LEGO Disney Villain Icons and Disney Duos Sets Revealed!

Australian LEGO Certified Store Bricks Megastore has recently revealed two new sets in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, showcasing some of the less celebrated characters from our favorite Disney films. The 18+ set LEGO Disney Villain Icons (43227) and the 6+ set LEGO Disney Duos (43226) both offer something unique and exciting for Disney fans and LEGO enthusiasts alike. Let’s check these out.

LEGO Disney Villain Icons (43227)

lego disney villain

The LEGO Disney Villain Icons sets focus on some of the most iconic villains from classic Disney films. And for Disney LEGO fans, this set offers an opportunity to collect the first LEGO minifigure versions of these memorable characters We have never-before-seen minifigure renditions of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, the Evil Queen in her disguised form from Snow White, and our first-ever minifig version of Jafar Genie from Aladdin. There’s also a newer version of Maleficent as seen in Sleeping Beauty.

43227 5 43227 4

The set also features a bunch of Disney memorabilia that is easily recognizable for avid Disney fans. We have a brick-built version of the poisoned apple from Snow White, and several storybooks that bear the title of the other films mentioned. It’s also nice that the typical LEGO humor is also seen in this set with the addition of a LEGO VHS tape bearing the title of the 1989 classic animated film The Little Mermaid. There’s also a reference to the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland in the likes of an actual brick card. Finally, it also includes Captain Hook’s brick-built pocket watch from the original 1953 film Peter Pan.

43227 3

While it’s quite a challenge to narrow down all the ideal LEGO Disney Villain to include in this set, I’m personally happy with this selection. This set, villainous as it may seem, adds a nice touch and ties in well with the LEGO Disney theme.

LEGO Disney Duos (43226)

lego disney villain

Like its villainous LEGO Disney Villain Icons counterpart, the LEGO Disney Duos set showcases some famous side character companions from various Disney films, from the older classics to newer releases.

43226 2

The buildable figures include Pua and Hei Hei from Moana, Squirt and Nemo from Finding Nemo, Meeko and Percy from Pocahontas, and the classic pair of Lumiere and Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast.

This set is perfect for younger children, aged 6+, who are just starting to get into LEGO and Disney. The buildable figures are not just loaded with fun play features, but they also make great collectibles and display for LEGO Disney fans of all ages.

Pricing and Release Date

While both sets are yet to make their official appearance at LEGO.com, Bricks Megastore marks both the LEGO Disney Villain Icons and LEGO Disney Duos sets for a July 1st release date. The latter is expected to retail for 209.99 AUD (or roughly 140 USD) and the former for 72.99 AUD (48 to 50 USD) as seen from the Australian LEGO certified store website. There’s also an option to pre-order these if you live anywhere near their stores.

And since this is already listed at LEGO partner stores, then I guess it’s just a matter of days before we see these sets make their official debut at LEGO’s official online shopping portal.

Overall, the LEGO Disney Villain Icons and Disney Duos sets are perfect for fans of Disney and LEGO alike. They offer unique and exciting collectibles that are sure to impress and delight forever Disney fans. Just be on the lookout for these sets and let us know if you spot them near your local LEGO Store. And as always, bookmark our website for the latest updates on these upcoming sets.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71038 Disney 100 Box Distribution Revealed

As you may already know, LEGO fans have 18 reasons to celebrate Disney’s centennial celebrations this year. Third in the series, the LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71038 Disney 100 was officially revealed last month and is set to arrive on May 1st in celebration of the House of Mouse’s 100th anniversary. With a bumper of 18 different characters, including Pinocchio, Mulan, Baymax, Cruella de Vil, and more, this new series is expected to be a hit with LEGO fans of all ages.

However, if you’re looking to get your hands on a specific minifigure, you’ll need to be strategic. The blind-bagged nature of these collectible minifigures means that you won’t know what you’re getting until you open the package. So, what are your options for getting the characters you want?

Box Distribution for the LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71038 Disney 100

It has been confirmed already that a single box of 36 packets should contain two complete sets of 18 minifigures. This means that if you buy a complete box of minifigures, you’re guaranteed to get your hands on the full batch of LEGO Disney 100th anniversary minifigures.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71038

However, if you’re only after a few characters, you may not want to spend the money on a full box. In that case, it’s worth knowing the complete box distribution to increase your chances of finding the characters you want. Fresh boxes typically have a consistent distribution of specific characters, so if you know where your favorites are located, you’ll have a better chance of finding them.

Early reviews of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71038 Disney 100 such as those from Ashnflash and Jay’s Brick Blog have confirmed the exact box distribution for the new series of blind-bagged characters, and where to find each character based on their particular placement inside their box.

Take a look at the table below.

FRONT OF THE BOX

Complete Box vs. Individual Packets

Buying a complete box of minifigures isn’t the only way to get your hands on the full set of characters. You could also split the cost with a friend and divide up the two sets between you. However, if you’re only after a handful of characters, buying individual packets may be your best option.

