope to have my hands on this one once it goes for sale in January.

Those who are looking for Gentleman Ghost will be delighted to know that he is now officially available as a minifig that comes with the Harley Quinn Cannonball Attack (70921). Not only that, but LEGO throws in another new minifigure in the character of Crazy Quilt. I have to say that LEGO did a really nice job in offering a crazy cool collection of baddies in this series.

For what it looks like, this last set in this series is the second TLBM set that offers a sort of bat suit collection, next to the earlier Batcave Break-In (70909) set. The Bat Space Shuttle (70923) not only offers a nice addition to the Dark Knight’s collection of signature vehicles such as a kayak, cart, and a space shuttle (I just couldn’t imagine why Batman will need a space shuttle in his Batcave), but we also have another collection of Batman’s outfits such as the Firestarter, Reggae Man, and the Bat Spacesuit. Know I’ve really lost count on how many LEGO batsuits are there in existence.

The 2018 LEGO Batman Movie sets are expected to hit toy stores in January next year so we can expect to see more official images and product descriptions during the next few weeks.

2018 LEGO Polybags Revealed!

If there is one thing that I am fond of collecting other than the latest collectable minifigure series from LEGO (I’m particularly looking forward to add to my collection the LEGO Batman Movie CMF Series 2), these are the latest polybag offerings that often times end up as exclusives. It’s nice of LEGO to also give some attention to this particular niche among its sets, and thanks to YouTuber Freedom Bricks, we now have an idea on what LEGO has in the works for next year’s series of polybags.

As it seems, we are to expect no less than 15 polybag sets in 2018 coming from LEGO’s various themes. Though the images are not that crisp as compared to official ones, we can have a fair amount of information on their set names and number. We don’t have a piece count yet on each of these polybags including their availability, but the pictures themselves are clear enough so we can see what they have to offer.

I personally like LEGO’s selection of City polybags, especially the Hotdog Stand and Road Worker. They are great additions to any City-style MOCs or modular sets that you might be working on. The LEGO Creator Cute Pug is also a must have, since this is the very first Creator polybag that comes like a 3-in-1 set. I’ll definitely go on a LEGO hunt for these goodies.
