And thankfully, we now have a relatively small set for retail that includes an exclusive minifigure version of the Monkie Kid, plus two other mainstay characters, Mei and Bull Clone Bob.

In case you missed it, six new LEGO 2021 LEGO Monkie Kid sets are slated to arrive this spring. The news of their arrival came from another third-party retailer, Momoshop, in Taiwan. Though their images have been eventually taken down by the website, eagle-eyed LEGO Monkie Kid fans were quick to take notice and took it to social media to share their discovery.
If you recall, LEGO somehow teased on the arrival of this 3rd wave of LEGO Monkie Kid sets when the Monkie Kid’s Team Dronecopter (80023) was first revealed during one of China’s trade fairs from last year. During which LEGO also revealed that it has seven (including the Team Dronecopter) 2021 LEGO Monkie Kid sets slated to arrive in the first quarter of the year.
Thanks to Momoshop and later on to Promobricks, we can see what to expect from this 2021 wave which is expected to launch on March 1. Check out these images.

There are a couple of sets here that will surely end up on my LEGO wishlist which includes the Lion Guardian and Arachnoid Base. Now with a total of 22 sets since its introduction last year, the Monkie Kid theme certainly looks better than ever. LEGO Shop@Home has now listed its first LEGO Monkie Kid set for 2021. We first saw this set when it was revealed back in November 2020 during the 3rd China International Import Exhibition (CIIE). And now we can confirm that the LEGO Monkie Kid Monkie Kid’s Team Dronecopter (80023), along with the rest of the still to be revealed LEGO Monkie Kid 2021 sets, will be arriving soon via LEGO’s online shopping portal.
The first to be revealed for its 2021 series, the LEGO Monkie Kid Monkie Kid’s Team Dronecopter (80023) comes in at 1,462 pieces and will retail for $150 when it arrives on March 1st. Check out the following product description of this set, along with its several official images. Last week, LEGO revealed several sets that we can expect sometime in the first quarter of 2021. Announced during the 3rd China International Import Exhibition (CIIE), these upcoming LEGO sets celebrate the classic Chinese culture and its classic stories and mythologies. One new offering, in particular, is something that most fans of the latest LEGO Monkie Kid theme will surely welcome – the LEGO Monkie Kids’ Team Quadcopter (80023).
Slated to arrive in March 2021, the LEGO Monkie Kids’ Team Quadcopter (80023) features the theme’s main protagonist and his friends as they square off once more with the forces of the Spider Queen. Though other product details of this set are yet to be revealed, it can be seen that other than the quadcopter itself which is the main build of the set, we can see that it also includes a portion of the team’s headquarters which will nicely go with the LEGO Monkie Kid’s Team Secret HQ (80013). The Team Quadcopter (80023) set also features a couple of spider bots and a radar-equipped cannon as part of the Spider Queen’s arsenal. Finally, the set will also include 8 minifigures and 1 big fig, with the set retailing for 149.99 euros when it launches in March next year together with six, yet-to-be-revealed Monkie Kid sets.
The LEGO Monkie Kids’ Team Quadcopter (80023) is part of the third wave of LEGO Monkie Kid sets scheduled to be released next year. Introduced earlier this year, it features a storyline that is directly inspired by the classic story Journey to the West, given with a modern LEGO twist. Inspired by the 500-year-old story of the Monkey King, LEGO Monkie Kid is the LEGO Group’s take on a new, untold chapter of the legendary tale. This new LEGO theme has also spawned an animated series of the same title that chronicles the journey of our main character as he thwarts the evil plans of the Demon Bull King and his minions
As of to date, there are already 11 sets currently available under the LEGO Monkie Kid theme, with 7 more to be offered in the first quarter of 2021. And in case you haven’t checked on these latest LEGO Monkie Kid sets, be sure to check with LEGO Shop@Home for more details.
Its August 1st, and it can only mean that more LEGO sets are now put on display at your local brand LEGO store (in case they’re now open) and over at LEGO Shop@Home. And this month, it seems that LEGO has the adult fan community in mind when it launched its impressive wave of LEGO 18+ sets, catering to the more discerning LEGO hobbyist in mind.
Since LEGO began introducing its 18+ sets branding with the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection, the LEGO Group made it a point to offer larger, more sophisticated sets to the AFOL (Adult Fans of LEGO) community. And since then, we’ve seen a steady increase of sets representing each of LEGO’s current themes.
Just to be sure that everything is covered though, LEGO has also released other sets intended for all ages coming from its various licensed and homegrown themes. With 55 new sets offered this month (as per Brickset’s count), I’m pretty sure there is something that will catch your fancy. We have a handful of new sets coming from other LEGO themes such as Star Wars, Super Mario, Harry Potter, Technic, Friends, City, Ninjago, Hidden Side and my personal favorite, Monkie Kid. Take note that depending on your region, some of these sets might still be released on a later date.
Check out these LEGO 18+ sets now available at LEGO’s online shopping portal. And if you wish to add them to your LEGO must-have list for this month, be kind enough to click on the following affiliate links below to support our work here in The Brick Show. Read on and happy building!
This might not be something entirely new, but I don’t want to miss out on something this nice. Earlier this May, we saw the first wave of LEGO Monkie Kid sets – LEGO’s new action-packed theme inspired by the classic Chinese saga Journey to the West. And after its initial offering, LEGO has added more sets expanding the theme’s storyline and adventure. It also gives us a handful of new and interesting minifigures such as the Horn Demons and the Spider Queen. I simply love the new headgear design and accessories on these characters.