Feeling out the Characters Maybe Your Last Option

One of the ways to get the characters is to feel your way through the individual CMF packets. While this method can be effective, it’s not foolproof. It requires a good sense of touch and can be time-consuming. Plus considering the current post-pandemic situation, feeling your way through each bag is not a safe option as well.

Knowing the box distribution layout for the series can help improve your chances of finding your favorite characters. Keep in mind that this layout may not be 100% the same across every box, but it’s a good starting point. It can reduce the amount of time required if you’re fine with feeling each blind bag and improve your chances of finding the minifigures you want. Plus, with the rumored release of the second series of LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures in September, which is expected to switch to new cardboard packaging, knowing where each CMF is placed inside a fresh box may be the only method available to find your favorite characters.

For now, fans can look forward to adding the LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71038 Disney 100 to their collection and displaying them proudly to commemorate Disney’s 100th anniversary.

LEGO Disney Magical Treehouse (43215) Coming in June!

It looks like we can expect more LEGO Disney sets along the way as we count down the months before the titular House of Mouse celebrates its 100th year anniversary. Other than a lovely collection of LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures and LEGO Disney 100 sets, it looks like LEGO is now putting the spotlight on its renowned Disney Princesses. Arriving in June, the upcoming LEGO Disney Magical Treehouse (43215) set is expected to be a hit to all LEGO Disney minidoll collectors.

Though LEGO is still quite mum about it, South Korea’s search platform and online store Naver, has already listed this upcoming set. And what perhaps makes this set stand out is the fact that it is jam-packed with 13 minidolls of all the Disney Princess to date. As far as I recall, there is no other LEGO set that contains as much as minidolls in one go. Coming in at 1,016 pieces, you’ll get to bring home the LEGO mini-doll versions of Elsa, Anna, Alice in Wonderland, Belle, Wendy, Tinkerbell, Mirabel, Moana, Mulan, Pocahontas, Raya, Tiana, and Jasmine.

The LEGO Disney Magical Treehouse (43215) set is yet to appear at US LEGO.com. But my guess is that LEGO’s home shopping portal will be updated any time soon, especially since this latest offering will be part of LEGO’s product line-up for the month of June. Once listed, it is expected to retail for around $150. In the meantime, check out some of these images and take a look. Please take note that the product description mentioned here is from a raw Google translation from Korean, so pardon me if this is not quite perfect. A close look at the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney 100 (71038) series shows the many new LEGO pieces introduced in these minifigures. At the top of my list is Stitch’s new double-arm mold. I love how LEGO created a new face print for my favorite blue alien.  Ernesto de la Cruz’s black-and-white color scheme and the impressive, intricate design on his costume, guitar, and Mexican sombrero truly stand out.

Each CMF blind bag is expected to retail for $5 across all LEGO brand stores and LEGO.com beginning May 1, 2023. Which is at the top of your list in this latest LEGO CMF Disney series? Let us know in the comments below.

This latest series consists of 18 iconic Disney characters that appeal to Disney fans of all ages, beginning with one of the very first animated characters introduced by Walt Disney and his team of animators back in 1927. It’s not an easy feat for LEGO and Disney to select which character will make it to the cut of this LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney 100 series, but I’m glad how the final lineup turned out eventually.

Check out the details and product description of this latest CMF series, which will retail for $5 online and in-store.

Here’s a Sneak Peak at the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 3 (71038)

Fellow LEGO fan site and insider Promobricks have just gotten a hold of what seems to be an early copy of the package insert (checklist) of the LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigure Series 3 (71038). If you remember earlier this January, it was reported that this latest CMF series will include not just 12, but 18 new Disney characters given the LEGO minifigure treatment.

And just in time with Disney’s 100th-year celebration, this upcoming CMF craze will launch this May, alongside other LEGO Disney sets that mark the occasion. Thanks to Promobricks, we can now have an early look at what we can expect from this series. Take a look at the series’ package insert below.

Right off the bat, this newer version of Stitch is a must-have for me, together with that Magician Mickey from Fantasia. In case you need to know, here are the names of these new LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 3 characters.

Top Row (from left to right)
  • Oswald the Funny Rabbit with new head mold, dual-molded legs and printed 1×2 tile (predecessor to 1927 Mickey Mouse)
  • Pinocchio with new head mold and printed fishbowl (Pinocchio, 1940)
  • Jiminy Cricket with Parasol (Pinocchio, 1940)
  • Magician Mickey with new head mold, with bucket and mop (Fantasia, 1940)
  • Princess Tiana with 2×3 printed tile, crown, and frog (The Princess and the Frog, 2009)
  • Dr. Facilier with printed 1×2 tile and walking stick (The Princess and the Frog, 2009)
Middle Row (from left to right)
  • Queen of Hearts with wide skirt, crown, and scepter of hearts (Alice in Wonderland, 1951)
  • Princess Aurora with crown and owl (The Sleeping Beauty, 1959)
  • Mulan with sword and the cricket, Cri-Kee printed on what seems to be a 1×1 brick (Mulan, 1998)
  • Ernesto de la Cruz with guitar (Coco, 2017)
  • Miguel with guitar and dog Dante (Coco, 2017)
  • Pocahontas with 1×1 round tile with compass print and leaves (Pocahontas, 1995)
Bottom Row (from left to right)

As pointed out by Promobricks, it’s interesting to note the absence of an official Snow White minifigure in this series given that we already have an Evil Queen already. I really wish LEGO could have included the two in this upcoming CMF series since a proper LEGO Snow White minifigure is been a long time coming.

The LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigure Series 3 (71038) is expected to be launched in May of this year, so we can expect its marketing and promotions anytime soon this March. Special thanks once again to Promobricks for sharing this update.

LEGO Disney Peter Pan & Wendy’s Storybook Adventure (43220) Revealed!

German LEGO retailer Lucky Bricks has revealed another set added to LEGO Disney’s storybook adventure sets. If you recall, this subtheme began in 2020 and introduced us to LEGO’s first-ever microdolls, together with a buildable set that doubles as a collectible brick-built storybook.  And for this year, we can expect to see another set added to this collection: the LEGO Disney Peter Pan & Wendy’s Storybook Adventure (43220).

LEGO Disney Peter Pan & Wendy's Storybook Adventure

Lucky Bricks have already enlisted this on their website, with a release date of March 1, 2023. The set is based on Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of its classic 1954 animated film which will be exclusively streamed over at Disney+ sometime this year. The box art also features the artists behind the main characters themselves: Alexander Molony playing the role of Peter Pan, and Ever Anderson as Wendy. Not included in the box art is Jude Law who will be playing the titular role of Captain Hook. But to his credit, his character is now getting his first-ever LEGO microdoll rendition, this being the second time LEGO giving the spotlight to this iconic Disney villain. The first time we see Captain Hook getting a LEGO treatment is when he was first introduced as a collectible minifigure in LEGO Disney Collectible Minifigures (71012) back in 2016.

Coming in at 111 pieces, this upcoming set is expected to retail at around 16 Euros or $17 once it makes its debut at LEGO.com. I’ll keep you posted once the set is listed over LEGO’s home shopping portal, but for now, take a look at its product images. Special thanks to Brickset for the heads-up.

More LEGO Disney 100th Anniversary Sets Revealed

A few hours ago, German retailer JB Spielwaren unveiled a couple of new LEGO Disney 100th Anniversary sets that fans have long awaited. We can now take a closer look at the LEGO Disney ‘Up’ House (43217) and LEGO Disney Celebration Train (43212).

Though these images were removed already by JB Spielwaren (perhaps another retailer slip-up for this matter), internet fan sites were already quick to take notice. These two new LEGO Disney sets are expected to hit store shelves in April and feature several new collectible minifigs that are sure to be instant hits among minifigure collectors.

The LEGO Disney ‘Up’ House is expected to be a hit among LEGO fans since we are now getting an official set from this iconic film. Fans have been recreating this set for years, and I’m happy to see that we’re now getting minifigure versions of Russell and Mr. Carl Fredricksen. We also get to see a minifigure-scaled version of the house and the balloons that made the journey possible.  I hope that LEGO has thrown in twice the number of balloon pieces to make it more realistic and fun to display.

And this next one is another Instagram-worthy candidate. Though labeled as a 4+ set, this is something that will surely catch the attention of any LEGO Disney fan. Because if you missed out on the hugely expensive LEGO Disney Castle (71040) back in 2016, this is your chance to add Tinkerbell to your minifigure collection. The best part is that the LEGO Disney Celebration Train (43212) also includes Peter Pan and redesigned Mickey and Minnie minifigures. Plus, we also have Moana and Woody added to the mix as well. The train features several key moments from their respective films, rendering them into fun and colorful minifigure vignettes.

These LEGO Disney 100th Anniversary sets are not yet listed at LEGO.com, but since retailers are already posting them, we can expect an official reveal any time soon. For now, let’s take a look at these images.

Top 10 Most Wanted LEGO Disney Sets of All Time

NOTE: This article may contain affiliate links. Purchasing sets through these links allows us to earn a small commission (for a few LEGO pieces, and some digital grease to help us keep our site up and running).

This year marks the 100th year anniversary of Disney, and with LEGO as one of its most active global partners in promoting the House of Mouse, we can certainly expect plenty of interesting LEGO Disney sets in 2023 aside from the first wave of sets offered this month. So while we’re counting the months until October in celebration of Disney’s 100th year anniversary, let’s take a look at the top 10 most wanted LEGO Disney sets of all time.

Sorting through Brickset’s database reveals some interesting facts. Since 2012, LEGO has partnered with Disney to offer its first full LEGO sets under the Disney Princess theme. However, the partnership between the two extends as early as 1999 when LEGO introduced its very first Disney-inspired in the form of LEGO Duplo Pooh and his Honeypot (2981). Since then, there were several LEGO and Disney tie-in sets that were offered alongside the release of films such as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Toy Story, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Cars among others.