Other than these regular sets, LEGO has unveiled other similarly inspired sets to add to your LEGO Monkie Kid collection. As it turns out, the theme will also be getting the BrickHeadz treatment, particularly with the arrival of the LEGO BrickHeadz Monkey King (40381) in August. And to all polybag collectors out there, a second polybag offering has also arrived complementing its predecessor. Coming in at 24 pieces, a LEGO Monkie Kid Build Your Own Monkey King (40474) polybag features a brick-shifting Monkey King that you can build in a myriad of ways. What could probably be the selling point of this polybag is the unique 1×2 brick printed with the Monkey King’s eyes, and the golden staff handles that come with other LEGO Monkie Kid sets. The polybag has been first spotted in the LEGO Store in Billund, so we hope it will arrive in local LEGO stores soon. Just drop a comment below if you spotted this poly in any of our local LEGO brand stores.
To know more about these sets and to add them to your LEGO wishlist, you may click on the following affiliate links below over at LEGO Shop@Home. These sets are slated to be released on September 1st, with the LEGO BrickHeadz Monkey King (40381) scheduled to be released in August. Check out their official images below.
The announcement of the LEGO Monkie Kid theme has been welcomed positively by LEGO fans, and it appears that there will be an additional polybag set to look forward to. A LEGO Monkie Kid’s Delivery Bike (30341) polybag has been introduced, and I guess its just a matter of time before it lands in US LEGO Stores.
A report from the Brickfinder suggests that a polybag will accompany the new LEGO Monkie Kid theme, similar to other LEGO themes or product series. The said polybag was first spotted during the LEGO Monkie Kid’s Shanghai launch event last May 15 and was subsequently made available at the LEGO brand store in Shanghai for a minimum single-receipt purchase of any LEGO products and merchandise worth RMB369 (roughly $50 and above). Other than the LEGO Monkie Kid’ Delivery Bike (30341) polybag, there were also other exclusive promotional freebies that were given away at the said LEGO Store such as a LEGO Monkie Kid commemorative brick and a LEGO Monkie Kid Storage Head.
The LEGO Monkie Kid’s Delivery Bike (30341) features an alternate version of Monkie Kid wearing his kitchen garb, similar to what you can find in sets such as Pigsy’s Food Truck (80009) and Red Son’s Inferno Truck (80011). The delivery bike itself is a great addition to the overall theme, with its clever, brick-built bamboo steamer attached at the back. The polybag also seems to include a unique printed 1×2 plate, though I really can’t place my finger on what it is looking at the image.
As of to date, this polybag is yet to be seen in LEGO Shop@Home in the US, but my bet is that it might be included as a promotional freebie anytime soon or once the LEGO Store June Calendar is published.
The LEGO Monkie Kid sets are now available, and if you wish to take a closer look at these, you can find a good number of crystal clear images right here. Thanks again to the Brickfinder for the heads up.
For those of you who are looking forward to the recently revealed LEGO Monkie Kid sets, LEGO Shop@Home has now made it available for all. This latest offering from LEGO takes inspiration from the classic Chinese saga Journey to the West, given that modern-day LEGO twist. This new LEGO series follows Monkie Kid and his friends as they seek the aid of the legendary Monkey King in order to thwart the evil plans of the Demon Bull King. Will get to know more about the details of the story behind Monkie Kid when it’s animated tie-in series arrives.
I love how these sets turned out, especially that of the Monkey King Warrior Mech and the Demon Bull King sets. It seems that LEGO designers have somehow perfected it’s mech designs. The toy crane on the deck can be used to grab the Bull Clones’ stud-shooting assault boat, and Pigsy and Mei’s fun buildable water jets add to the battle play options. A fabulous gift idea for kids, this LEGO set includes 7 minifigures with weapons, plus Sandy and Mo the cat figures to role-play exciting adventures.
Together with the reveal of LEGO’s latest line of LEGO Monkie Kid sets, LEGO also announces a tie-in animated series that chronicles the adventures of our new superhero. Inspired by the classic Chinese story Journey to the West, the LEGO Monkie Kid Animated series will follow the adventures of the Monkie Kid as he comes into terms of his mission to save the world. Watch the series’ video trailer below.
The LEGO Monkie Kid animated series will feature the characters of the hero-in-the-making Monkie Kid, together with Mei, Sandy, and Pigsy as they venture to seek the aid of the Monkey King against the modern-day minions of the show’s chief antagonist, the Demon Bull King.
There is no further info regarding when and where the series will be aired, but we’ll probably get more updates in the coming days. The artwork featured in the LEGO Monkie Kid animated series somehow deviates from LEGO’s usual style of animation, which underscores LEGO’s brand of humor. From the looks of it, the show is a nice fusion of both oriental and modern art concepts that shows an alternate continuity of the 500-year old epic story.
The LEGO Monkie Kid sets are slated to be available globally by tomorrow, May 16, with China, Singapore, Hongkong, and Malaysia having a head start today. Though LEGO Shop@Home in the US is yet to update its servers to include these sets in their listing, fans have been sharing across social media that some US LEGO stores have been selling these sets earlier than expected. Not really sure if these early sales can be considered “official” in a way, but you may want to check with your local LEGO brand store first for product availability. Most of LEGO’s physical stores have opened already so you have the option of doing your in-store purchase. However, due to the on-going pandemic, I do recommend that you exercise due caution in going out and visiting public places. I will still opt for online purchases for my LEGO fix for the time being.
I’ll keep you posted once the product listings for LEGO Monkie Kid sets go live at shop.LEGO.com, so stay tuned. Thanks to The Brothers Bricks for sharing the vid.
